oliscott
Does anyone know when your playing a network game if the hosts computer is doing all the grunt work and your simply streaming from them or is your own PC taking care of some things and if so what things and what components in the PC are being used? I.e Graphics card, Ram ETC.
Toothless Gibbon
The host does all the processing.
oliscott
So I could essentially join a net game on any laptop that runs the game and not have to worry about it needing to do anything
santy001
@Neil Brock could you shed any light at all on this? Basically working under the assumption that in the network game between myself and @oliscott my PC should be doing the heavy lifting. However, we're currently just starting up our game on FMT19 and Oliscott is playing a pre-season friendly, his CPU usage is hitting something like 60% per core, while mine is idling at 1%. What is the deal with how its supposed to work, as when setting up a network game wanting to make sure that both of us can play it just fine despite the mis-match in our specs. Is it the case that matches have to be processed on each users computer separately (hence why when @oliscott is in a match, his cpu is ramping up and mine is idle and vice versa) but all the general processing for the game (the general day to day processing and processing of competitions with high detail levels will be done by my PC? oliscott
Anyone else able to shed any light on this?
SI Staff EdL Posted October 31, 2018 SI Staff Share Posted October 31, 2018 When in a match both client / server will be doing a fair bit of work as it has to play all the highlights etc. In general game processing nearly all the work is done on the server.
