Gretna in decline

Rookie mistakes, Amatuer defending and clamity Goalkeeping all lead to Gretna' sudden decline in the league, still we are still in 2nd positon and despite the bad patch we should still make promotion....

Good wins over Peterhead, Elgin and Alloa were overshadowed by the mauling at the hands of Berwick. Not to mention the defeats at the hands of Cowdenbeath and Queens Park.

As for the rumours i am about to jump ship we'll nothing is sure in football and at the moment i am only dedicated to Gretna and not looking for a move i was merely misqouted in the press when asked about the Raith Rovers job icon_wink.gif

Montrose -> Stirling -> Montrose -> Clyde

Alex Holligan over the piece deserves his loyalty rating of 3. But the results speak for themselves, every club under the guiding hand of the dogmeister have been pointed in the right direction and the results show this. So the dogmeister can't help if he is seen as the hottest boss in the bells scottish leagues atm.

Present club Clyde are in dire straights, a pish poor squad and absolutely no money to spend. With the majority of good free's already hoovered up at this stage in the season, could this be a club too far... Dogs has spent no time at all attempting to find every player available and although the board have given the maanger no money to spend they have at least shown some foresight and wisdom to give a generous wage budget which in its self is realistic for the division. So has doggy found his resting space at last, well i like the challenge of the Clyde job. I had said to myself at the beginning of the game that i would always fancy either the clyde or jags job as they were the poor "old firm" based in Glasgow. So i think i will have a bash. Unless of course the Falkirk job comes up, no wait Hearts, or maybe Celtic............icon_wink.gif

arbroath.jpg

The season trundled on, and we had a few crunch games coming up. In fact the Division Two title race is so tight, that every game is a crunch one, and any slip ups could cost us that moment of glory. Away to fellow chasers Dumbarton, and a draw here would be more than acceptable. A strike just on half time from Parker though gave us all three points in a very tight game, and a win worth all the gold in China.

Another tough away game at Stirling, and again only one goal in this match, as Thompson struck 19 minutes from time to keep us right in contention, and keep the pressure on league leaders Montrose. The Cup provided a bit of relief from the pressure pot of the league, but it was to end once more in misery. Two first half goals from Parker saw us lead Hamilton 2-1 at half time, but a disgraceful second half collapse saw us go down 4-2, and it seems we have a bit of a cup jinx.

But with the Cup out of the way, we could concentrate on the league, and a vital home derby match with leaders Montrose. Two first half penalties from Benny Hill, and a great goal from Ryan Thompson saw us go in 3-0 ahead at the break, and although Montrose got a late consolation, we held on for a great win, and close the gap to 1 point.

Another derby as we visited relegation threatened Brechin, now managed by the very same manager who had labelled me a boring manager with a boring team. Whilst its true that Brechin seem to have a very poor team, nevertheless a sublime performance from us again, Greg Denham heading home twice from corners, and youngsters Griffiths also getting in on the act as we ran out easy 3-1 winners. Boring? I don't think so icon_razz.gif

It was jinx team Hamilton again in the League, this time at home. We have a very poor record against them, but it was important that we made improvements to that record if we wanted to stay on track for the First Division. Fortunately, we did just that, first half goals from Thompson and Mark Angel giving us a nice 2-0 win, and with Montrose losing, we moved to sit proudly on top of the league.

But all good things must come to and end, and away top Morton, although we peppered the Morton goal from start to finish, their keeper seemed enhanced by a magic spell (named 'bug') and we went down by 2-1 in a game we should have won 7-2. Despite that loss though, we still sit on top of the table with 12 matches to play. There are still a lot of points to be won and lost, but we have done very well this season, a lot better than anyone could have dared expect. I just hope we can do ourselves justice and gain the promotion I feel we so richly deserve.

GOALS GOALS GOALS

The problem is they are going in at both ends...

Although this was a resonable session for the 'Shire'...

Cowdenbeath Home 3-2 LGE win

Raith Rovers Away 3-1 SCcup loss

Gretna Away 3-2 Lge loss

ELGIN Home 5-4 Lge win

Albion Rovers Away 4-3 Lge loss

Berwick Rangers Home 1-0 Lge win

15 goals scored 16 lost it sounds bad, it reads really bad, it appears the bubble has finally burst for the side that has compounded the pundits, and mesmerized football world, even the greatest minds in Scottish football (cough!cough!splutter!)refused to believe it could happen, terrific odds on the 'Shire' lifting the 3rd Div title and not one bet.

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery and from the start of the season East Stirilingshire were the only club in the Scottish League to employ a fulltime diamondformation, and to great success, and we are so proud and pleased to note that Partic Thistle have been using a variation of this tactic and it has really boosted their push for the title.

