Is it just me that gets quite frustrated with opposition instructions in every iteration of the game? Somebody please correct me if I am wrong on this and I hope I am wrong, but I don't understand why it isn't possible to set up opposition instructions in the tactics section for specific positions and then have it automatically apply in game to the opponent.

it just makes it so much easier to click the apply assistance advice button and just forget about them because it is a pain having to apply the instructions in every game, especially when you use a lot.

I just don't see the point in having the opposition instructions menu there outside of the game when it doesn't transfer into a match.

And on a side note the colouring of the opposition instructions is so faint that at times it is very difficult to tell between the green and amber without turning the brightness of the PC right up.

As I said I hope I am wrong about opposition instructions and just completely missing the option, but on every version of the game I have played it has been the same.

You can though? Just go to tactics, opposition instruction and switch to position? It's always been this way. You're setting up for the position rather than a player because you don't know who will be selected.

I know you can do that, but when you set for example every position to press always, it doesn't automatically assign to the opposition when you get into a match. You always have to set all your OIs up again

It does though.

Well what are you doing to achieve that? Because when I'm not in a game, I go to the opposition instructions tab and set it all up on the "positions" tab. Then when I get into the match and go to opposition instructions, it is as if nothing has been set

Are you looking at the right page when you're in a match? Because the default will be to show OIs for specific players. You need to click to show OIs by position.

Just to answer the post above first... I am assigned to do OIs, not my coaches.

And I am on the correct screen in match. If what you're saying is correct, literally the only thing I can think of is that I play with the text and image setting as "zoomed in" and that it has eliminated the option to switch to "position" when in match, because I see no option to switch to "position" when on the OI screen in a match.

I wil have to give it a try when I am next on FM because the zoomed in option sometimes does get rid of things it can't fit on the screen. Its the only thing I can think of qhich could be why I aren't seeing the option to switch to "position" when I get into a match.

I'll check later when I have the game open in front of me. It was like this in FM18, so would most likely still be the same.

Is there a way to show OIs by position in the game this year? I'm not seeing it and it looks like none of my reset instructions are there...

Yes, there is. When a match is underway, positional OIs are immediately next to the player ones in the screenshot you posted - i.e. the positional OIs occupy the left half of OIs (as those in bright green representing players are in the right half of the icons). What is a bit annoying though is that you have to click each of them separately. Out of matches it's a lot easier, as you can select the option "Positions" in the OI section and then set up your preferred instructions for each single position that exists in the game.

I see now, thanks!

The OP seems to have been shouted down, but I agree with him that instructions you give in Tactics are not carried into a match. I can only assume it's a bug.

I have not set OIs to be taken care of by anyone other than myself, and yes, I am looking at the correct screen.

I'd be delighted to be told I'm being dense and missing something,  but I don't think I am ...

Clearly I have made some selections here ...  ... but they do not show up here

The OIs that you set in the left hand screen are applied but aren't shown in the right hand screen. I've raised this as feature request as it's certainly confusing.

Ahh, so they do work, but it just doesn't display? At the risk of asking an obvious question, how do you know they definitely do apply if it's not indicated?

I can’t prove that they apply however if they didn’t the whole input screen for general OIs would be a useless inclusion to the game.

I was gonna ask about this (for FM 19) - if I set the OIs in the tactic screen pre-match for any players in a specific position, then to make them work is it needed to go in-match and tick / switch "apply to any player in this position" ? Or are they auto-applied (as intended) ?
