East Stirling League cup H 2-1

A well fought encounter that seen O’Brian (M.O.M) and Elliot shine with there goals. The only disappointment was again at the back with the poor performance of our goalie McGeown. It was a double header of sorts and two out of two for the diamonds. icon_wink.gif

Stenhousemuir H 0-0

At this level we should be thankful of every point but our form of late has been poor as the schedule begins to bite. David Lowing was (M.O.M) but Airdrie lacked that cutting edge just needed to edge the match. Jose Carlos again used as a sub has shown that he might be ready for a starting place.

Cup Queens Park A 1-1 ET 3-1

Our goalie again proved to cost us possible progression with his very poor performance and although the diamonds fought back to 1-1 at full time the team looked tired. Manager Robertson was annoyed at his keeper and his self for not having a sub keeper on the bench as McGeown was injured in the first ten minutes and had to play on. Alan Gow did show some class with his goal.

Inverness C Thistle A 2-3

The diamonds decided to freshen things up with Jose Carlos on from the start and he made a great impact in this game. Barry Elliot (M.O.M) who scored two was back to his best and sub Jaconelli scored as well to get full points. Manager Robertson how ever was not so keen on his keeps contribution and rumours are that he will bring in a better class of keeper in the next window.

Dundee Utd H Cup 0-1

A disappointing game in which Airdrie outplayed Dundee. The visitors had tow attempts on goal and scored with one, while Airdrie had twelve shots on target with no one hitting the back of the net. Ben Andrews was (M.O.M) although the whole team played well. Manager Robertson commented “Well that’s us lost our hold on the cup, with us out of both cups we are left only to consolidate our position in the first division and hopefully this season will be a useful learning curve for us.

St. Mirren H 2-0

Although Barry Elliot was (M.O.M) it was or defence that scored the goals with both Andrews and Docherty on the score sheet to earn us the points. A good all round result keeping the diamonds up the league and nearer safety.

Forfar H 0-2

With the visit of one of the form teams in the league we should have really looked about being more defensive but we kept with our attacking style of play. The team put in a decent enough shift and Logan was unlucky not to score the first goal. Forfar scored a good goal to take the lead and got a break in the 90th to score a second. Manager Robertson later let slip on a Radio interview that Mark McGeown has lost his number one shirt after a very week performances not only in this match which he was dire but the previous few.

Falkirk A 2-2

It was not surprising to see Goalie Mark McGeown on the subs bench and Manager Robertson was rewarded with New first choice keeper Mathieson showing that he is worthy of his new place with a good effort in goal. (M.O.M) Elliot with his two goals earned the diamonds a share of the points. With McGeown being relegated to the bench it gives a very clear statement the Robertson will not tolerate any player not showing the same desire and work rate as his fellow team mates.

We didn't exactly get off to the best start when we crashed out the League cup in the 1st round to Deano's Stenny but not to be too dis-heartend we mayeb up for it against Ross County who travelled down to Raydale and were soundly beating.

Overall it wasn't too bad a session we managed to take 10 points out a possible 15, however what happened against East Stirling is yet unknown, The players for what ever reason decided they weren't going to try however that is not to take anything away from East Stirling as they showed a real ruthless streak infront of goal and deserved all 3 points. We on the other hand are lucky to have escaped with only a 5-2 defeat.

arbroath.jpg

The season continued with the return matches, and so of course first up we were off to Airdrie. Ebanks-Blake and Ryan Green sent us into the half time interval 2-0 up, and looking good forl three points. In the second half though, the home side fought their way back into the game, and at the end of the day, although it was dissapointing to lose a two goal lead, the result was fair, and an away point is always welcome.

The next three games would be the key to the season I felt. Against three side who were battling at the bottom, if we could come away with nine points, we would be looking good to achieve our target of staying up. The plan didn't look so hot after 24 minutes of the home match with Inverness, as we fell behind. Two goals early in the second half from Ryan Green though saw us take the lead, only to throw it away again. In injury time the impressive Oliver Parker tied up the points, and a vital win was gained.

Away next to bottom side St Mirren, who were pointless. There was a fear here that the Paisley side had to win sometime, but thankfuly it wasn't to be today. Griffiths and Ebanks-Blake got the goals that matter, as the Saints ended with only 9 men on the park, after seeing 4 players limp of injured. Their wimpishness probably shows why they are rooted to the bottom and on their way to Division Two.

