yorkie87
Having a few issues with players demanding a new contract a year after signing one. Is this normal? Seeing as they have 3/4 years left my answer is “you have plenty of time remaining on your exsisting contract” which used to work. The stubbornness in me wants to not offer one hoping as they have a long time left they’ll get over it.
KlaaZ
It's not just that they have a long term contract. If someone is performing well, he'll want to be rewarded for those performances. Look at it this way. If you have a job, and you're doing that job really well, wouldn't you want to be rewarded for doing a good job?
HUNT3R
If a youngster/backup starts performing well. If they start being involved in more games. If you give players on equal statuses more in wages. Etc. There are many reasons. Look at the reasons on a case by case basis.
yorkie87
Ok so if I offer a new contract will they want another one next season as well?
Snorks
How often are you playing those players and what squad status do they have? These are rough figures but: A Key Player will expect to play in at least 60% of your games A First Teamer will expect to play in around 50% Rotation player around 40% Backup a bit less So if you have a guy on a Rotation contract, who is playing in 50-60% of your fixtures, he will want an equivalent contract. A First Team contracted player playing in 75% games will want an improved contract. Flip side is, a Key Player playing 40% games will moan about appearances. It sounds as if you have signed someone on maybe a Rotation contract, but are playing him in more games, so he wants a contract to reflect his teammates and a realistic squad status. There personalty attributes can also inflluence their likelihood of having a moan.
