saemus
Let me give you an example: Mirel Radoi, if you look at his stats, is better than John Terry. My assistant says that his ability is 'some way off' John Terry's. This annoys me!
LuciferM
Yes, it annoys me a lot too. This is why I completely disregard stats to a big degree and purely work around scout reports.
saemus
I don't know whether to agree with scout reports or stats!
Bluenose_92
Stats>Reports. Stats directly affect how the player performs in the engine, Terry may be considered better due to other high stats (i.e influence) or he has great hidden stats
crazy gra
Terry's better as his CA is better than Radoi's. Rio Ferdinand has tackling of 16 but you wouldn't say no to having him in your team.
Piddy
Terry would easily outperform radoi in the game, just because some of his technical stats aren't as good, doesn't mean he's a worse player, this is reeeeally starting to annoy me
saemus
Look, Radoi is 3 better than Terry on takling, marking, anticipation; 6 better at off the ball, 2 at concentration, 1 at agression, 2 decisions and they both have 20 for influence, radoi's physical are slightly better, 4 better for positioning! Radoi's stats are far far better, not just on technical. Why should terry 'far, far' out perform him'
Piddy
Because his CA is much higher, plus radoi is severely one footed, than can have an impact in the game if Terry wasn't better, a scout wouldn't say he is
saemus
CA stands for current ability?

saemus
so you think that I should stick with Ass Man's recomenedation, play Zapata + Terry; ahead of Radoi, Fazio
Piddy
Yeah probably, but it's your choice as to who to play, I often defy my assistant managers recommendations anyway Either way, great defence
Lisandro Lopez
You have to take into consideration the “foot problem”, Radoi is one footed so to speak he can only use his right foot he is awful on his left. Therefore his stats will appear pretty damn impressive due to compensation for this by the game. Just because on the visual side he looks better than Terry does not necessary mean he will perform better. You should take both into account, look at all the important defending stats but also look and understand what your scout is saying provided your scout is a top notch one of course. moj
A lot of scout reports are terrible, who's your scout?
LuciferM
Ok having using the FM2009 Demo 'Editor', I've given up on scout reports. I realise this is a quick turnaround but they're giving 5 star quality player ratings to players that have a 171PA.

Radoi's stats are far far better, not just on technical. Why should terry 'far, far' out perform him' your scout says terry is better due to his CA being higher... to equate this to real terms.... terry has proved himself on the big stage and is more experienced at that level... hence . a better player in the eyes of your scout..... I realise this is a quick turnaround but they're giving 5 star quality player ratings to players that have a 171PA. if you just check around the forum.. this has been addressed plenty of times before... PA is nothing to do with how good the player is..... and little to do with how he'll turn out... PA and CA and the editors have spoilt this game no end..... these stats are just part of the dna of the player... and have little effect on the players ability... eg. player A has PA of 160 and a CA of 140 and great stats for a striker... Player B has PA of 180 and a CA of 150 and low stats for a striker... whos the better player? , who would have the higher star rating?... player A will always be a better player then player B.. no matter how much you train him