Home to Falkirk, and the third of our trio of must win games. Griffith, Ryan Green and Peter Edwards sent us three ahead, and although the visitors did get a goal back, this was an easy win, as we moved into the giddy heights of 2nd in the table, and we could pretend for a few days that we were actually promotion contenders.

That myth was soon dispelled though as we travelled to Station Park, and were ripped apart by a quite brilliant Forfar side. It didnt help that Forfar were awarded a soft penalty, and then the ref decided to send our right back off, but the truth is, Forfar are are in a different class and will quite rightly win the First Division. The 3-1 scoreline flattered us, it should have been a lot worse.

It was important to get back on the winning trail, as Deano's Stenhousemuir came calling. His sides are always well organised and hard to break down, and so we would have to be at our best to get a result. Thankfully, we were, as Ryan Green once more, and Peter Edwards got the goals to give us a good 2-0 win.

The final game for now was away at Clyde, and after taking a 19th minute lead through Ryan Green, who else, we decided to throw it away, and ended up losing 2-1 against a side who really aren't all that great.

Despite that dissapointing defeat though, we still sit in a very respectable 4th place, and we have a chance to come 2nd, which would be absolutely incedible with a side that hasnt cost me a penny to put together. Fourteen points clear of the relegation zone after 16 played, and I think its safe to tempt fate and say we wont go down. If we can keep our top 4 place, I will be a very delighted manager.

LoonsLogo.jpg

With a third of the season gone now, the Loons are on a record breaking 15 game unbeaten run, and proudly sit in 1st place at the top of the Division 1 table. The question was raised, "did gaffer Turps think the Loons can go unbeaten through the hole season?" The answer? well i doubt it... but who knows! we just cannot stop scoring and no one can break us down. Despite our 10 point lead (and its not even christmas yet!) Nothing has been won yet and gaffer Turps is far to wise to get drawn on winning the league like that fud Bod for example! The big prezzie is still 6 months away! In this tightly packed competitive division anything is possible and any of the human managers are capable of getting a run together(Well except Chris who is fecking P¡sh and should let Tam or Gaz have a go!). Amazingly the League lead over the rivals has allowed some fringe players to get a chance and some youth has been bled, and older players rested. The on going improvement of the 1st team is continuing, but not too much.. as to unsettle the dressing room or affect the League form. Conisitancy of team selection and our superb morale along with experience has been the biggest contributing factor to this season's good form. Lets hope it continues!

The Loons recieved their biggest ever transfer fee as Peterborough secured Left winger Mark Robertson for £250k. Swindon also bought 2 youth players for £40k and the funds will enable the 1st team to be strengthened when the transfer window shortly opens. Paul McLaughlin & Gary Caldwell have already agreed terms and will boost the 1st team both in terms of experience and give greater depth. Up front Oskarsson has been sensational, and who knows how well the Loons would have performed without his pace and strength up front leading the line. There is a possibilty another top class striker will be joining as his foil, but for now Porhalsson and the fringe youth starlets are getting a chance. The departure of Robertson has given young left winger Ryan Bayliss a chance in the 1st team. Other transfer news included the signing of young Scottish ex Liverpool starlet Ryan Wilkie on a Free transfer His arrival has significantly improved the depth in the other wide are, and will push Veirinha for a 1st team place. The arrival of Wilkie has signalled an end for Neil Jablonski who is now surplus to requirements along with David Clarkson. Jablonski has done reasonably well since joining from Dundee last season, but failed to impress in an area where we need serious quality.

The Loons have also reached another Cup semi and have drawn Deano's stenny in the Semi Final of the League Cup. A final place against one of the old firm awaits the lucky winner, and not to mention a bumper pay day into the bargain. With the 2nd half of the season looming, the Loons are looking to maintain the consistancy and consolidate the only promotion spot and 1st division title. Anything in the Cups is a bonus, the good run is certain to come to an end at some time, but for now life is good at Station Park and the fans are loving it! Away from Forfar Clyde look still capable of promotion and a challenge can be expected from Dogs team when he returns from holiday. The rest of the Human gaffers are tightly packed and its a shame only 1 goes up to the SPL. Sav's Airdrie and PM7's Arbroath have done very well after coming up from Division 2 last season and are both dangerous, and out to hurt the Loons unbeaten record. Motherwell have been poor and their lack of challenge will result in their dud manage Chris Nicol getting sacked. Deano's Stenny are well organised and always tricky home and away. The rest of the teams and 'Gypo' gaffers in the Division are not worth mentioning and have been simply shocking. With 3 of the Ai clubs loosing their managers perhaps some more of the Clan managers can be tempted into Division 1 and take on the challenge! They better be quick if they want a crack at the Loons as were gonna be kicking Bod's Butt soon, one way or another !!!

morton.jpg

Shock Horror Shock !

