Mccue22
Ok - this is a U processor - so it won't be very fast compared to other models - and the graphics card is an entry level (not very good). For that money consider this http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/59395010-Lenovo-Z510_1536137.html Thanks for checking mate. I'm looking to get it of the very website so I can pay up. Would the one I said really be no use? I don't run that many leagues and would be looking for 5 star graphics. Noticed the one you showed me didn't have full 1080 Hd screen resolution which sorta puts me off.

Full HD screen has nothing to do with how it handles the graphics - that's handled by the graphics card. And the one you pointed to had a not so good graphics card, the one I pointed to has a better graphics card. It's completely up to you which one you get. okozumasa
There's a difference between laptop/ultrabook and something you haven't mentioned, which is a netbook.FM will play fine on laptop/ultra book baring in mind that it keeps within FM resolution min specs. What that minimum resolution is I cannot find online - maybe a mod/si member can comment? Ultrabooks are typically light weight and choose components that do not drain power, as FM is a processor monger it will need to use the processor excessively. Ultrabooks don't typically have very fast processor, all in save power on your computer while traveling, and this will be compounded by the fact that the processor will be used excessively with FM - meaning that it will get hotter - the hotter the processor gets the less fast it will run, trying to cool down. If you do get an Ultrabook - check out the processor speeds, and also invest in a cooling pad for it. "If you are using a Netbook, the minimum resolution requirements for FM2015 (1024 x 768) will not be met, as the screen resolution of your computer is 1024 x 600."https://support.sega.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/201580552-Troubleshooting-Game-Launch-Issues Thanks guys, yea looking to stay away from netbooks. I think the resolution should be fine just the processor that might be the problem, will have to look for the best cooling option.

skipper27
Hi there, I've not played FM fora few years but I can feel the addiction stirring inside again. So I need to buy a laptop (UK based) to run FM15 smoothly, but also for general home use - browwing / watching dvds / storing music & pics etc. Not great with laptops etc but can anyone recommend a laptop in region of £500-700 that is suitable. Thanks in advance
Weezer
Okay, so after my 4 year old laptop spent over 6 and a half hours yesterday laboriously trying to delete my FM graphics folder I think it's probably time to get a new one. What sort of specs should I be looking at to get the best out of a £600-700 budget? Other than the basics like web browsing, music and videos it'll be primarily a games laptop. It's main purpose will be playing FM with a fair few leagues playing (and for once I'd like to be able to view games in 3D) but I'd like it to be able to play a few slightly more graphics intensive games too so would prefer one with a decent graphics card. I don't mind going a little over budget if there's something that makes it worthwhile.

Ben14
Hi chaps, not sure where to put this or whether I need to get in touch with steam. Preordered FM15 throug ShopTo, so had the beta code. Thought I'd download it so there was less to install on release day, but haven't played that. Since that, my computer has died. So I've ordered a new one. But it doesn't have a cd drive. Am I right in thinking I'd need the cd-rom to complete the installation that I've started? Obviously, that can't happen now, and now I've used the code, I can't send it back or give to a friend because it'll be assigned to my steam account. Annoying! Is there anything I can do? Smurf
Thanks so much. Will purchase in the next week or so. It'll run the 3D match engine yeah? Absolutely won't be any good for 3D matches - consider upping your budget. You'll be able to play on low detail barely. Ok found this one on Very. If the laptop allows a resolution of 1080 - you can change that in the display properties. I think you're confusing HD TVs with laptops, it's not quite the same thing. What does the NAND drive do? Won't be able to get that laptop without paying it all upfront though I presume. It's a solid state drive, similar to how a usb stick works, it's basically faster at loading/saving games. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW-ACER-LATEST-Intel-QUAD-CORE-Windows8-1-15-6-Long-Battery-Light-Weight-/201177220436?pt=AU_comp_laptop&hash=item2ed718c554do people think that would be ok for running fm15? Smurf
For 999 pounds you could get a beast of a laptop which would be far better for FM. Are you settled on a 13 inch? Or would 15 be ok? I've always been of the opinion that Macs are terribly overpriced, well built though, but overpriced for what's under the hood.

BnadnerB
Hmmm I do understand but was also buying into the whole Apple experience. Smurf
The mac is running a dual processor - not a quad core processor. The more leagues you are running the faster the processor and more cores will really help with processing. There have been reports that the Lenovo overheats a lot - but I can't confirm that. If a computer overheats it tries to cool itself down by putting the fans on overdrive, and the processor will run at a lower speed to try and cool itself. Sadly, Macbooks also suffer from this. I really think you should check out https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ You can custom build your laptop and you'll have a much better computer than anything you buy off the shelf, mac or pc. Only 3 months old and still under warranty etc. Would be looking to add a 250gb SSD as the main drive pretty much straight away. So do you reckon it's worth it considering I'll have to buy an SSD separate? Ended up going with this - MSI GE60 Intel i7 4700MQ (4th Gen) processor with up to 3.4GHZ turbo boost. 8GB RAM 128GB SSD 750GB Sata 7200RPM HDD DVD-RW drive NVidia 765M GTX with 2GB RAM Windows 8.1 15.6" full HD 1920x1080 anti-glare LCD Steelseries keyboard with backlit display Decent buy for £590? Reckon it'll be able to run 100k players for 10 or so seasons without much slow down? Other than knowing I wanted an SSD and at least 8GB ram I'm clueless when it comes to computers. Just used benchmark sites to judge the CPU/GPUs. Should be here tomorrow so can't wait! Considering I'll be switching from a 7 year old Acer laptop that's felt like it's on the verge of exploding for the last 2 years it should be some leap regardless. Is it worthwhile upgrading the ram to 16GB or is there really no point at this stage? Atm FM15 is probably the heaviest use it's gonna get as I'm too busy with uni work, although I'm considering not bothering with a PS4/Exbox and just using this for gaming as tbh I'm happy enough with FM, Fifa, a racing sim and a fps these days. Rebs
Reeto - advice time - I got my current laptop (HP Probook i3) from a link I think that Wakers put on here for us, but it's starting to be on its way out and I think it's best if I invest in a new one. So here I am again looking for any advice on a new machine. Requirements: 1. I'd like an i5 or an i7 I think, although I'm not too techy when it comes to spec and stuff so not sure if there's anything out there that rivals those 2. It will mainly be used for work - so I'll need to get Microsoft Office and all that (my old work IT lads installed office for me on this machine, the new work place won't I think) 3. It'll will also be used for using the net and watching streams 4. I might get FM again if I've got a new machine - I like to run quite a few leagues if possible, hence wanting something better than my current i3 5. I could probs spend £500 at most, but I'd prefer it to be as low a price as possible whilst still being a good machine I've done some very basic searching on laptops direct and would any of these be decent? Here's all the i5 machines that seem to be in my budget... http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_...15/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/ASUS_...7H/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/BLACK...0G/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/BLACK...7G/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshi...EN/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_...05/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Hewle...EA/version.asp http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Fujit...GB/version.asp Here's the one i7 that seems to be in my budget... http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Acer_...32/version.asp Any help is much appreciated.
