lfc7
Hi thanks i was also wondering minimum specs for fm 15 says Radeon 9800 so does that mean it wont run on Radeon 7480D ? Thanks

Smurf
Ok - the thing you need to realise here is 7480D is a processor - with a built in GPU Radeon 9800 is a graphics card - not a processor. The 7480D - probably capable of low - medium The 9800 is probably capable of low to medium as well. But one is a processor and the other is a graphics card. I think you're a bit confused on this - can you post a link to both computers so I can double check everything for you?
lfc7
Sorry if I didn't make it clearer. I have just got a new computer with Radeon 7480D and as the minimum specs for fm15 are Radeon 9800 I wasn't sure if it would play FM 15 with the number being lower if you know what I mean These are my specs 3.4 Ghz Dual Core AMD CPU 8GB Fast DDR3 System RAM 500GB SATA Hard drive 24x DVD Writer DVI VGA USB 3.0 ATI Radeon 7480D 450w Quality PSU
Smurf
It's on par with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 - but it's a slow CPU in general terms and you will probably get slow frame rates if you're playing on highest detail. Stick to low-medium detail.

fraz86
Would this laptop be ok for running fm HP Pavilion 15-n268sa AMD A10-5745M APU Windows 8.1 Memory: 8 GB Hard drive: 1 TB Thanks in advance
Smurf
It's a low end processor - uses ultra low power, probably won't get much above 2.1 ghz playing FM. There's enough ram and hard drive space. Don't expect it to play FM 3d on medium-high graphics though.

Smurf
It was an entry level laptop about two years ago. So I wouldn't say it would hold up great on todays market. Although should be fine for FM for small amount of leagues, min database, and low level detail on 3d.

Chambers2020
Looking for new laptop for fm15. Dont know too much about them though. Would rather get one from currys ect. So i can see it before i buy it plus if any probs can take back easily. Had a look and was wondering about this one. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-n271sa-15-6-laptop-red-21832011-pdt.html#longDesc The Pavilion 15 is powered by an AMD A4-5000M APU. With four cores over the usual two, it makes short work of everyday tasks such as word processing, watching films and playing browser games. The AMD A4-5000M is an APU, a processor with a dedicated graphics card built into it. This reduces the strain on the processor, letting it run more quickly when you're watching films, playing games or undertaking other graphically intense tasks. It also improves the visual quality of general computing, giving you better images no matter what you're doing. The 4 GB of RAM helps with multi-tasking, letting you work on multiple programs simultaneously using Windows' handy snap feature that places two programmes at either side of the screen. coleman10
Hi all Been over 2 years since playing FM (Sadly far too long) Looking to buy a new laptop for FM15 only. grindline
Does anybody know how much difference in performance I am likely to notice (if any) with my newer laptop? I am currently running a 2010 MacBook, Core 2 Duo 2.4GHx with 4GB RAmM but am likely to be getting a new MacBook Pro 2.5GHz i5 with 8GB RAM. http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MD101B/A&step=config I like fast play without processing time for fixtures so I currently load only a few leagues. I wondered if I would be able to load more and process at the same speed. I am planning on running roughly 7 league from 2 countries but if I can get the same processing speed with more leagues on the newer computer I would love to. MSCCG
Actually for 20 quid more the retina has a marginally faster processor and SSD. Is SSD a good idea? Yes, SSD doesn't just make FM faster it makes pretty much everything smoother. Also I suggest you try and sell your current laptop as Apple gear tends to retain value fairly well. You should see a pretty big boost in performance.

The laptops are actually very similar as you have probably noticed. the 3110M is older, but runs at a higher base clock and thus uses more power. The 4210U uses less power but runs a bit slower. However, it is newer and that means that the hardware won't depreciate as quickly. If you look at the comparison, you'll see that each has its advantages spec-wise: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-3110M-vs-Intel-4210U My advice would be to look at what mainly whether you'll be taking your laptop on the road much. If you do, the U series chips help preserve power and give you more portability. If not, the M series chips perform slightly better.
Smurf
Avoid the "u" processors like the plague. They run slower than the M processors to save on power. "u" laptops are designed for the on the go and longer battery life, and are not efficient for a processor hungry FM.
Tuddur
General advice: get a pc/laptop with high screen res Have seen the game running on some low-res screens and squad/tactic-view is just a pain to watch. ` Especially some low-budget laptops come with low res like 1366x768. I would atleast check what FM looks like on those before buying

Smurf
If it's good enough to run Fm14 then it's good enough for FM15. However, you should start saving for a new computer. martplfc1
Yours isn't too dissimilar to mine, and the beta works fine (three nations selected, small database, low detail). I can get discount on this Lenovo and it seems to be a top spec, but my question is, does anyone else run the same sort of GPU and CPU spec on a Lenovo and are they bad for overheating if I was running as many leagues as possible with a large database? http://www.johnlewis.com/store/lenovo-y50-70-laptop-intel-core-i7-16gb-ram-1tb-8gb-sshd-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-black/p1603127?navAction=jump&_requestid=13108224
Smurf
The more leagues you run the more processing is needed - so the hotter the processor runs. However, that's a fine laptop and I can't imagine it having any issues. If you find it's overheating - then there are ways to combat that - buy a laptop cooler - ensure vents are kept clear - buy additonal desk fan. Not too fussed about the quality of the match engine graphics, so everything on minimum, 1 league, small DB. Don't think any that size have dedicated graphics so just wondering if anyone has tried it? There's a difference between laptop/ultrabook and something you haven't mentioned, which is a netbook. FM will play fine on laptop/ultra book baring in mind that it keeps within FM resolution min specs. What that minimum resolution is I cannot find online - maybe a mod/si member can comment? Ultrabooks are typically light weight and choose components that do not drain power, as FM is a processor monger it will need to use the processor excessively. Ultrabooks don't typically have very fast processor, all in save power on your computer while traveling, and this will be compounded by the fact that the processor will be used excessively with FM - meaning that it will get hotter - the hotter the processor gets the less fast it will run, trying to cool down. If you do get an Ultrabook - check out the processor speeds, and also invest in a cooling pad for it.