Its really amazing that East Stirlingshirewould be the template from which other clubs would achieve success. utterly amazing

Four in the bed and the little one said rollover rollover

Ghod was the latest one to rollover and bail out of the Scottish Third Div, perhaps Turps should have taken odds NOT on who would win the titles but on those who dont have the knowledge or baws to make a fight of it, and be the first to jump, although with so many front runners he would be hard pressed to select a favourite.

After Ghod jumped I took a peek at the Peterhead squad, with the forethought there might be someone useful there to further the 'Shire' cause but it only goes to show how useful the "diablo" tactic is...the playing staff are dire.

The downloaded tactic is becoming more wide spread in the clan and its subtle variations are helping advance teams (especially in the 2nd Div) to great success. The Falkirk variation is the cause of great amusement to this author.

Im with Dogs on this subject and no respect is deserved nor will be given no matter what the achievement.

When the SCOTTISHclan kicked off on 03/04 the entire 3rd Div was populated with human "managers" 10 in total... now there is me.. a relegated guy.. a sacked guy and one who must be here on some sort of minority representaton scheme and its only the second season, and correct me if Im wrong but only two were promoted on merit.

Infact throughout theentire clan there are perhaps 3/4 bodies who had the Guts and pride to stick it out...Tracy has bigger baws than these guy's (and more knowledge into the bargain).

When the clan kicked off 03/04 I was under the firm belief that the aim was to lead your club to success thus achieving glory, and legendary status, such as Bill Shankely did with Liverpool,

but I was wrong,

its all about leapfroging your way up the division's achieving nothing along the way, and for what? someone to say "well done"! perhaps it should have been better to start everyone in the SPL, including the old firm, 'cos sure as hell the boss's there would only have fuked up.

I come from a proud background I am Scottish, and I will stand there and say "this is my ground! if you want it come and take it! but be prepared to bleed" and as a Scotsman I know "There is no battlefield I fear" but there are few in this clan who can stand proud and defiant and shout from the mountains...

SY your team are bouncing, your third in Div3 and close to Gaz in second if I’m not mistaken. I had a wee look last night at div-3 at the end.

I think Bod has won Div-1, I can’t remember but he has a few points over Forfar.

The second is very close and could be anyone from a close group of four. I got through to the cup final with Celtic at Hampden icon14.gif after Turps got dumped 1-2 by the tic.

Ally is the comeback kid after being close to the sack and then having a good we run and someone in the third got the sack last night.

Take care and enjoy that packing!

Only people I've seen using this, (well against me amyway) were Dumbarton and Brechin and they both lost. Oh hang on thats 50%. I dont think Airdrie use it, but tbh I dont really look at what other teams play, means nothing to me icon_wink.gif

Besides, the diablo is the most overrated piece of crap tactic I've ever seen. Tracy plays a basic 4-4-2 attacking tactic, and I've found that much harder to beat then anyone playing the diablo. I think someone was having a laugh when they made it.

Hillarious events in last nights session. What a hoot.

The crashing of Turps bottle, "passionate" Forfar fans, my constant on/off sacking and the fact that Dogs declared an interest in the Falkirk job nearly costing his own. Bod's continual moaning about "other" costs, oh and lets not forget the sacking of Coisty! He joins an elite group...save me a seat round that table.

What a rollercoaster.

Dumbarton H 3-1

This match started with Dumbarton scoring against the run of play out of there only two shots on goal. Manager Robertson could not believe his eyes as Airdrie ripped open and danced through Dumbarton at will, we are talking total domination but failed time and time again to hit the back of the net. Thankfully Barry Elliot (M.O.M) led the way with his first of two goals and Logan made the points safe with the third. With 25 shots on goal and 16 on target the fans were surprised that more goals were not scored but Dumbarton had the rub of the green. In all the team played fantastic attractive football but will have to make this count in future games.

Morton H 4-0

Barry Elliot (M.O.M) possibly the team’s best player since joining was awesome with his individual play and great goal. The whole team played well with the other goals from Dunn, Gow and Sub Jaconnelli. The Diamonds Boss looked pleased as he disappeared up the tunnel.

Alloa A 2-2

A disappointing result with (M.O.M)Gow scoring twice to land the point. The problem seems to stem from the No.1 jersey and the manager will have to have a quick word with his goalie.

Stirling H 1-1

The diamonds thought they have got the points till a keeper error right at the death to canceled out (M.O.M) Alan Gow’s goal. A share of the points with the division the way it is, is simply not good enough if we want promotion.

Montrose A 0-1

With Gow scoring the only goal the credit really has to go to Docherty (M.O.M) and our goalie Mathieson who held our deffence in place to earn the three points. Manager Robertson was well pleased to come away from a strong Montrose with all three points.