Morton are a team is disarray, no conviction or consistency in our play, the signings, all 100K of then, struggle to find form, the fans are not sure what to do with them or make of them. Firmino promise's so much, and some games is simple stunning others, he looks like a young boy lost, his young age and Morton's lack of onfield leadership may be the problem.

The defence has been a little shambolic as well, with players seeming not knowing who they are marking and running all over the place, tactics seem to be the problem and manager Stewart is going back to the drawing board and basics to try and find a solution before he finds his P45.

The most glaring problem for Morton has been the lack of supply to the strikers from the left hand side, with almost nothing all season coming down the left wing, but with the arrival of the new left winger, Stewart looks to add more depth and options in his attack.

Berry was on the Morton Scrap heap but has been pulled into the first team to add some much needed speed in the attack and has helped out his cause for staying by chipping in with a few goals.

All in all, not the best seasons start for the Ton, but Stewart is not giving up and changes are in hand, the board and fans expect a mid table finish and that will be delivered but more should be given and expected.

WHY CANT PETERHEAD WIN AWAY

Its been a positive start from Peterhead working with more or less the same squad that failed last year but no wins away all season is a bad statistic to have beside your name.Home form is something to work on as only one draw and one defeat means they cant be doing much wrong, but when they go on thier travels it dosent seem to gel Gunn said"Our home form is good but away we are not looking as strong we have only two defeats away but no wins which worries me a bit but January should see a few new faces come in to help the cause and a few tactical adjustments and we should be ok"So far Gunn has been doing a good job with limited resources but it looks like Alloa and Queens Park will be promoted this year but still a long way to go.With Cove Rangers in the cup next Gunn will be looking to progress to the next round but Cove knocked Raith out last round so not an easy game here is a rundown of the blue toons games of last session:-

PETERHEAD 2 ALBION R 1

Bavidge and Cusick seal the win for Peterhead with well taken goals.

PETERHEAD 9 ELGIN 0

Peterhead was in the mood for destruction from the start with Bavidge getting an early goal Brown scored twice Robertson scored one and midfielder Davis scored 5 all top class strikes from outside the box Gunn said "there has been intrest in Davis but he will be one that has a big future at Peterhead over the next few years."

STIRLING A 1 PETERHEAD 0

This says it all about the away form after a massive win a poor performance that will have Gunn raging.

PETERHEAD 2 STRANREAR 0

Nicholls with a penalty and another quality strike by Davis sealed a win as Peterhead kept up there good home form.

EAST FIFE 0 PETERHEAD 0

Another boring game away from home leaving Gunn wondering what he has to do to get his first win away.

PETERHEAD 5 QUEENS PARK 3

A Brilliant game to watch for the attacking play, not good defensivley though Bavidge scored 2 Sim,Jones and Nicholls getting a goal a piece but the defense was very poor.

PETERHEAD 2 COWDENBEATH 2

Bavidge and Rice Scored but Brown was sent off and Gunn thinks they could have had 3 points if he wasnt sent off he said "Brown was a very silly man and ill be giving him a warning as there was no danger when he got sent off,we could have won that game with 11 men as we were better with 10 than they were but i feel sorry for the keeper who scored an og in the last min it couldnt be helped"

Gunn will now look for a cup run to genarate more cash but i think it wont be until next year till we see the real Peterhead but with the home form looking good it gives them real hope for the future just the away form to sort out now.

East Stirlingshire

(I need a banner)

At the start of the season 'Shire' boss Burnett recognised two main threat's to a successful campaign, Raith Rovers & Gretna, and it was with this in mind that the trip to Fife to face Rovers was faced with much trepidation especially since Rovers had beaten the 'Shire' on the opening day of the season.

RAITH ROVERS (A) Lge

This was a hard fought but fair battle, Rovers proved to be the dominant force in the first 45 taking a two goal lead into the dressing room at the interval, but a red card saw the balance of power shift and the 'Shire' began to press the home sides goal. 10 man Raith could not keep the 'Shire' out and the visitors fought back to win the match with 3 second half goals.

2-3 win

Ross county had already been beaten by the 'Shire' and Burnett knew they were no real threat, so when they came to Firs Park Burnett took the oppertunity to promote young fullback French from the reserves to the first team and he gave the youngster full license to use his pace and run at the County defence.

magnificent is not a word I use often, unless Im talking about myself, but it surely applies to the first showing of this young Scot, he set out his stall early by taking the ball in the opening minute and racing down the right wing cracking a thunderbolt off the crossbar from 30yds. His passing and reading of the game were beautiful and he consistantly

made intelligent probing pass's that tormented the visitors and were lapped up by the 'Shire' front runners.

