In this version so far, £26M for Tevez. Had £24 M offered for Fletcher from Citeh, got greedy and decided to reject and offer him to them for £30 M. They didn't bite, so am having to take £21 M from either Villa or Spurs now. Still not bad.

In past versions, think it might of been 01/02 - Joe Cole to Barca for £90 M. They kept coming in with a negotiable offer, and I kept pumping the price up until it went to £90 M and I took it. Good ol' days.

wow.. 90m.. was that all cash? or payments/cash/% ?

It was all cash if I remember correctly.

Speaking of transfers..I just had this..

"Darren Fletchers proposed move from Man Utd to Tottenham has been called off at the last minute due to Tottenham having set their sights on other transfer targets"

What assholes! Effing me about like that. Huntelaar coming to the club hangs on Fletcher leaving, I wish I could report Spurs to FIFA.

I'm glad we get a taste of our own medicine, if i think they've bitten my hand off when i make a bid for a player I always cancel then offer less!
I think a good tip is just to offer him out on your first day as manager for about 30mill and chances are city will take him

Wish I knew that at the start.

My league form is annoying me. Drawing to many games. P 19 WON 11 D 8

7 points off the top with a game in hand. Need to put the foot on the gas 2nd half of the season

In dier need of help...again lol

My Strokers aren't performing at all!!!

Rooney has 13 goals from 34 and a average rating of 6.20

Berbatov has 7 from 27 and rating of 6.10

Lavezzi has 5 from 28 and a rating of 6.02

and Huntelaar has joined and has 2 from 5 but has a rating of 6.80 :(

I've just bought Owen for the summer for £4.4mil and im gunna sell Lavezzi (an expensive flop) but he's just not up 2 scratch!

Can any one help me out on what to do!! they can't score any advise, formations, team talks anything!!!

i dont know why no one can get berbatov to score. I am playing 4-4-2. no change of tactics. and he has 29 from 38.. with partner henry scoring 11 from 22 having been injured for 4 months.

Is that Theiry Henry???

I've got him upfront with Huntelaar or Rooney and NONE of the seem like they want to score :(

First post in this thread. :)

Just wondered if anyone offers Giggs/Scholes/Neville/VDS new contracts at the beginning of their game? I know that all apart from Scholes I think have contracts expiring at the end of the first season. Is it worth keeping them for another year or leaving them and trying to convert them into coaches?

Luckily for me, Arsenal have around 7-8 injured First team players and they keep getting regular injuries but still are at 4th place come December.

It's worth giving them a new contract anyway as they're old so will accept reduced wages. All good for 2 seasons anyway.

Right, thought I would give an update on my game, I am only at the end of September 2008 but have made a few signings and would like some feedback on who I should sell/buy in the January transfer window. So here it goes:

Transfers In:

Henri Saivet (From Bordeaux) - £2.2m (will rise to £5.75m after 40 apperances)

Lorenzo De Silvestri (From Lazio) - £7.5m

Sebastian Giovinco (From Juventus) - £6m

Davide Santon (From Inter) - £1.7m

Mamadou Sakho (From PSG) - £8.5m

Miguel Veloso (From Sporting) - £11.25m (coming in January 2009)

Transfers Out:

Darren Fletcher (To Tottenham) - £20mill (over 24 months)

Tomasz Kuszczak (To Nantes) - Loan fee of £675k (Possibility to buy for £2.7m)

Carlos Tevez (To Real Madrid) - £34.7m

Richard Eckerlsey (To Bournemouth) - Loan

Michael Carrick (To Tottenham) - £25m (over 24 months - Leaving in January 2009)

Starting line-up:

-------------------VDS

De Silvestri----Ferdinand------Vidic-------Evra

--------Hargreaves (will be Veloso)

Ronaldo---------------------------Nani/Giggs

---------Giovinco/Anderson/Scholes

-----------Rooney-------Berbatov

So any ideas on who I should buy/sell in January? Were my dealings in the transfer market good ones?

Thanks in advance .

I just sold Fletch for 24mil, and Park for 12mil(I thought was alright, no one would bid higher). Got Simao for 7.25mil for Backup for Nani and Ronaldo.

Glen Johnson was bought for -23mil- from Man City so there goes one of the DR's I was looking at ^_^. Seriously, who can replace Neville and VDS? They're getting a bit passed it now. Brown really -isn't- a DR and I feel Foster isn't up to the mark to play week in week out.