Ayr (Cup Semi-Final) Hampden 4-0

Airdrie took this game by the neck and played exceptional considering the opposition. Leon Bell (M.O.M) who scored was simply fantastic down the wing and just shaded two goal Elliot and other goal scorer Dunn for the plaudits. Manager Robertson commented “ I just could not ask for any more from my team, they deserve to go to the final and who knows, who knows on our day we could pull it off. The fans have a great day out to look forward and the players a chance to go head to head with the second best team in the Scotland, win or lose we have to be credited for getting there.â€

Cup Specialists Airdrie do it again, 2 finals in 2 seasons against the old firm. They beat Rangers on Penalties, can they now do the old firm double? Either way, theyll be putting more cash into the Sav piggybank for transfers next year. Lets hope he doesnt waste it all this time buying "Roscos Rejects"

icon_biggrin.gif

Full Thistle Update to come later in the week, including a 5 goal thriller at the top of the table, another humping of an unbelievably poor Mercenary Army, an Old Firm cup draw, and the opening of a 9 point gap at the top as the leagues "Biggest Small Club" suddenly lose their bottle and go into freefall.

The league is far from over, but the fans are now asking not whether Forfar can catch Thistle, but whether Falkirk can catch Forfar, and will it be with their current manager, or one of the host who have declared their interest in the Bairns job, the current incumbent of which seems prepared to jump ship yet again to a higher level ......

Edit : Thistles Wage Bill per month : £63,831 p/m

Thistles "Other" Bill per month : £178,643 p/m

God alone knows where that came from! I didnt think my Pie Bonus was that much, nor did i feel that Tom Hughes corporate American Express card could land us with such a huge bill.

Has he been seen out with Joe Beltrammi again, trying to resolve the case for sueing the SPL?

Well you see my one purchase from Falkirk went something like this

Sav: “I need a quality CD will you consider selling Horn?â€

Turps “Aye he is a good player and I might not need him in the SPLâ€

Sav: “sends a 20K Bid given the player is worth 16Kâ€

Turps “ flock off and stop wasting my time†icon_eek.gif

I move to Airdrie, loads of money and get a bit carried away buy buying Elliot for 65K. icon14.gif Everyone laughs and I get notice that Turps would have sold me Horn for 50K.

Sav: “ok I still would like Horn is he for sale 50Kâ€

Turps “ Aye 50K should do itâ€

So I slap in the 50K Bid and go in spending hovering up three Stirling players for a total of around 45K. Everything is cool till I make some money in UEFA cup run and just before the deals take place the board decrease my budget to 65% from 100%.

So the three players go through from Stirling and Horn deal folds

Turps: “You Ball Bag Yada Yada Yada you let the deal foldâ€

Obviously Forfar need some money for planed spending spree and are now 50K lighter.

Sav: “I only have 20K to spendâ€

Turps “Aye ok 20Kâ€

Sav: Result! icon_biggrin.gif

It’s just like life after all that * about you end up back were you started.

Getting bargain basement is great if you go down that road. The trouble is I do most of my scouting during the game, keeping an eye on teams and performances, I have the usual short list with recommendations from the forum. To tell the truth there are a few players I’m interested in the clubs above me and as usual as teams go up there will be players unable to follow but can do a great job for the teams below for a realistic price.

Everyone has there way and mine at this moment is looking for titbit’s that have proved themselves in our game and usually played under a human manager, costly I know, but then again I think I’ve signed like 13 players since we started. icon_rolleyes.gif

Don’t get me wrong I’ll no shell out on some of the dross offered like some 34 year old that has only played 1 match and is worth 4k but who ever is asking for 30K!!!! It’s the monopoly side of the game everyone likes to make a bit of money and screw over everyone else. It's actually embarrassing at the number of times this happens, I would only ask silly demands if someone came in for one of my first team and he was an integral part of my playing machine and really silly if it’s was the Ai offering. icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway for this cup final I’m in with the Tic what kind of wonga will I get? Are we just talking the usual $450K. icon14.gif

Gate Receipts from a Hampden final with the OF alone are worth £400k for a 40,000 crowd. If Sav collects less than £500k total ill be very surprised.

BTW Iain , some of us recognise that in the lower division theres nae cash and quality players are hard to come by, which is why if were selling a player to a clan member, odds are we will offer them for next to nothing just to reduce the wage bill, not act like some big time charlie by asking £50k for a reserve (Tracy's Hamilton Accies side will verify the generosity of Honest Bod icon_biggrin.gif)

As a hoop supporter....one who watched them through Late eighties, early eighties and also during late 70's. I can appreciate good flowing football. Villareal were a joy to watch...As were the Hoops in the 2nd half.

As for the ref he wasn't helped by 2 linesmen who were worse than a man short. He did get some decisions wrong but on the disallowed goal went with his linesman who flagged against Larsson. All in all im happy with 1-1 and look forward to watching the return whilst sitting in the hoose cacking my pants every time Villaral get the ball near celtics box!