The icing on the cake coming in the form of an other blistering run which saw him cut inside the defender and fire in his first senior goal.

7-0 win

The last meeting between the 'Shire' and Morton ended all square at 2-2 Burnett was convinced that scoreline flattered Morton so with the second meeting of the two clubs at Firs park, Burnett was looking for a convincing win, he got it and an impressive team display into the bargain.

4-0 win

Brechin had already been on the recieving end of a pasting at Firs Park so when Burnett took his 'Shire' side North he he was in confident mood. As the match unfurled it developed into a total nightmare. "Ping Pong" is the only way to describe the action, they score, we scored, they scored, etc, etc, Burnett had to gamble and push forward for the win, he couldnt sit back and hope to settle for the draw as Brechin were proving far to dangerous, the gamble paid off and the 'Shire' boss was relieved to leave with three points. The only plus from the game came in the form of Naismith bagging a club record 5 match goals.

5-7 win

Back home and the 'Shire' welcomed Montrose, the 'Shire' record against this club is not good and had suffered defeat by them earlier in the season. The resulting match proved that the 'Shire' can match and indeed outplay Montrose BUT cant seem to do what really matters, score goals.

0-2 loss

The away match at Dumbarton proved to be a surprisingly dull uneventful event, with few chances being made and those that were, squandered.

0-0 Draw

Down South and away to Gretna, the 'Shire' had humiliated the border side at their previous meeting in Falkirk 5-2, so for the return Burnett was expecting the home side to apply constant pressure and had amended his defensive strategy accordingly.

Rarely has Burnett saw a team disintegrate before his eye's the way Gretna did in this match, and it became something of an embaressment rather than a joyful occassion.

2-9 win

It's still early in the campaign but East Stirling continue to confound the pundits and are making a concerted effort for the title, there are still area's that can improve and Burnett is constantly battling with zero budget to produce the ultimate footballing side.

Arbroath H 2-2

This was a great fight back to earn us the point from 2-0 down. Elliot got two great goals that left Arbroath who have only themselves to blame with the point. The Diamonds simply will not lie down to any team and that’s great to see although we should have done better with us being at home.

Motherwell 2-2

Another draw and another two goals for (M.O.M) Elliot. Manager Robertson looks like he might need to try a new pairing up front and Jaconelli looks to have earned his place beside Elliot after his show from the bench.

Clyde 1-1

The same old story with a draw and Elliot (M.O.M) on the score sheet. David Lowing was also exceptional at the back. To be fair we should have had all three points but for some poor finishing. Can we get over this hump of getting draws, lets hope so.

St.Johnstone A 3-1

A bit of a disappointment with only Elliot and Gow who scored getting pass marks. Our defending was amateurish at times and we just did not look up for it.

Stenhousemuir A 1-2

Our first win in ages and we welcome the points. Everyone played well with Jaconelli and Carlos hitting the back of the net. Mathieson was (M.O.M) in our goal to make sure we left with all the points, the Managers decision to swap keepers looks to be paying off.

IN.C. Thistle H 6-0

To be kind it might just be that Thistle have a new manager but they were seriously outplayed from the start. Two goals from Jaconelli (M.O.M) and Barry Elliot and with O’Brian and Carlos scoring also from the wings it was a very one sided affair. Eddie Logan and Leon Bell were also fantastic off the bench after a few injuries crept in. Thistle will be walked over unless they improve fast in this division. With St.Mirren getting some points at last Thistle might need to keep an eye that they do not slip to often or it could be 2nd division next season.

Was that a splash I heard?

Falkirk H 3-1

It was another great performance off the whole team with Elliot being the stand out with his two goals (M.O.M) Manager Robertson understands just what this player means to the club. Gow came off the bench to try and force his way back to the starting eleven and scored a great goal.

Queens Park Update

Overall it was a mixed session for Queens Park as we won the Challenge Cup but went out of the Scottish Cup and fell further behind Alloa in the league.

Queens Park are still 2nd in the league, 6 points behind Jim's Alloa and 6 points ahead of Baz's Peterhead.

