Crispypaul
I believe this one was recommended earlier: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5750G_1173735.html EDIT: a tenner more with less RAM, but a USB3 port and a better graphics card. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1201803.html
Barkermush
Will a Alienware M17x R4-7263BK be anygood for FM? My mate suggested it to me, he said I will have no problems at all (it will barely stretch a muscle running FM, nevermind over-heat) For £1,400 I assume it should have no problems? But it's running on Windows 7.. not windows 8, and it doesn't have a blueray disk drive. So I don't know how old it is. Display Size: 17 Inch Brand: Alienware Memory (RAM): 8 GB Processor Type: Core i7 Primary Drive: DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz Features: 10/100 LAN Card Hard Drive Capacity: 700 GB Processor: Intel® Quad Core i7-2760QM SandyBridge Processor (3.5Ghz Max Turbo Boost) Ram: 8GB Hard drive: 700GB Serial ATA (7200RPM) Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 6990m Graphics Card Keyboard: Internal UK/Irish (Qwerty) Backlit Keyboard Screen: (17.3") FHD (1920 x 1080) LCD Panel Wireless communication: KILLER 1103n Wifi Operating system: Windows 7 Optical Drive: Standard CD/DVD I think I may look for something abit newer. Not much wrong with my current Laptop, only had it about a year and it ran FM12 fine. But with FM13, the fan is constanly making a loud noise while FM13 is running. I assume it's struggling to handle FM13? Or FM is causing it to over-heat? There is also a lag when I'm trying to drag players on the tactics screen/match screen, and when I click away from and back to the 'inbox' screen. For a couple of seconds I can just see the Skin background image, untill the inbox messages finally appear. So I think my laptop is definitely struggling to cope with FM13. My current Laptop specs: Edit: & it's got 446gb Hard Drive Capacity.
tbh
Is your budget £450?My misgiving with both of those is that the resolution on both of 1366 x 768 isn't that great, but I have a feeling that's pretty standard for 15" laptops. Yeah £450. Can you find me a decent laptop that's in the big shops like comet, currys etc as i'm going into town tomorrow and buying one. Thanks
mysticeye
Thanks 'welshace', you've been very helpful. If you have any thoughts on specific brand names it would be welcome, but I think I probably have enough info to go ahead now. Will let you know what I eventually purchase. Thanks to you Eugene too, it's appreciated.

At $450 any machine you get from a shop in town is going to be at best average. You'll make more of that money if you research online. If you've gone into the shops to look for a computer, then you haven't done enough research to buy something genuinely good, so you may as well buy whatever takes your fancy since they're going to be much the same. tbh
Okay yeah I understand, I've had a look at a lot better machines and seen 2. They're basically the same except the first one comes with more ram and the other has a better graphics card. For FM there's no difference whatsoever, as 4gb of ram is plenty and any dedicated graphics will do, but if you plan on playing any other games then go with the second one. Crispypaul
Yeah £450. Can you find me a decent laptop that's in the big shops like comet, currys etc as i'm going into town tomorrow and buying one. Thanks This would be ok: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/asus-k55vd-sx504h-15-6-laptop-black-17056520-pdt.html Decent enough processor, 4gb RAM, and a dedicated (although quite low end) graphics card so the 3D would be half decent. It does have quite a good screen too. If you're not too worried about graphics, integrated ones should be fine for FM, and you'll be able to get a better processor, like with these two: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-series-3-300e5c-15-6-laptop-pink-15119702-pdt.html http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-g580-15-6-laptop-blue-17056544-pdt.html Unfortunately Comet is about to go bust so the website isn't around. EDIT: as mentioned above you'll probably get a better deal somewhere online.