So with a scottish cup 4th round tie against Ross County on the go lots to play for at Berwick. Alasdair Shaw's Programme Notes Monday 05/04/04

PRESSURE MOUNTS BUT YOUR GAFFER IS CLIMBING THE TABLE

Dear Supporters,

It has not escaped my notice that certain rumour starters have been questioning my management future at Falkirk FC. Let me first say that I am as determined as ever to bring glory to our club and will continue to try and push the side further up the table. Recent weeks have seen a marked improvement in our results and I’m confident that we have turned the corner. I am however, very disappointed and saddened by the continued interference from rival managers. I can only hope for the sake of their own fans that they take as much interests in their own clubs fortune as they do in mine.

BELLS FIRST DIVISION – ST. MIRREN – LOVE STREET – SAT 08/01/05 – DRAW 2-2

This was another frustrating game for us, as we again threw away three points against St. Mirren. Nil Lamptey punished their defence for a mistake to put us ahead and Lawrie’s determined ball winning was rewarded with a second goal. However a true poacher’s goal from Eddie Annand after half time brought St. Mirren back into it and when Barry Laverty levelled the scoring it completed out self destruction and left us without the three points that our efforts deserved.

TENNENTS SCOTTISH CUP 3RD ROUND – CLYDE – BROADWOOD STADIUM – SAT 15/01/05 – WIN 3-0

Despite the final score somewhat flattering us, this was a good solid performance in the cup. Caldwell headed in at the back post from a corner kick to give us a lead and a superb 30 yard free kick strike from Lamptey doubled our advantage. The bitter conditions and hard pitch were never going to make football easy, but we wrapped up the victory in style with Ackon racing out of our half and blasting home on a counter attack. Our reward for progressing is a visit from SPL side Kilmarnock.

BELLS FIRST DIVISION – ROSS COUNTY – THE FALKIRK STADIUM – WED 19/01/05 – WIN 2-0

A dominating win that propelled us into fourth spot in the league table, Weatherson got the opener after some determined play from Cowan to win the ball. We found ourselves two up when Lamptey headed the ball into the path of Ackon, who drilled the ball into the net to complete a comfortable performance.

BELLS FIRST DIVISION – FORFAR – STATION PARK – SAT 22/01/05 – DRAW 0-0

A game that won’t be remembered as Forfar dominated but were unable to make a breakthrough. A point at Forfar can’t be scoffed at and I must praise our goalkeeper who made a number of top class saves to keep the Ikea builders at bay.

BELLS FIRST DIVISION – RAITH ROVERS – THE FALKIRK STADIUM – SAT 29/01/05 – DRAW 2-0

This turned out to be another comfortable win for us, with Paulinho scoring a wonder goal by dribbling through the midfield before hammering home with a long range strike. Weatherson made the win safe with a second goal, turning a loose ball into the net after it had pinged around the box.

BELLS FIRST DIVISION – PARTICK THISTLE – FIRHILL STADIUM – SAT 05/02/05 – DEFEAT 2-0

Our recent run of good form had to come to an end and it was no surprise that it did so on a visit to the league leaders. However I felt that we were unlucky not to take a point from this game and genuinely feel that our miserable performances of the early season are behind us. Panther put the Jags ahead early on and they scored from a corner to make it two, but we created a few chances of our own and were disappointed to leave without anything.

Thank you for your support and enjoy the game.

Gretna contine to plough on in the league in hope of atleast clinching a promotion place as the league title itself seems to be getting out of our reach but fear not young Raydale warriors we shall not give up.

The league campaign got off to a good start when we put 4 past East Fife and then went on to beat league leaders East Stirling by the odd goal. Good wins were also credited against Albion Rovers who immediatley sacked Gaffer Abraham after the match and Peterhead however the work was overshadowed slighty by the goaless draw against managerless Stranraer.

The cup well that has came and gone after being soundly beating by a much better Motherwell side at Fir park.!

I have to say i have been really impressed with the contribution of winger Ryan Baldacchino so far this season in his scoring and his assisting however they are parts of his game that can continue to improve, the defence has been much tighter over the last few sessions and we are know starting to be alert and not conceding stupid reckless goals.

“Do you know what you are doing ?â€

After the promotion party of last season, Stenny were expected to consolidate in Division 1 and achieve mid-table mediocrity, which we will achieve …. probably.

