Jimbokav1971
Youth Intake Day. Sep 2050. A "One of the most gifted" tag is not the best thing I have ever seen, but it's far from a disaster too. The other thing to be said at this stage is that the 2 players who the HoYD mention as being influenced by him both have (F.Pro) personalities. Let's have a look at the HoYD again.... So he is actually (F.Pro) too. Let's look at what we have got. There is 1x 5.0 PA player, (which is the benchmark for a good intake). We have a few good personalities, (1x Pro, 1x Driven, 4x F.Pro). We have a problem with (Det) values in this intake with 3x 3's and 3x 4's. We have 2 Portugese and 1 German 2nd Nationalities. (50a) Antônio (2050) (Unamb) *. (50b) Buiú (Pro) *. (50c) César (Driven) *. (50d) Rosa (F.Pro). I think we often get a bit caught up in 5.0 PA stars, (I know I do), and when we get one we assume that he will be brilliant, (or at least hope), and at the same time assume that everyone with low PA stars will be rubbish. I think there is more to it than that. I don't particularly like (50a) Antônio (2050) (Unamb) * if I'm honest. Don't get me wrong, he's ok, (he's better than ok), but he doesn't really stand out for me. (50b) Buiú (Pro) * on the other hand is a player I really do like. I see him as perfectly suited to slotting into the left of the 2 central midfield positions in the DLP(s) role. (50c) César (Driven) * might be more suited to a DM role, but I think he has all the makings of an excellent BBM(s). I may have wanted a striker, but I am more than happy with these 2. Jimbokav1971
Sep 2050. Copa Libertadores. Corinthians were too strong for us and beat us both home and away. Brazilian Cup. They also knocked us out of the Cup despite us leading 2-1 after the 1st leg. First Division. Too many draws meant that we Oct 2050. First Division. Nov 2050. First Division. Dec 2050. First Division. Goal-scoring GK (48c) Jalvan (Res) * finished the season on 17 goals, (that brings him to a career total of 24 goals). He played 66 games this season and other GK's played in 9 games meaning that we played a total of 75 games. As we lost in the Quarters of both the Copa Libertadores and the Brazilian Cup it means that we could have played 4 more games in each competition which would have brought us to 74 games. On top of that we have World Club Championship games and also any Super-Cup games that exist over here.
Jimbokav1971
End of Season update. Dec 2050. Acre State Championship. Almost a perfect campaign. We might have won all 14 of our games in the League phase, but we conceded 2 goals and my target is to win 14 out if 14 games without conceding a goal. That's obviously not that easy when we are set up to attack and when Rio Branco (AC) play play in the 2nd tier, (so aren't completely rubbish). Everyone else is effectively non-league. The playoff phase went well, (especially the Semi), and it's just a shame that we again conceded another goal against Rio Branco (AC). These games are both over 2 legs by the way, (All South American knockout games I've seen so far are played over 2 legs), so no, we didn't beat them 21-0 over 90 minutes. Copa Verde. This was once an important Cup competition for us as it gave us a bye into the latter stages of the Brazilian Cup and this gave us about £0.5M prize money which was a big deal back then. Nowadays though I think I would prefer the extra games. If I was trying to set records for goals scored in a season or the like, then the plan would be to lose the final, (while obviously still scoring loads of goals), and then hammering whoever we played in the early rounds of the Brazilian Cup. As it is though, we are just trying to win every game, (and there are a lot of games. The competition is harder here in that as well as Rio Branco (AC), Paysande, Luverdense, Brasilianse, Cuiba & Remo are all "League" clubs. First Division. Part of me thinks that finishing outside the Top 11 would be a good idea in so much as we would get an opportunity to have a pop at the Copa Sudamerica title, but I don't really want to be throwing games for that to happen. What I have decided though is that while I'm not going to go full Youth Only again just yet, I am limiting myself to signing teenagers only from now on. I will also be heavily prioritising home produced youngsters in team selection. Copa Libertadores. Of course this is the "Big One", but we are a long way off even competing in the latter stages so I am really just enjoying it while it lasts at the moment. Corinthians comfortably beat us over 2 legs, (and even held us score-less in both games). They only finished 4th in the First Division this season so we have a long way to go yet. Brazilian Cup. I really want to win this, but again, it's not looking very likely at the moment. By winning the Copa Verde we get a bye into the Fifth Round and although we did really well to sneak past Sao Paulo on pens, Corinthians also beat is in this one, (but we were at least more competitive). The Quarters is probably where we should expect to get to based on our league finishes, but I really want to win this just to say I have done it. Brazilian U23 Championship. This is the 3rd time we have entered this competition and I have largely ignored it until now because forget about the U23's playing in the Senior Squad, the U20's are playing in the Senior Squad so there is no time to be wasted on this competition. That being said..... it's good to get the lads into a winning habit early. The whole league campaign is played during the month of June, (have to keep that in mind), as this will have an impact on Senior squad players who are made available for the U23's to stay match fit. They will get hammered in June. U20 Acre State. Although the U20's remained unbeaten, (drawing just 2 games), they conceded a whopping. (relatively), 18 goals, so they have a lot of work to do to catch up with the Seniors defensive record. U20 Cup. This would usually be the biggy for me at Youth level, but as there is a League, (or even 2 League phases actually), and then a Playoff to create a Champion, I think I prefer the National U20 Championship. National U20 Championship. 2 league phases and then a mini-Cup competition. What's not to love? Seasonal Best XI. Overall Best XI. End of Season Awards. Nogueira (Bal) *. (48c) Jalvan (Res) *. (47a) Witinei (F.Pro) (2047) *. Season Review. Dynamics. Confidence. Top Goalscorer Award. Young players of the Year. Mão (Unamb) *. Team of the Year. First Division Award Winners. Landoaldo (Bal). Jimbokav1971
Disaster. Jan 2051. (48c) Jalvan (Res) * was my 1st choice GK, and at the age of 18, although he was good for us, I didn't think anyone was going to meet his foreign club asking price of £5M. Unfortunately Monaco did and he was gone. I learned 1 lesson from the (48c) Jalvan (Res) * debacle and set the (49a) Fininho (F.Pro) * asking price at £4.9M, just under his £5M asking price. When Porto came in with a £4.9M bid I immediately countered with a 50% re-sale clause and a friendly. As soon as I did the deal though I regretted it. Any avid readers will remember the ridiculous deal I did when I sold (39b) Xabier (Res) * to Sporting Lisbon and then arranged to loan him back for no wages for 2 whole season. I still asked to get back (49a) Fininho (F.Pro) * in on loan, but it;s a separate deal and not linked at all to the transfer so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed. Sporting Lisbon came in for José Paulo (Bal) * and as he was not a product of our academy I was more keen to sell than the previous 2 players. I was still keen to chance my arm though so countered with 50% re-sale clause, a friendly and stuck a 2 year loan on just for the hell of it. the only positive here, (we have just lost a HG GK and a HG striker which is a disaster), is that we should be financially secure from now on. I will need to start playing hard-ball when negotiating contracts and but much bigger foreign club release clauses in.

