Frankie 7
Best way to look for a laptop that runs FM is check the game specs first and take it from there.
Ronaldo Beckham
Yeah I looked and apparently I need a 2.2ghz processor.

Smac
The Acer (found on first page) finally arrived yesterday and I have to say that it is a very nice machine. Puts my desktop to shame and eats up leagues for breakfast. Thanks to everyone who posted about it and reviewed it, especially welshace for pointing it out in the first place. It looks a perfect fit for FM. Cheers gents. I got lucky finding a USA refurbished model, but if it continues to be relatively inexpensive in Europe I can so far highly recommend it! beard
Hi this is my first post as i have just purchased fm13 i am looking to get a laptop to play it on and have £500 available to spend on it and was looking at a sony vaio. Can anyone help which ones are going to be best to play this on? thanks
Welshace
are you sticking with a sony vaio or are you willing to go for others? and how flexible is the £500... as even £550 makes a huge difference... with vaio's .. you are paying a lot more for the name ..and possibly the build quality but ive never had issues with bad build qualities with the dozen or so lappy's ive had in my possession this year infact
superstar11
I am willing to go for others but that will be my price limit. I also like hp laptops as well if any of them are compatible?
the__colonel
Can someone give me a hand with buying a laptop? I've got a budget of about £500, but can stretch to £650. I've seen the ones below, any other suggestions? I'm not great with understanding the performance of computers, which one is best of the three below? http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1152339.html http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1269327.html http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/ASUS_K55VD-SX067H_1287194.html RAM isn't really an issue as I can add more easily enough

The Asus has a slightly better processor but only 4GB RAM and a lesser graphics card, upgrading the RAM would make it dearer than the second Acer so all in all, I would go for the first Acer
Smurf
I wouldn't go for the 3rd one. I'd be more inclined towards the 2nd one. Saves you the hassle of having to buy an extra 2gb RAM - plus opening the laptop to insert 2gb RAM is pointless as it would void the waranty - I'd just go for the one with 8gb RAM - it's only an extra £50.
Welshace
first one.... the asus is out straight away..,., the second one only has the 2gb extra ram and a 2gb graphics card rather then the 1gb one in the first.... the two gb graphics card is redundant tbh and not really useful. and the 2gb extra ram isn't needed if you ask me... save yourself £50 and get the first ... or.. if it was me... i'd be on the phone to them and ask if you can get a 1tb hdd in instead

It might be shutting down because it's overheating - try getting a bit of air underneath it by propping it up on some sort of wodden frame or similar. Try get air flowing underneath it - I sometimes turn on a fan on my desktop to cool my computer down. you can also buy laptop coolers from Amazon or anywhere really. For 450ish this is pretty good http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1201803.html

Smurf
Okay cheers for that. Could you guess how many leagues the laptop you suggested me to buy would run? Well I've a fairly similar computer, mine would be a tad faster and a bit more RAM, but I run the, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Ireland, England, France, Italy leagues in full, with most tiers. And I run Brazil, Argentina, Portugal, China, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Belgium (and a few others that I can't think of now) as non-playable leagues. And the game runs pretty swiftly for me. Wylie
On a similar note...I'm about to buy a new Macbook Pro. It comes with an Intel HD Graphics 4000. (Intel Core i7 and 8GB ram) Will that be enough to use the 3D match engine fully?
Smurf
It's nowt to do with processor or ram - that would be a graphics card issue. Although the i3, i5 and i7 have got gpu inside the gpu they are limited but they are perfectly fine for playing FM in 3D - but it is recommended to have a dedicated graphics card. Which Mac Book Pro are you getting?
Wylie
13-inch: 2.9 GHz I could pay more for a 15 inch with 'NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory', but I don't really want to do that just to play FM. I would like to be able to use the 3D match view though
Smurf
Is there a particular reason you need a Mac - because you could get a better PC for a lot cheaper? I'm fairly certain the 3d match view would be fine on the one you're getting, just put the details on low for the match in the options. *edit // not pc I meant laptop
fallacy
Would http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Lenovo_IdeaPad_Z380_1258642.html have a similar level of performance versus http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1152339.html ? I like having a lot of leagues, but thinking of getting a smaller screen due to travel etc In my opinion the Acer is better - better graphics card - but the 630 won't play all games - better off going for something with the 650 graphics card if you plan on playing other games. Otherwise for FM - both are fine and would play FM no bother and very similar.

Smurf
I don't think it will have a problem. The only thing that might be a drawback is the 13 inch screen - I'm not sure FM caters for a small screen like that.