Basically, Stenny have not advanced in the slightest during pre-season and are way behind the big boys in this division. If you have no money to invest in players, then you either have to scout hard to unearth some gems or generate interest in one or two of your stars but I didn’t bother to do any of this icon_smile.gif . In hindsight this was a mistake icon_razz.gif , because we haven’t been able to compete all season. So far this season we have failed to beat any of the top sides, in fact we have been comprehensively drubbed on more than one occasion, special mentions go to the 3-0 beating we took at the hands of Turps’ Forfar and the terrible performance offered at St Johnstone were we went down 5-1. We have also done nothing of note in the potentially money spinning cups either.

So after the disappointment of this season so far, I have decided to turn over a new leaf and will now try icon_smile.gif

Transfers In

Not a lot to say about this sorry lot, by 2010 I might have figured this LLM malarkey out and buy someone decent. Actually, that’s unfair on Saunders who has been a stalwart in midfield this season and looks like a goodun for the future. The same goes for West at centre back and Harrison at full back who have both been pretty good. The rest well take your pick from average, below average, cr*p and why are you playing football at all.

Time to get rid of the high earning, old and rubbish people (actually cant do this otherwise everyone would be gone and the tea lady would be playing, perhaps that could be an improvement)

Its Firhill for Thrills , Station Park for Standing Stills

St Mirren 1 - 1 Partick Thistle

For a long period of this match, it was felt that Saints were finally going to break the much vaunted 12 game unbeaten run from Thistle, after a 34th minute goal from a corner. However the Saints Defence looked vulnerable to the ball over the top, so it was no surprise when Miller skipped through with 68 minutes on the clock to smash the ball past Ludovic Roy.

Partick Thistle 2 - 0 St Johnstone

From the sublime to the ridiculous. The sublime being Ricky Waddells beautifully flighted 31st minute free kick to open the scoring , his 4th dead ball goal of the season. The ridiculous being the Jim Weir own goal in 57, when with nobody around him, and not a Thistle player in the same half as him, he calmly passed back to his keeper from 6 yards, only to realise his keeper wasnt there, and the ball rolled agonisingly into an empty net. The Thistle fans didnt know whether to laugh or cheer. The replays of that one will be on a Rory McGrath football bloopers DVD for some time to come.

Partick Thistle 2 - 0 Inverness Caley Thistle

The Firhill crowds have become used to seeing the Ricky Waddell show, and again the youngster didnt disappoint. 40 minutes on the clock , and the youngster robbed the left back , cut in and drilled one past the helpless keeper. Then he floated in a corner on 44 minutes for David Lilley to smash one past a helpless Mark Brown . Second half was more of the same , Waddell latching onto a Juan Sara cross to score his second , and then repaying the favour right at the final whistle, laying it on a plate for Sara to curl home from 12 yards.

Forfarce 1 - 2 Partick Thistle

Some real blood and thunder stuff here. From the off it was vicious stuff, over the top tackling and scrappy midfield play. Eventually, on the stroke of half time, Ricky Waddell collected the ball after a brilliant Thistle move, with 8 passes in a row before a low ball to Waddell was smashed home. With a lot of the ball but no real killer touch, Forfarce became steadily more and more desperate, throwing players forward, and eventually in 75 minutes, Robertson eluded Lilley at the back post and curled the ball past a helpless Postma.

The drama was not over though, as with 91 minutes on the clock, a long ball out of defence found Colin Miller. He took 3 steps , beat his man, and curled across an inviting ball for Juan Sara to stab it low under the keeper, and extend the Jags lead at the top of Division 1 to 10 points. Manager Turpie conceded the title shortly afterwards, and McGuinness wasnt denying this in post-match interviews.

Partick Thistle 1 - 0 Stenhousemuir

Blink and you miss it. Straight from kick off, the ball went down the wing to Kosovskyi , who skinned the right back like he wasnt there, and delivered a thunderbolt into the top corner. Time of Goal : 14 seconds!.

Stenny never really recovered from that. A few long range shots were all that they could muster, whilst Thistle looked like scoring every time they got the ball. Only a brilliant performance from McCulloch, rightly voted Sponsors Man of the Match, kept the scoreline tight, right to the end. The streak continues, as Thistle march towards the SPL.

Elsewhere, nearest rivals Forfarce drop further points, and the lead extends to 12.

Raith Rovers 0 - 1 Partick Thistle

When Thistle break, its with frightening speed and accuracy. And when Manny Panther gets the ball one on one with the keeper, you know who you should be betting the house on. And after 61 minutes of a dull , scrappy encounter, Thistle launched the long ball, Waddell was onto it in a flash, and his cross found Panther 20 yards out. He walked forward , rounded the keeper and slotted home.

Elsewhere , Falkirk , under new boss Roy Aitken , take 2 more points from Forfarce and the lead was 14 points with 5 games to go. With vastly superior goal difference, Thistle were up barring a miracle.

COISTY HAS BEEN SACKED AND HAS NO CLUB!

