I can get it for about £200, that was just the 1st page I found with the specs on to show. Don't get that, it's a terrible computer for the price because it is so outdated. Basically you'd be buying a £200 laptop that will become a brick by next year. The reason being that it was released maybe 2-3 years ago, and it uses integrated graphics - not the new, fancy type but the old, shared type so it might not even run the 3D match engine properly. Look for an i series Intel CPU and dedicated graphics with 4GB or more RAM at least. If you do really really like it though it should play, just slowly and no 3D. My advice is to hold out until you can pay at least £400, if not £6-

DuncanJM
I think it will be allright, as long as there are not that many players loaded. It has a dedicated graphics card which is useful, but you could do with a better processor. An i5 should run a big save comprehensively, an i3 will do ok and the processor on this laptop will struggle

Both will run FM but Acer better. However, in terms of actual portability ignoring battery life, they are the same weight and size.

Thanks a bunch. 1. Yes, but this laptop uses a low powered version of the latest intel chip, which might not run as well. On the flip side, battery life is improved. 2 + 3. I don't know. Speed is subjective and you can load those but it will depend on how you play the game. Looks like you play with a conservative load, so it won't be so bad. 4. Might not be great because in built Intel HD graphics is not quite as mature as they advertise it to be. 5. You are welcome. Looks like a great little computer and if you need the portability you will need to sacrifice speed. You can definitely play FM on it, not too sure about performance. If you don't really need to carry it around a lot but would just like to, I suggest you get a more heavy duty laptop. It's not as practical as you might think to have a super light but low-powered computer which still isn't as light as a tablet.

SW88
Hi all. Been reading these pages a few times over the past few weeks, as I've decided I need FM back, as the handheld version just isn't the same. Last laptop lasted me well, but went a knacker over 18 months ago. Not sure how I've lasted this long without a replacement and just a iPhone and iPad! Found a couple of laptops, varying in price range, but not sure if would be any good for what I need it for. Main uses will be FM (priority), Microsoft office stuff, internet, photo editing / printing etc (nothing too complex). Are any of the following any good? http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/LENOVO-Z500-59399414_1492688.html http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/LENOVO-Z500-59399413_1492687.html (same as above but i7 and bigger price tag, but if performance would be decent, would consider paying it) http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/LENOVO-U410-MAH9ZUK_1296567.html (no disc drive in this one though which is putting me off, although FM would run off steam). And finally http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Sony-VAIO-Fit-14-SVF1421X1EW.CEK_1507073.html#DetailTop (although this has an integrated rather than dedicated graphics card; unsure if FM needs a dedicated one to get the best out of it). I'm concerned I won't be able to load many leagues with my macbook. It's important to experiment with getting the speed you are comfortable with. I actually play FM on my laptop at home, plugged in to a big monitor with a video usually playing on the laptop screen, so I don't mind it being slower. I have a SSD on my computer but I don't store FM on it. Once it is loaded onto RAM, it shouldn't matter anyway I'm told. A small database will have lower processing time. And it doesn't seem like adding custom graphics has a huge impact on performance, especially given the enhance in experience that you get from having real team names and logos etc.

The expensive one is the best value out of them though, extra £60 for a better processor, 2GB RAM and 1GB more video RAM.

It's hard to recommend any of them outright, but you want to look at the second and third ones, as CPU power is quite important for FM now. 8GB RAM is fine, and a better graphics card is a necessity if you want to run games besides FM, but not if you aren't. So the third one if you are just playing FM, second one if you want to do more while playing FM or play other games besides FM. Keep in mind that none of these are what would be considered "gaming rigs".

Wildie
Hi, This looks really high spec but I'm not sure - not the most technically minded when it comes to computing! Will this run the 3D match engine easily? Lenovo IdeaPad Z500 15.6-inch Laptop - White (Intel Core i7 2.2GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, DVDRW, LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth, Webcam, Nvidia Graphics, Windows 8)

What do you use your computer for? This one is weak for the price. You'll want i5 processor at least if possible and a dedicated graphics card. It will run FM and the 3D matches easily.
Codename47
I have an LCD monitor with a DVI only port. I have a PS3 (which my mate gave to me). Question: Please confirm whether it is correct to get an HDMI/DVI converter cable to plug in from my PS3 to monitor? Also, if I wish to plug in my desktop PC to the monitor, aswell as my PS3, do I need a double as the monitor has only one port? Many thanks
Fletchdt
I need to replace my old Lenovo laptop which i have had for 4+ years. I have narrowed it down to these 3. My choice is very limited as i live in Cambodia and we only have one shop really that sells genuine laptops. I mainly use my laptop for playing FM, browsing the web, watching movies and listening to music. Which one of the three is the best value for money? Also which one would be able to run alot of different leagues in FM the best. Im thinking the 2nd option, but as i know very little about laptops i could be completely wrong. 1.Lenovo IdeaPad Z480 ( LL-557 ) Intel Core i5-3210M (2.5GHZ, 3MB Cache) 4GB DDR2 SDRAM 750B HDD SATA 14 WXGA Nvidia GeForce GT630M 2GB 669$ 2.Dell Inspiron 5537 (LE-600) Intel Core i5-4220U (1.60GHZ, 3MB Cache) 4GB DDR3 750GB HDD SATA 15.6 HD WLED DVD+/-RW AMD Radeon HD 8850M 2GB 709$ 3.Dell Inspiron 5437 (LE-540) Intel Core i5-4220U (1.60GHZ, 3MB Cache) 4GB DDR3 500B HDD SATA 14 HD WLED DVD+/-RW Nvidia GeForce GT740M 2GB 699$ Thanks