I've just read the existing thread and many people seem to be really struggling while others are doing well. I know that there is more to FM then "the perfect tactic" (constant in-game adjustments, tweaking the side and tactic from match to match, teamtalks and interating with the press and players), but I'd be interested in having a look at peoples' tactics: the good, the bad and the ugly.

Saying your playing a 442 with a support striker and a holdin midfielder really doesn't say much. Kind of like describing you cup holder and expecting me to know how your car handles.

I'd like to be able to give some assistance to those who are struggling and learn from those who are doing well.

Some good dealings there, how's the Diamond formation coming along for you?

I'm currnetly in talks with Juventus at trying to bring in Giovinco myself, i'm thinking of retraining him to play as an out and out winger, replacing Giggs. The only thing i would say is possibly look at bringing in a new left midfielder.

I just sold Fletch for 24mil, and Park for 12mil(I thought was alright, no one would bid higher). Got Simao for 7.25mil for Backup for Nani and Ronaldo.

Di Silvestri, Rafinha or Davide Santon for the RB slot.

As for goalkeeper i'm looking at Manuel Neuer, Asenjo or the young lad from Sampdoria.

Started up my Man U game with a gist of wwfan's tactics. Surprisingly I haven't bought or sold anyone, though at times the squad was screaming for a backup right winger with the injury to Ron and Park.

Opened with a 1-1 draw to Portsmouth. Big mistake to keep off Crouch.

Van der Vaart is coming in June 09 for £11m which I'm delighted with as he was always quality in older games. Selling Huntelaar too, he just hasn't gelled with the squad after lots of chances and he's always complaining plus Campbell is back soon so he'll be in first team after an impressive season at Tottenham. Also may ship off Hargreaves, he just isn't doing anything useful and when Van der Vaart arrives, I'll have even less use for him.

Will try to get £20m for Huntelaar and about £15m for Hargreaves, meaning I have roughly £30m to spend. Could do with a new goalkeeper like Lloris but not sure how much he costs. Could do with more back up in defense and on the wing. Here is how my squad looks at the moment

----------------------Van der Sar (Foster)

Rafinha (Neville)---Ferdinand (Brown)---Vidic (Evans)---Evra (O'Shea)

Ronaldo (Nani)----Anderson (Scholes)---Veloso (Carrick)---Fernandez (Nani)

-----------------Rooney (Tevez)-----Berbatov (Huntelaar)

Also have Hargreaves and Giggs doing essentially nothing right now. Sold Park and Fletcher and Manucho is on loan (though might sell him after this season)

Cristian Rodriguez on the left, Ronaldo on the right. Nani rotates with them, superb. Rodriguez cross often (excellent crossing Stats) and Ronnie crosses mixed/rarely. Lots of goals.

Bought Toulalan for 11m first season and within the first 6 months his description becomes 'World Class Midfielder'.

Palombo is a beast.

Srjna is a beast.

Asenjo has taken over in goal from VDS (Wonderkid)

Sold Berba to raise funds and brought in Vela. Berba banging them in for City now, big mistake me thinks.

Also, has anyone else managed to recieve some crazy transfer fees? Ive sold Fletcher for 40m (City), Carrick (30m) Spurs and Hargreaves (Gd player/too injury prone) (30m) Spurs. On another save ive also sold Nani for 35m (Chelski) and Park for (20m) acnt remember who too.

With also selling some 'journeyman' players (O'Shea/Manucho/Brown etc) its entirely possible to raise a LOT of money with United.

Of course you then get 'squad gelling' issues but hey, its buidling for the future right?!

P.S Welbeck is very very promising.

P.P.S Get Saivet and Sakho at the start of every game, both have the potential to be world beaters and can be picked up for peanuts.

Brown's fine at DR and is my highest average rating player this season, but you should get Ramos to replace Neville if you can afford him.

And Foster is fine in goal, but you'll want someone else anyway, so get Asenjo.

Apologies for repeat post but has anyone else had any experience with Cristian Rodriguez on the left wing? He's been immense for me but havent seen anyone else mention him??

I've retrained Nani on the right wing so I'll probably buy him at the end of the season and rotate him with Fernandez. How much did he cost you?

Can anyone suggest me a new Left Midfielder/winger?

Just at the end of my 1st season, I haven't signed or sold anyone yet, and Arsenal have offered 40m for Nani. If he goes I will need someone to come in, any ideas?

Will do a full season reort later, thanks.

was this in the start of the game? and the defo/full-version/patched?

I tried selling him on the patched full version and only clubs with loan to buy were interested?

I find it depends who City/Spurs etc have already bought. If theyve already spent millions buying Carrick/Fletcher etc off you then you only tend to get the loan to buy offers....