Tracy aka TaloolaUK the Hamilton gaffer has retired unfortunatley to work commitments. Everyone involved is sad she has left our game as she was one of the better players in the Clan. On behalf of all the lads we wish Tracy well and your welcome back anytime!

Since my last update there have been a few major changes in my managerial career.

The last update I made detailed how Straraer FC had suffered from a dissapointing first half to the season. Then with a couple of sound signings and the promotion of a couple of kids and the place was bouncing with the hope of promotion still alive. A couple of heavy defeats later and exit in all cup competitions and I'd had enough, cue total huff and there I am in the chair of Dumbarton FC.

Dumbarton are a side I have never really cared for. They do have pretty colours which is usually enough to merit appeal but for some reason Dumbarton always have bored me. Perhaps it was due to their old ground that was the legendary Boghead. Boghead is without doubt the poorest ground i've ever been to and i've been to the odd non league ground. The fact that I have been there twice and still never witnessed my beloved Hibs win a game against a team that are now extinct in Clydebank perhaps adds to my attitude towards the club.

Anyway this was the club I was now managing so I tried to look at the positives.

1. A very sound defence.

2. Club in a great position for promotion.

3. Ex gaffer Jeff said they were a good team.

4. The ground was new and had the cool name of " The Rock ".

5. My first session in charge had the rest of the division quaking in their boots as I didn't concede a single goal.

Now I was fair looking forward to my next session in charge of the allmighty conquring Sons but thats when it turned sour. The team could not play at all. In the next 3 games I had no more than 5 attacks. The strikers were woeful, the midfield was non existent and the solid defence was crumbling. After a miserable session ,that made me wish I was in my comfortable chair at Stair Park, Dumbarton were midtable and well off the pace in the promotion chase. The teams morale was very poor and The Rock didn't seem like such a cool place anymore.

A couple more defeats and some terrible play all over and I got the impression that the longer I stayed at this club the further away I was getting from ever landing the job as manager of my beloved Hibernian FC. So I applied for a couple of jobs in the higher leagues where I believed I could really show what I can acheive.

I left Dumbarton without really saying goodbye as they probably wouldn't have been to pleased. The simple note on the chairmans desk reading "i've ****ed off because your teams a bit ****ty". I did have to play one last game as manager of the sons that had us go 1 up on Arbroath before the inevitable humping came and then I headed straight to Lanarkshire to sign for SPL side Motherwell.

Yes thats right SPL side, no other gaffer in the clan is in the SPL are they.....(does a Hulk Hogan style hand to ear........ignores bods I was and i'm about to be ramblings...NO).

So after a little jig round my pc and a bit of boosting to the less than impressed Div 1 gaffers who didn't give a crap and I have a look at the team. Bottom, rock bottom and 10 points adrift. Teams no happy and a few million in debt. Fans are ****ed off as they don't even know who I am, i'm just hoping they don't ask Dave the Dumbarton fan. Check out the team and they still have some quality players. Fans are chuffed that i've tied Stephen Pearson to a long term Wee Jum McLean style deal and we head into the last 13 or so games of the season as we attempt to catch Dundee Utd.

2 games in and a couple of 1-0 defeats where the strikers look almost as bad as Dumbartons and i'm starting to worry. Change in tactics is required and we receive a few humpings where I actually think Motherwell V Dumbarton would be a cure for Insomnia. Back to 4-4-2 as couldn't even put together an attack against Turps' Forfar. When I celebrated scoring our first goal in a 4-1 defeat I started to think perhaps I should build for Div 1. Dundee Utd appointed George Graham and I was now 13 points behind.

Now you can look at my performance so far in this champing escapade of our in a number of ways the most popular i'm sure would be

1. You're the best man there just now as you are the highest club, in fact since you started in Division 3 the other lads should have presented you with some sort of award. (which I agree with of course and half expect to receive the award at the next meet.)

2. You are pure pish, a disgrace to the Clan. Couldn't get Stranraer promoted, Ruined Dumbarton and will probably get sacked before the end of the season with Motherwell. ( I'll never get sacked as i'll jump ship before that could happen *Take note Ally, Gaz, Coisty.)

Motherwell 2 Kilmarnock 1

Yes we won a game, yes we are just 10 points of Dundee Utd now and yes I know I do kick ass.

Celtic 1 Motherwell 3

If you can stop sucking my big long knob for one minute i'll go and brag some more about how Celtic actually injured 5 of my players during the game and played Larsson, Sutton and Hartson up front where as I had to give a debut to some 17 year old ponce in centre back before he got carted off injured and replaced with some bloke I called off the street. This was also Well's first away win of the season. You may carry on now.

Yes it looks like I will still be relegated, 7 points off with I think 7 games to go. But then 7 is a magic number for us Hibs fans. With Hibs in a great position to win the league as well would you back against me to not only stay up but to win manager of the year?

