Struggling - Please help regrding tactics/players

I am Birmingham City and cant seem to do well whatever tactics I use. I have used the bugels home tactic for a season and finished 19th (great) and jambo daves 3 5 2 and finished (18th). I am buying good young players i.e. bojan, john fleck etc but getting nowhere, can anyone please help. Im addicted to the game....... but for how long?

Joke. JamboDave tactic is a killer win-win tactic and you say youve tried that.

Ok post more "symptoms" of whats going wrong exactly, I'll see what I can do.

Im not scoring enough goals, my midfielders dont score and my defence lets in loads. Ive just completed another season and finished 16th. My top scorer is john fleck with 15. Please help - thanks for your time.

try using my 424 tactic found in the tactics 08 thread, its worked well fro me

Try putting the emphasis on attacking. I often find I get more goals that way. I know this can lead to more goals being conceded but if you're conceding a lot anyway, then what does it matter?

I have not tried your 424 but will note it for next start up Ridley. This is on hold as due to employing Jambo352 I have lost the need to ever buy DRs or DLs again (in the Jambo252 savegames).

Gav. I have found that regardless of the team, I do very well with short passing. Even with Bournemouth and several other low and lower league teams as well as superstar teams. Even when the team is not high skill it seems to boost them. Unless I'm really lucky.

You could try stopping all defenders making forward runs and assign a central MC to stay put too and play defensively. That can protect your back 4 or 3 whatever. And keep defenders in position.

Try that to block goals. As for attacking, keep short passing and give the wingers, a central midfielders to be full on attackers.

I think youll have tried this, but aside from being hooked on Jambo tactic, my advice is to work out from your squad who is good for what role.

This is all general advice tho....
