I'm buying a new laptop and want to know if this laptop can run fm 16 smoothly?

Yes it will run it.

But what do you want from FM? 3D Graphics, Lots of Leagues, Large Databases... etc.

What do you want a large laptop, powerful, 3d graphics important... weight of laptop important?

I didn't have the information later posted.

That's the exact transaction from the previous thread. He asked will it run Fm16 - and it will run, I quantified my response by asking what they expected, amount of leagues, and graphics etc. And they edited, and then they posted here, like requested.

Perhaps next time get your story straight.

Hey Guys,

I'm looking a buying a laptop for travelling so my question is anyone playing on a laptop with decent spec but most importantly good battery life...

I'm playing FM14 as the new skins are a mess so the spec shouldn't need to be crazy,

What do you mean, for a 15 inch laptop it's £500, would you have a larger budget for a 17 inch laptop? Or a smaller budget for a 13 inch budget?

I don't understand the correlation between screensize and how much money you have to spend on a laptop...

Sorry I'm currently running a 17" laptop so price wise the normally come in more expensive than the 15"

With my limited knowledge I also checked out some of the key components on http://www.notebookcheck.net/, the results on there seem to suggest that the HP laptop would perform better and that its graphics performance would be better even though the Lenovo has dedicated graphics card.

Is this correct? If it is, the HP would be a bargain? Cheers

Hi Guys,

Looking for advice on a new desktop.

Currently have a laptop, which is pretty powerful and runs FM well, however the area where the charger plugs in heats up excessively, so the battery has fried, and when the charger is knocked the laptop cuts out almost immediately.

This has obviously made it into more of a desktop than a PC. However, me and my partner were thinking of selling both our laptops and buying a desktop.

Would this be a good course of action?

If so, can anyone recommend a good one, would mainly be used for running FM for me, and The Sims 4 for her.

Don't know the budget dependant on what we might receive for selling ours, however I'd guess we may be restricted to around the £400 - £500 mark as we would need to buy it first to transfer any files across.

I have been playing fm16 on my work laptop as a trial to see if i'd like a laptop and am quite enjoying the comfort of feet up and beer :D

The work laptop spec is

I3 m-330 @2.13ghz

4gb ram

320gb 5400 hdd

no graphics.

it's been a bit of a step doon, and was wondering what the thoughts were on something that would bring me back up to or even with a more modern laptop than me ol desktop surpass my old fm needs. when loading game up I normally just hit recommended and large database, and am happy with the depth of the game. I think it gives brazil, argentina, england, germany and spain all on full with around 38k players. In terms of budget I dont have one but as this is going to be purely an FM thing I would struggle to justify to the wife spending on a high end machine so lets say around 600 with a bit of room.

Will you need the full package? or do you have access to a monitor, OS etc?

And are you comfortable building one yourself or do you want it completely pre built for you?

Ideally full package, but should be able to access a monitor easily enough. Would attempt to build if easy enough, never tried to do it however, but assume it would make it much cheaper?

It always amazes me that people are willing to spend £750 - £1000 on a mac book air, but not on a PC...

However, I feel your pain, computers are expensive, and Macs are greatly overpriced for what's under the hood...

Cube are a good make - although I've never bought one, others on here have and nobody has come back to complain.

You'll always get mixed reviews when looking at different laptop makers.

I read a review for a hotel on a lake before, the reviewer gave them 1 star because when they arrived it was too foggy to see the lake.

People are weird.

It is a rebranded Clevo ... generally speaking the issue isn't build quality.. it's the resellers warranty terms and support after purchase that is the issue with Cube.

For instance, PC specialist is a Clevo reseller, but it's warranty and support terms are generally favourable, and Cube's aren't..

It's just another thing to take into account.

You should be ok, but don't expect breakneck speeds, and expect some over heating issues eventually, that cpu isn't the most powerful and is a dual core, but for the price, a decent machine.

Thanks. Don't need it to be lightning but my old laptop can only really handle half a dozen playable leagues and I'm not really getting the most out of the game.

Yes, very capable laptop for the price :thup:

The only thing I'd do is look to swap HDD out for something a bit faster if your budget warrants it, and if not, you could always swap out the graphics card for something less if it's mainly going to be for FM.

Hi Wenger, the 7400k apu is a dual core processor... the 6 cores comes from the 2c + 4g description where the 2c is the 2 main steamroller cpu cores and the other 4 are radeon based graphics cores.

Your apu is probably on par with an older i3 cpu so half a star is probably about right tbh.

The processor.

That processor is on par with a processor that's about 10 years old.

You've got plenty of ram there, so no need to upgrade that necessarily and considering you are running an apu, i'd just upgrade that, I can't recommend anything though as I don't have details of you mobo etc..

But running on the assumption it is Socket FM2+ based , you can upgrade it fairly cheaply compared to intel based upgrades...

For instance, upgrading to a A10-7700K would pretty much double your performance , and they will run you about £80 or so I think these days? I have to be honest, i'm not up on amd as much as intel ..

Pretty sure the best you can get on that socket in apu's is the A10-7850K , which is about £100 or so I think.

You'd be best researching it though with your full system specs.

With any computer you can load every single league, every single player, coach etc.

What's loads to you is lots to some, and few to some.

Ideally, it's not spec'd for a Surface Pro 2. Barely comes in min spec.

What do you want from the SPro 2? How many exactly? How many years? 3D graphics? etc.etc.etc.

If I'm right it's the i5-4200U processor in the Surface Pro 2.

I wouldn't play with any more than 3 nations and 2 tiers in each. That's the limit I'd say.

3D matches would probably be a no go.

EDIT: Never mind, found one with dedicated graphics, markedly better processor than I have now, fitting the rest of my needs for the 600 mark. Bit more than I hoped, but hey ho.

The HD 530 would rely on L3 Cachce, if memory is ddr3 or ddr4, the clock rate of the processor and something else I can't remember.