Oh and congrats to Tom and Sav on their acheivments, i'm sure they will fill us in shortly.

I thank you once more, mmhmm thanks.

***********NEWS******************

Manager Robertson made a short statement to apologise for talking to one of Stuart Redmond’s first team youth stars.

“Obviously a mistake was made by firstly asking one of my scouts to keep an eye on this first team regular that is only 16. When my scout reported that the player was available from his short list he neglected to point out he was a youth. All contact was dropped and respect given to the manager for unearthing such a diamond. I hope Mr Redmond understands that I do not wish to disturb such a talented player and also his youth policy and understands his concerns with Airdrie’s and its financial clout talking to one of his future stars.†icon_redface.gif

Brechin H 1-1

Barry Elliot Showed his class again (M.O.M) to earn the diamonds a share of the points with his single goal. Manager Robertson who was annoyed at the sending off of his winger Bell conceded that his team will have to do a lot better if any chance of promotion is to be achieved.

Hamilton A 4-2

A disappointing match that left the diamonds loosing all three points even though Allan Gow scored two great goals to manager less Hamilton. With some big games coming up fast and a final against the Tic things will have to improve and quick.

Arbroath H 0-0

Table toping Arbroath came calling and left with a point. Mark McGeown our goalie was (M.O.M) and it has to said kept Airdrie in this match. Unfortunately we picked up a few injuries to Bell and Okikiolu.

Queen of Sth. H 1-0

Our first three points in weeks and very welcome as we try in vain to push for second slot. Dunn (M.O.M) was out standing and deserved his goal. The whole team looked better focused than they have been for a while.

Dumbarton A 1-1

With Dumbarton 4th behind us it was imperative that we did not let them walk with all the points. O’Brian (M.O.M) back in the team after a lay of was excellent down the left wing and scored a good goal to earn us a share of the points. Alan Gow is our only injury worry as we leave the Rock.

Celtic V Airdrie League Cup Final (Hampden) Att 52470

This was the game of the season, and Airdrie could only hope that they could put on a good show. The Diamonds lead with the first chance of the match that should have been a goal but for poor finishing and after that the game evened out with both teams haveing good chances and the Airdrie Defence holding it’s nerve right to the end. Into extra time and the stale mate was still in place with some very tired legs. Subs were made on both sides but still no goals.

With the fans getting there moneys worth it came down to penalties and both fans were in good voice with Hamden Rocking. A small child cried out Come on the Diamonds right over Chick Young’s live commentary as the players decided on the line up.

Crainey- Scored Dunn -Scored

Hartson- Scored O’Brian- Missed

Thompson- Missed Gow-Scored

Sang-Chui- Missed Watson- Scored

Sutton-Missed

Airdrie Manager Runs onto pitch jumping for joy and the fans go wild.

Chick “ So Stewart that was the fairy tale ending you wantedâ€

Stewart†I’m over the moon chick, honestly to come to the cup final was fantastic for the fans and players but to win over an old firm team was exceptionalâ€

Chick†Your goalie made the crucial save after O’Brian missed for youâ€

Stewart†McGeown was fantastic and after his save I felt we could win it and it lifted the lads after the miss we hadâ€

Chick†how proud do you feel with the team walking round the park with the cupâ€

Stewart†Chick this is what football is all about, the excitement of a team that you have shaped playing in front of 52000 supporters in a final means a lot to me and the fans. The fans can be proud of there team and what we have achieved this year with also playing in Europe.â€

Chick†Enjoy your dayâ€

Stewart “Thanks Chickâ€

Chick†The atmosphere is tremendous here with both sets of fans giving Airdrie the congratulations they deserve, back to you in the studio.â€

Morton A 1-3

With cup exploits past it was back to league matter and Airdrie were up to the task with Bell scoring two and Gow getting on the score sheet. Andrews was (M.O.M) in our defence. A good three points.

Alloa H 1-1

Alloa have been our bogie team this season and it was no surprise when they took the lead and looked set to take full points. It took to the lest few minutes for Bell to earn us the point and brings us within touching distance of promotion.

PS: Stevethedog, good luck with the Well and the next two teams you'll manage by the end of this year. icon_biggrin.gif

And so it came to pass

In the land of the Scottish Clan Ghod walked amongst the rest of the clan and he was happy! Vanquished to the small seaside town of Peterhead he tried to work many miracles. However the miracles he performed for the Blue Toon were not enough for the scribes and Farry(sees) in Peterhead for he was asked often "if you are so great why are you 3rd Division?" and he answered "is a flower without a stem any less of a flower?" or "is a virgin any less like Bod?". However Ghods ambition was to walk amongst the Bodites, The Turpites, The Dogites, the Savites, The Shawites and the boring one!