Another perfect month in the State Championship means that we are still on course for a 0 goals against campaign. Copa Verde. Winning is great and clean-sheets here are a bonus, but in this competition all I care about is getting through to the next round. Copa Libertadores. We should qualify comfortably top of the league. Goal-scoring GK (49c) Jackson (Bal) scored 5 goals this month, (3 free-kicks and 2 penalties), to bring him to 6 for the season and 7 over his career. Jimbokav1971
Apr 2051. Acre State. 6 wins from 6 games with 41 goals scored and just 1 conceded. We were successful in achieving our target goal of going through the League Stage of the Acre State Championship without conceding a league goal, but we then went and spoiled things by conceding a goal in the away leg of the Semi. Copa Verde. We have now played 31 games this season and the reverse away to Macapa is our only loss. We did at least manage to over-turn the deficit in the 2nd leg and progress to the Final of the competition. Copa Libertadores. Goal-scoring GK (49c) Jackson (Bal) scored 3 goals this month, but he also failed to convert 4 attempts from the spot. He is up to 9 goals for the season and 9 career goals. It's not all good news though. (49c) Jackson (Bal) has now missed from the spot 11 times this season. Usually that would be enough for me to get rid of a GK, but I am keeping faith with him in the hope that things will change, (although I'm not convinced). He's not a 5.0 PA GK, but we might just have to continue with him until the Academy produces a better GK. I'm looking at Bodão (F.Pro) * in particular as who I might prefer to be 1st choice GK. Jimbokav1971
May 2051. Until the start of this months we had played 31 games, winning 30 and drawing 1. Suddenly though we are really struggling. We have 8 of our best players, (in fact more accurately our 8 best players), all away on International duty at the U20 World Cup, and they seem to be gone for about 6 weeks. That's a LOT of games they are missing for. As if that wasn't bad enough, we have 4 more players joining them at the start of June, at the U19 World Cup or something or other. Acre State. We might have lost a game, but we still won the trophy. I guess that's all that matters, but remember my goal was to win the whole competition without conceding a goal, so a little bit more work to do there. Copa Verde. We got lucky here, but it's another competition win, albeit a lucky one in my opinion. We are struggling with our best players missing and we really need our best players to be over the age where they are eligible for aged group competition to avoid this. Copa Libertadores. Brazilian Cup. I would like to say that this was a shock, but it really wasn't. We have been playing poorly, and with our best players missing are just not good enough. We deserved to lose. First Division. We won both our home games and lost both our away games. Our league form is probably better than our normal form so perhaps not time to panic just yet. [Edit] Goal-scoring GK Bodão (F.Pro) * was re-called from loan because Homegrown goal-scoring GK (49c) Jackson (Bal) was injured, (and I was already unhappy that he had been unsuccessful from the spot on 11 occasions this season), but once I had re-called Bodão (F.Pro) *, I realised that he was another who was International duty so I then re-called Aboubacar (GUI) * from loan, (after 1st checking that he also wasn't on International duty). Luckily, although he is only 20 years old, he already has 25 International Caps and is always in the Senior International squad rather than an aged group squad, so happily is not on International duty. scored 1 penalty from 1 taken, so perhaps I was correct to make the change and perhaps should have made it sooner. (49c) Jackson (Bal) has scored 10 goals this season, Aboubacar (GUI) * has scored 1 since his return, (49c) Jackson (Bal) missed 11 penalties and 6 other players have scored penalties, (while on a hat-trick), so that's 10+1+11+6 = 27 possible goals with an awful lot of the season still to play. Jimbokav1971
Jun 2051. First Division. Our home form is still good and we have taken 16 from a possible 18 points at home. Our away from is not quite so good where we have only taken 6 points from 18. Our International youngsters have returned and our starting strike force of Nogueira (Bal) * and Bruno (F.Pro) * should make an impact. We're sitting 3rd on the league, but Palmeiras & Internacional are creating a gap.