Queens Park Win Challenge Cup - Morton 1-3 Queens Park

The Spiders worked hard and fully deserved to lift their first, and most likely, only piece of silverware this season. However, they went behind early after Dave McEwen scored in the 4th minute when he stole the ball off Queens defender, Doane, and finished with ease. Kristjansson responded 8 minutes later and the score remained 1-1 up until the 89th minute when Cornelly scored an impressive goal from the edge of the area, then again in injury time to make it 3-1. The easily impressed Queens Park fans are already calling for a statue of their new mangager following the cup success.

Stirling 2-2 Queens Park

Kristjansson put the away side 2-0 ahead with two first half goals (4,41 mins). Stirling scored right after half time through Andy MacDonald (47) and continued to press throughout the rest of the game so it wasn't a surprise when they equalised through Mike Thorpe (87). Even though it was a fair result it was still hard to take as we held on for so long.

Queens Park 5-1 Berwick

This scoreline flattered Queens Park as althogh we deserved the 3 points it was by no means an easy game. Quinn put the away side in front (15) before Cornelly equalised (30) and Doane made it 2-1 (33) after a corner. The atch remained pretty even up until the 76th minute when we went 3-1 up, O'Connor getting the goal this time. Berwick fell apart and late goals from Lee San (85) and Kristjansson (90) made it 5-1.

Queens Park 2-2 Albion Rovers

A poor home performance by Queens Park standards. It was 1-0 at half time as Hodge put QP ahead Graeme McHaul scored after 50 minutes to make it 1-1, I thought we had nicked it when James Rooney scored an OG in the 80th minute but for the second time in three games we conceded a late equaliser, our defence will have to shape up if we are going to gain promotion, Andrew O'Brien got the goal.

Elgin 1-3 Queens Park

Business as usual at lowly Elgin Kristjansson scored early (3) then O'Connor made it 2-0 (26) Elgin scored their consolation a few minutes later through a Ian Spencer penalty. Kristjansson scored his second (62) to wrap up the 3 points.

Queens Park 2-2 Alloa

A tough game against the league leaders as they went 1-0 through David Poole (6) Kristjansson scored the equaliser 8 minutes later but a lapse in concentration after the goal meant Sam Hird could make it 2-1 to Alloa (16). It stayed this way until half time, as the second half began it remained a scrappy game. O'Connor scored Queens Park's second to continue his good scoring form as well as equalise. The game fizzled out as the Spiders blew a good chance to close the points gap at the top of the division.

Alloa 2-1 Queens Park Scottish Cup 1st Round

This was a tough one to take as Walker scored in the 90th minute to put Alloa into the next round. Queens Park where deservant of the draw but again the defence couldn't hold on. Hamilton out Alloa ahead (35), Cornelly equalised (61) but it wasn't enough.

Peterhead 5-3 Queens Park

Queens Park were embarassed here as they were outplayed from thestart until the 80th minute. Goals from Sim (52), Jimmi Lee Jones (71) and a double from Martin Bavidge (35, 79) made it 4-0 to the home side. The Spiders fight bak came too late Cornelly made it 4-1, Richard Nicholls made it 5-1 then Hodge and Kristjansson scored 2 more to at least make the scoreline a bit more respectable.

East Fife 2-5 Queens Park

A comfortable win for Queens Park here as goals from Scott, O'Connor a Kristjansson double and another from Cornelly meant the defence could relax and they did, as always, and in the process conceding two sloppy goals.

Our defence has to improve big time if we are going to keep up our good league position as it has already cost us valuable points and despite some tactical tweaks its still pish. We didn't keep a clean sheet this session which is poor for a team so high in the league. However, the midfield and attack are doing well - specifically Kristjansson, O'Connor and Cornelly and this is the reason we are challenging for promotion rather than mid table obscurity.

Consistency, what?, consistency

Something that seems to be missing from out performances so far this season, i know you're sitting there wondering but Gretna are still winning Gretna are still 2nd in the league.

Well yeah that is true but they are small things that is not consistent like winning one game comfortabley then struggling in the next, having a solid performance in defence in one game and crumbling in the next, having a fluid passing movement one game, forgetting the basics the next. It can't go on or we will be found out just like we have been by East Stirling who if we don't buck our ideas up will no doubt take all 12 points from us this season, because for whatever reason it may be wheter demons or voodoo when we face East Stirling we crumble, it might be my own fault i should take a more cautios approach to these games but that has never been my style.

With safety from relegation seemingly assured, and no chance of promotion thanks to the selfishness of the SPL, all we were playing for now in the league was the best possibly position. Struggling Motherwell were the next visitors to Gayfield, and they were to get no relief from their dire position as a Peter Edwards goal from six yards gave us the win.