So when the season started although Ghod had tried and failed to perform minor miracles....ie tempt a 1st division player (mercenary) with petty bribery from the Shawites at Falkirk he realised he would have to move on. At the Moor of Bal The toon smited most people regularly except the Shire of Burnettite who laughed heartily at what he had done - As the Peterite lay at their feet they smirked "you are but a schoolie with questionable tactical knowhow and we will smite you mightily if you darken our little hovel.

So despite a number of smitings against the local whipping Bhoys of Elgin Ghod saw what he had done and was less than satisfied.....With Turpites boasts ringing in his ears "come to the promised land and see what fruits await" Ghod jumped on the 1st Donkey out of town and headed south to Brechin.

When Ghod arrived he saw all was not well in the land of the Brechinites....regular humpings at the hands of many many clannites which had been witheld from him came to light and he was very very upset. The Burnettites saw Ghods weakness and attempted once more to pillage the Blue toon only to laugh at such a bunch of nonenteties assembles after the few gubbings received.

The Brechinites happy at their new leader followed him to Hamilton to face the "Harlot"(sorry Tracey artistic licence). When the Harlot saw Ghod come she laughed mightily drew her sword and smited all of the brechinites mightily by the scoreline of 6-1! Ghod was well impressed and now knew her as the "Queen of the Clannites".

Back up to Brechin to assess his new charges Ghod then had to face his nemesis The Boring One......And again Ghod bowed down as at the Park of the Glebe the Boring one mightily smited Ghod and again laughed out loud as he crushed the Brechinites under his feet!

Ghod was restless as he saw the miracles being performed by the Bodites, the Turpites and the Dogites.....The Dogites continually changed clans unite he settles in the Nauld of Cumber with the Orangutangs (Clyde geddit?)

However much unrest arose amongst the Queen of the Clannites and she was called to serve in the local boozer by the Blantyre masses and Ghod saw an opportunity to move once again to a clan who could hand out their own smitings on a regular basis.

However Ghod was turning everything he touched not to wine but to ****. With no sheckles to spend and no mercenaries on the horizon Ghod was once again smited by the Alloaites. And as he looked around he saw what he could do.

As the Montrosites ex of the Dogites were fighting the Hamiltonites..he looked and he found he could see...his hands were no longer shackled by lesser people. He then set about making a great comeback to enable the savites to have hope once more of promtion to another land with the Turpites and the Dogites.

Ghod then returned to Brechin and sought to show no mercy to his Brechinite army as armed only with goals.....won (2 in a row) which hadn't happened since methusela was a bhoy).

Ghod confident and happy at what he had done sat back and waited for the Mortonites to advance on Hamilton...and much was the wrath of Ghod he smited the Mortonites with 7 goals to have them the upper hand.

And in the land of the clannnites everything was still and Ghod rested happy at what he had done!

As it is written in the scriptures it should come to pass!!

And that’s that s the closest I’ve ever came to reading the Holy Scriptures, thank Ghod. icon_biggrin.gif

Will we see a resurrection in the 2nd or and I quote is it just a case of “False prophets shall rise, and deceive many†in our clan game. icon_razz.gif

I for one think it is the “End of Day’s†down Hamilton way!

Oh and if you have the time I could do with all the smiting of those called Montrose you and the rest can give me Ghod.

PRESSURE MOUNTS BUT YOUR GAFFER IS CLIMBING THE TABLE_

Dear Supporters,

It has not escaped my notice that certain rumour starters have been questioning my management future at Falkirk FC. Let me first say that I am as determined as ever to bring glory to our club and will continue to try and push the side further up the table. Recent weeks have seen a marked improvement in our results and I’m confident that we have turned the corner.LOL

East Stirlingshire.

Peterhead (H) 5-0 win

Stranraer (A) 0-3 win

Queen's Park (H) 2-0 win

East Fife (H) 4-0 win

Promotion

Cowdenbeath (A) 2-1 loss

Gret.... PROMOTION what! THE SHIRE have won promotion with 8 games still to play!

yes...we have also scored in excess of 100 lge goals...

what!...its not possible, you must be completly over the moon.

Eh...not really, I said before the season started EAST STIRLING would win...its no surprise.

So what now?

Well thats mission accomplised, THE SHIRE have been promoted and will go up as LEAGUE CHAMPIONS. Next season we have to establish ourselves as a force in the 2nd Div, we wont win it but we sure as hell can stop others winning it, the following season we will make a push for the title.

Your going to stay with the SHIRE?

I have already turned down 3 very interesting positions, why would I want to move? I have built a championship winning side from nothing, from less than nothing, but you never say never and a position may be offered that was simply too interesting to turn down. I have also toyed with the idea of returning to a club in the 3rd and doing it all again...now that really would be something...but you never know.
