[Suggestion] VAR and Goal-Line Tech

If Football Manager wants to remain the most authentic simulation of the beautiful game on the market, it needs to move with the times. As the sport it is based on continues to evolve, so too must FM.

Goal-line technology has been around has been around for a number of years now to prevent refereeing blunders like the one which robbed Frank Lampard of a perfectly legitimate goal at the 2010 World Cup, yet Football Manager has never included it.

Would it add much to the game? Beyond ramping up the drama during matches while you're waiting for the technology to work its magic, probably not, but it's all about making FM19 the most realistic instalment yet.

The VAR system, which can assist with goal, red card and penalty decisions as well as cases of mistaken identity, is a hot topic in the sport right now, and should really be acknowledged in the next edition of Football Manager.

Again, it wouldn't have a massive bearing on the gameplay, but it would be interesting if FM19 attempted to make a few predictions about the technology's development and proliferation. Have it roll out into new leagues in future seasons, for instance.

Yes but in the form of commentary. IE, the VAR has ruled the goal out because of offside or VAR shown that player A handled the ball the in box. Don't need the ref to run to the monitor and then back on the pitch to do the ruling. Players can opt for instant replays in the option box in the game now if they want to view the incident.

This is a fairly straightforward feature as the ME already has the core aspects of GLT & VAR within the code to make a match simulation work so it’s just a matter of presentation.
