JordanBlackpoolFC
Looking for a laptop myself for FM too...It sounds like the general advice is to go for: Acer seems to be the recommended brand 8GB RAM (4GB minimum) Dedicated graphics card i7 processor? Although the only £500 i7's don't have dedicated graphics cards, but the i5's do I have £500 to spend like most people. I saw the beginning of this thread and was quite excited about the Acer Aspire 5755G: http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5755G_1175154.html But it's sold out! Probably because of this thread! I take it saveonlaptops is the best place to look though? When I bought that Acer Aspire it only cost 350 I think! And it's still going strong now! I would recommend saveonlaptops though, they always seem to do good deals. With 500 pound you should be able to find a good laptop that's on sale. Never thought that when I started this thread it would get almost 1,000 posts!
diakenes
With users commenting on how difficult it is to read certain texts of the game in full HD screens 15.6 or 17 "inches which is what they use existing laptops, you still want to buy one to play this game? Sigames not give solutions to the size of the text, or what is the same: No laptops supports. Do not buy this game thinking portable unless sigames say something about the font size for this year ... JB_Swindon
New poster! In dire need of a new laptop, have been for about a year - so I thought I'd get my act together and buy a decent enough laptop FM14. Problem is, I have no idea where to start. I have a budget of between £350-500 really.. I could probably go a bit higher if needs must. Had a quick search and found this one http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/laptops/pavilion-15-e092ea-15-6-laptop-red-21449714-pdt.html But it seems like the processor is too slow for FM14? Would the fact it's quad-core make any difference? It's got 8GB of RAM and a dedicated graphics card as well.. I'm just a tad worried about processor speed - would it run FM14 fine? Any recommendations on laptops within my budget would be great as well!

The thing is the gap between the two CPUs is not huge, so performance shouldn't be noticeably different, and the increased ram and hdd will let you do a lot more with the computer. It's sleek and powerful http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/asus-n56.htm but the specs aren't exactly stunning. But Lenovos are very powerful for the price http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/lenovo-z580.htm this acer is also good value http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_V3-571G_1318329.html They should all do what you like if you're not looking for anything too flash and just want a good, solid laptop that can play FM and also work on for several years. They are even good enough to play most other games you might want to try. As a point of reference, my own laptop is similar to the Acer and I play I think over 20 leagues, with maybe 10 active countries. But as you know, it depends on how long you can endure the loading times. I find mine bearable, especially because I play quite slowly anyway and also because I tend to play other games/watch videos/read while I play. Thats what I thought after a day researching! Bought off Dell last time, and had a good experience. Using Dell's 7% coupon brings it down to £600, so for anyone currently in the market, take a look Battery power's not the best if that's important to you, but I usually run off charge anyway

Ianinuk
Yeah I would hope that a £600 laptop would at least be able to handle the next few iterations of FM. My only slight concern with laptops is that they appear to be a lot harder to upgrade than desktops, so I suppose a laptop would be time-limited, whereas a desktop could theoretically do FM indefinitely

Yes I have this notebook, I made a bad purchase at the beginning of last year. Well I found the fm 12 real quick, now 13 fm the days passed I found it very slow, and only slightly improved with patches, especially the closing window transferênciasé very slow processing, the days take much longer to pass than 12 ms. I do not care about graphics, game in 2d, like the days pass at a good speed, and I play with a few countries and several playable in view only, usually very customize before creating a game, players carry specific to a particular region and so on. To the expectation that fm 14 is faster than the 13, it seems that it has been optimized

It is enough to run FM of course but RAM is not an indicator how well or how fast it will run. First indicator is CPU then GPU and for RAM the minimum nowadays (win 7 and 8) is 8GB. It looks like they bumped up the price because the screen has been upgraded. Previously, the screen was not full HD and now it is. It is worth the extra £50 if you value screen resolution in my opinion. The value is still good, many computers with similar specs are around the same price and again, buying from them directly gives you some good service. MSCCG
guys any thoughts on this - advice very welcome It doesn't look like it has a dedicated video card so might struggle with the 3D mode. As well as that, it doesn't seem to be quite worth the money for a refurbished model. What will you use it for besides FM? And how long are you looking to keep this computer for? And what is your budget? Was there any reason you picked this laptop in particular? 8GB of RAM is good, but FM doesn't quite need it, especially if you can get a better CPU and graphics card if you choose less RAM. burdinho
thanks mate. The laptop will be purely for FM...Id rather not spend 6/700 because I don't need any advanced graphics cards. I do completely get the point though about scrimping and saving eventually costing you more in the long run! But a laptop isnt central to running my life (although FM is life of course...) My 6 year old laptop runs FM13 just about OK how about this one http://www.ebuyer.com/523540-hp-250-g1-laptop-h6e24ea-abu