Jimbokav1971
Youth Intake Day. Sep 2051. Generational talent? Well that sounds great, but it's easy to get a 5.0 PA player or two when the 3 best players at the club, (in terms of CA), are all 18 years old. How good can they be? That being said, we have (51b) labelled as a generational talent by the HoYD and he's not even the top ranked player by PA. If (51b) is decent, then maybe (51a) is better than decent. "Kriss" (51a) Franc (L-Heart) (2051) *. He looks decent, but I don't use an AMC so will probably re-train him as a striker. That being said, maybe I should experiment and play him as a SS(a) just to see how it will go. The description suggests that at least out of possession it might fit well with the team style. Will probably have to see how he develops. If I can work out how to set individual instructions for him to play as a SS(a) in the U20's while not actually managing the squad at all then I might give that a go to see how it works. (51b) Emerson (Driven) *. I really like the GK, (just look at his free-kick attribute, although I appreciate that doesn't mean a lot). I just hope he can convert from the spot. The more I look at him the better he looks. (Just jumping and communication lacking).

Jimbokav1971
Sep 2051. Copa Libertadores. The 1st Round of the Qtr Final gave us a convincing win against the Argentinians. We should be able to comfortably ease through to the Semi's. First Division. We may not have won in the league this month, but we have been ok and have just been a little unlucky. We've fallen away just a little, but we still sit in 5th and have a game in hand on all 4 teams above us. Goal-scoring GK Bodão (F.Pro) * scored his 1st goal of the season. That sounds great, but he has played 21 games this season and scored just the 1 goal. When you compare that to (49c) Jackson (Bal) who has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances this season, (while managing to fail 11 times from the spot), then something seems off somewhere. I know that the early games were played against significantly poorer opposition, but we should be scoring more goals than we have in the 2nd half of the season. This is the recent from of Bodão (F.Pro) *. He's been having a decent number of shots on target, but at the same time is yet to fail from the spot. 1, 3, 1, 0, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 0 are his shots in recent matches.
Jimbokav1971
Oct 2051. Cop Libertadores. We led 3-0 from the 1st leg of the Quarter Finals, so progression was probable. Now trailing 3-0 after the 1st leg of the Semi-Finals, progression looks highly unlikely. First Division. Very hit and miss here. 2 decent wins together with 2 sizeable defeats. Palmeiras are running away with it at the top now, with Internacional, Corinthians and Chapecoense in a little group trailing them and then we lead a little group chasing the chasers. Jimbokav1971
Nov & Dec 2051. Copa Libertadores. We were trailing 3-0 from the 1st leg and I didn't really have much hope of turning it around. But after 32 minutes we were 3-1 up on the night and just needed 1 more goal. The only problem there was that we were just going down to 10 men and although we managed to score 2 more goals, Internacional scored 4 more to even it up on the night and confirm their progress through to the next round. I have absolutely no doubt that we would have won with a 3 goal margin had we kept 11 players on the pitch. We didn't keep 11 players on the pitch though and we didn't progress through to our 1st Copa Libertadores final. First Division. A bit of a ropy November was thankfully followed by an excellent December as we finished the season in some style .