foe
Hi guys, so I've got a question about this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1269327.html which seems quite popular in this thread. I'm looking for a laptop that will last for at least good 5 years, play FM whilst running other programs simultaneously (eg iTunes, multiple tabs open in firefox, maybe even video), and possibly one or two other games (nothing massively graphic intensive, just something like FIFA etc). Would it be able to do the job? Also, what's the difference between that Acer and this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1152340.html which appears to be a poorer spec (1gb less gfx card) but the same price? Cheers. TheHunkpapa
Hi, some help would be appreciated for me also please. From reading through this thread I think either of these should do me. Pretty much just FM, watching movies and general internet use. The second one looks the better to go for to me, having the 3rd gen i5, and better integrated graphics card to go with it, however the first one has a higher rrp. Is this just due to the ram and hard drive, or am I missing something else? Any feedback would be appreciated. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Packard_Bell_EasyNote_TS11_1296973.html http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Packard_Bell_EasyNote_TE11_1286917.html Ideally I'd like to be able to run about 15 leagues, 50k players for about 20 seasons, without massive slow down. If that won't be likely, please let me know.
tbh
@TheHunkpapa - Integrated graphics cards are rubbish compared to dedicated ones, you're best paying that little bit more and go for something like this what i've gone for today, cannot go wrong at all mate. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5750G_1173735.html
TheHunkpapa
@tbh - Unfortunately £400 is pushing it as it is. I thought the integrated graphics would be enough for fm, which is the only game I play anyway. I take it the rest of the spec would be fine? Cheers for the feedback. Craglyboy
Right as someone else has said they are looking at an asus n56 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Asus-N56VZ-S4044V-Notebook.78305.0.html I am trying to find the vz version, but can only find it a pc world and refuse to believe they are the only ones who sell it in the UK, any help would be appreciated. Welshace
dont think its supported officially in the uk so its a bit hard to come by... but you can usually find a decent seller on ebay or some such.. if you've found one in pc world.. and if the price isnt bad.. id suggest that... otherwise, consider calling the manufacturer direct, they might be able to help. I've had joy in getting 20% or more off when calling direct for rarer items. edit: i know curry's do it as well, but considering they are the same company as pc world.. i suppose that's to be expected. http://computerpirates.co.uk also do the vz versions... but i can't tell you if they are reliable or not, never used them
Frankie 7
I am looking for a laptop for my daughter. LOL she doesnt play FM but does play The Sims. Uses the net and youtube. Listens to Music. edit: Oh just remembered her Hubby may want to play a bit of FM. I am going to wait until after new year to get myself a new one for FM. Love this thread though. Welshace what would you recommend for my daughter then? Hoping to hit the £400 mark if possible as not sure if The Sims needs a lot on a lappy. Welshace
sims 3 isnt that graphics intensive so anything aboard over a hd 3000 will be fine you aren't going to get a super machine for that price so i'd be looking at something like this: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Packard_Bell_TS11_Core_i5_Windows_7_Laptop__NX.BWREK.011/version.asp#maindesc great cpu for the price range, 6 gb ram, 500gb hdd and it should run sims3 on medium or higher easily. and a bit of fm of course the speakers on a packard bell arent hugely impressive but for everyday use .. its great for the price

Frankie 7
Just a quick word about Currys. Aguero_16
Sorry if I'm asking a question so many have probably already asked. I've played fm for a number of years however this year I've not got a laptop and now in in a position where I need to buy one to play FM13. I don't really want the laptop for any other use than basic computing and playing FM13, I never really play fm on anything more than 2 leagues and I'm not too bothered about the 3d aspect of it. There's numerous laptops on currys etc for around about £329/£350 which is what I'm looking at paying but a bit concerned as most of them don't meet minimum spec of 2.2ghz. Am I being optimistic with wanting a laptop in the price range of £350 to play FM? Any advice on what I should be looking at as literally no idea and want to spend as little as possible. Any advise appreciated. Here's a couple I've been looking at.... http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_C850-1C9_Windows_8_Laptop__PSCBWE-02T00NEN/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_E1_Windows_8_Core_i3_Laptop_-_Black-Silver_NX.M09EK.001/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_E1_Windows_8_Laptop_-_Black-Silver_NX.M12EK.005/version.asp Any of the above good enough? MSCCG
Being of the 'old git' variety, I would appreciate some help on this subject. I'm buying a laptop for my Grandson for Xmas, and hoping he will become part of the 'FM' scene. The above has already been helpful, but my Grandson also enjoys 'Minecraft' on line. Would this require a higher spec machine than the one's quoted as perfectly suitable for FM? What do you think 'welshace', or anybody else please...? the trick is to get him something good enough for FM but not quite good enough for other games so he's forced to play and enjoy it. tucker1984
so i went to currys earlier and couldnt help but feel i was being ripped off so didnt make any buys, thanks for the advice on that earlier, my current laptop spec is below Toshiba Satellite L450-13X Processor: AMD Sempron 2.1ghz RAM: 4GB Graphics: ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics 1 core processor 64 bit operating system, dont know what else to include on that, a few of questions- 1. Is that **** for FM? 2. If not, it seems to run slow especially through international fixtures and so on and euro cup fixtures, is this normal? 3. If its not normal what can i do to speed it up or do i need a new laptop? i dont use the 3d match engine and normally only run 1 league at a time, but thats mainly cos its so slow, cheers
