ME behave when defending a long pass

I mainly play LLM so I am not sure if it is only happening in LLM due to low decision, but I feel even so it is a ME bug.

When the attacking player make a long pass, miss their target and ball towards touch-in-goal line, many times the defending players will chasing the ball and try to control it, which many times result in a corner/throw in/pass directly to attacker. It is so obvious that they should just watch or shield the ball out and the defending team will have a goal kick. Btw I only see players shield the ball in the middle of the pitch, but never see they shield the ball out the touch line