Jimbokav1971
Aged Group Results. Jan 2052. I haven't really mentioned many aged group results because we win so many games, but I thought it was time for an update after last season. U20 Acre State. We won all 28 games, scoring 119 goals in the process and conceding just 8. We are ENORMOUSLY dominant in this competition. U20 Brazil Cup. National U20's Cup. Despite our dominance, I don't think we have entered the U20 Copa Libertadores previously for some reason. There is certainly nothing on the old schedules list to suggest that we played, despite the fact that I think we should have qualified. In any case, the reason for this post is that we will be playing in the U20 Copa Libertadores this season. Oh I see. The U20 Copa Libertadores is only played every 2 years. Jimbokav1971
Main Target. Jan 2052. (49a) Fininho (F.Pro) * obviously came through our Academy and was then "stolen" by Porto for just under £5M due a a Foreign Club Release clause. I was keen to re-sign him simply because he is a product of our Academy and because we have cash burning a hole in our pocket. I have quite a few decent young strikers and all of them can be sold to finance this deal if needed. When I first tried to to the deal I managed to get Porto to accept a deal, but I couldn't get the player to discuss terms with me. In the end I made him my Number 1 Transfer Target, mentioned it to the media a few times and then went to watch a few Porto Champions League games, (where unfortunately he was only on the bench and never got on). After that I really just forgot about it until now. My DoF has just done this. Then he did this. It seems like a poor deal to me. It's expensive and we are over-paying up-front for the quality of the player simply because they know he is our Number 1 Target. It's a good deal that we are only paying 50% of the POOR deal then isn't it.

Jimbokav1971
Jan 2052. Pre-season went as pre-season goes, and then we got off to a winning start in the State Championship, although have already conceded a goal frustratingly. Rio Branco (AC) have already lost and drawn against opposition other than us, and we have already conceded to someone other than them. Is this an indication of the State Championship improving in quality? 16 year old (51b) Emerson (Driven) * made 3 appearances last season without scoring, but he scored on his 1st game this season from the spot. He then went and grabbed an assist in his 2nd game when his free-kick struck a post and we converted the rebound. (49c) Jackson (Bal) came in for the 3rd goal, (because (51b) Emerson (Driven) * had played for the U20's already that day), and he also scored his 1st of the season from the spot. Despite my preference for HG players over those produced elsewhere, I had sort of decided that Bodão (F.Pro) * would be given a whole season as 1st choice GK this season on the basis that his performances would generate interest and I could sell him and then (51b) Emerson (Driven) * could take over next season. That plan was scuppered when he was called into the (BRA) U23 squad for Olympic qualification and missed the whole of January and will also miss the start of February. He isn't even playing for them. He's sitting on the bench. (51b) Emerson (Driven) * sits top of the pile when sorted by PA and he's HG, so he's the long-term GK, and (49c) Jackson (Bal) missed a load of penalties last season, (was it 7?), but he is HG and Bodão (F.Pro) * isn't. I was decided and now I'm undecided again.
Jimbokav1971
Astonishing New Record. Feb 2052. We score 17 goals in 1 game and 0 of them come from our GK. He actually had 3 shots, 1 on target, all from free-kicks.

Nobby_McDonald
17-0 is very impressive, but it's not quite Arbroath 36 Bon Accord 0 which was on the same day as Dundee Harp 35 Aberdeen Rovers 0. The_Gato_In_Goal
Is it a mistake that Fininho has a domestic release clause of nothing? Surprised you still have him if that's the case.

Surprised you still have him if that's the case. I assumed that this meant that the clause didn't exist, but I have just checked and it does exist. What a bloomin nightmare! (My DoF did the deal and I just chose to accept). On the plus side, he's getting paid a decent/good wage for a teenager and is playing very regularly. He's scored 13 goals in 8 appearances already this season so he's doing something right, and nobody is currently interested. I am going to have to try and renegotiate the deal though because that's a ridiculous clause. Great spot by the way @The_Gato_In_GoalThank you.