St Johnstone were easily seen off by 3-0, and then we had a double header against Airdrie. First up was the league match at home, and in a match the visitors dominated, we were lucky to hold on for a point in a goalless draw.

The Scottish Cup had also seen us play Airdrie, this time at their ground, and the match was almost a reversal of the previous one, as we were the better side for most of it. Thompson sent us into a 30th minute lead, and it looked as if our cup jinx was about to be smashed until Airdrie equalised seven minutes from time, and our double header became a triple one.

By this time, the players, the fans, and the managers, were getting sick of the sight of each other, and after 5 draws in our last six meetings, this was sure to be another tight match. But something had to give, as the match would be decided today. A 13th minute strike from Ebanks-Blake was enough to see us reach the 4th round of the cup for the first time under my charge, and our reward is an away tie with local rivals Brechin, who had just put out Rangers, and therefore denying us our money spinning glamour tie.

Perhaps the exertions of the games against Airdrie had been too much for the young side, as they came unstuck at home to a St Midden side who are utterly dire, and I was far from happy with a pathetic 1-0 loss. Still, we have done exceptionally well this season, and I suppose we can forgive the boys this one slip up. But it bloody better not happen again.

Ur in 2nd Dogs 10 behind as Bod was pleased to point out. Clyde have only lost 4 but have drawn a few including @ Forfar, although they hammerd Sav's Airdrie 6-0 which was funny. Livvy knocked ye oot the Cup 3-1 away and the Jan transfer window is still open so plenty of time to strengthen for the run or jump ship to an SPL club soon.

BLUE TOON HAVE MISRABLE SESSION

Peterhead had a session they would rather forget although they finally won an away game they had 5 away games in a row which ended in 3 defeats and 2 wins.A few injury problems over the christmas pierod didnt help things much with top scorer Bavidge injured for 3 weeks,Peterhead struggled for goals without Bavidge having to call on transfer listed reserves to do a job.Gunn is starting to realise the job infront of him but is confident of sorting them out before the start of next season and with the team in the red it looks as if Gunn will have to start scouting for free transfers if he wants new players he said"with a couple of guys leaving the club in january it is freeing up much needed wages to get new faces in,the defence has to be the main target with too much goals being scored against us.We have a few new coaches including Neil"razor"Ruddock so that should help but we need to freshen things up and keep all players on their toes." Here is a rundown of the blue toons christmas and new year period:-

COVE RANGERS 0 PETERHEAD 1SCOTTISH CUP 2nd ROUND

Peterhead defended well and scored the goal they needed through Sim but not very convincing without Bavidge and Davis to control things in the middle they pull through to the next round where they will hope for a home tie against a big club.

ALBION R 1 PETERHEAD 2

Peterhead finally with an away win in the league and Sim in fine form scoring two after the match Gunn said"Sim has grabbed his chance while Bavidge has been injured and he has looked like he wants the jersey to keep i hope he can keep it up."

ELGIN C 2 PETERHEAD 1

After Blue Toon destroying Elgin 9 0 earlier on in the season it was always going to be a case of revenge here as Elgin battled from start to finish Gilroy scored a consolation for Peterhead but Elgin will be enjoying there sweet revenge.

BERWICK R 1 PETERHEAD 0

A poor performance all round here setting them up for an away trip to Hibs Gunn said"If we play like that vs Hibs they will rip us apart its just not good enough since Bavidge has been out we cant score we get chances but fail to score its poor real poor."

HIBS 4 PETERHEAD 1SCOTTISH CUP 3rd ROUND

Peterhead were 3 goals down inside the first 11 mins,at that point it looked like it could go into double figures but after getting to grips with the pace of the game they managed to get an unlikley goal through Brown but Hibs were to strong and skillfull and scored again as Peterhead were simply outclassed.

PETERHEAD 2 STIRLING 0

Another strong performance at home with King getting his first goal since joining in january and davis back from injury getting the other with one of his drives from outside the area but a much better performance here and a welcome return of Bavidge from injury gave the fans alot to smile about.

With only a week of the transfer deadline left there might still be a few people moving in and out of the club but all in all it could be worse Gunn could be manager of Motherwell icon_biggrin.gif

Mixed bag of results in the last session with two defeats and two wins in 4 very close matches.

Gretna are certainly making life in the 2nd division exciting if not difficult for themselves with conceding and scoring for fun at times however we are still in contention and it's been a good start to the season but we have lost some key games already and that can come back to haunt us come the end of the season.
