The final session was upon us with promotion already decided Peterhead will still be in division 3 next year but alot of positives to come out of this season as Peterhead looked a team on the up the second half of the season. With no money to spend it looks like its going to be mostly the same players hear next year but that group looked really fired up for the last half of season only losing once in 15 games. With the end of the season here the transfers will come in thick and fast around Scotland Gunn hopes he will get a few frees but is struggling to tempt players to join the blue toon due to there division 3 status.

this sessions results:-

PETERHEAD 2 QUEENS PARK 1

Bavidge and Goodman scoring the goals that saw the 3 points go to the blue toon but a bad mistake from the keeper let Queens Park in when they hadnt had a clear cut chance the whole game.

BERWICK 0 PETERHEAD 1

Robertson scored a goal in a close game against new manager Powlay but Gunn expects it to be diffarent next year once Powlay sorts his team and gets a few faces in.

PETERHEAD 2 COWDENBEATH 1

All goals were scored in the last 10 mins with Goodman scoring two well taken strikes to give Peterhead the upper hand.

ALBION R 1 PETERHEAD 4

Peterhead sign off the season in style King opened the scoring with a pen and Goodman grabbed a double with Davis scoring with a long range drive to finish the season off on a high.

Gunn is looking forward to next year as pre season gets close and will do everything in his power to try and take Peterhead to promotion in the coming season but with no money and no one intrested in joining Gunn might have to settle for being a dud.

LoonsLogo.jpg

THE LOONS ARE 1ST DIVISION CHAMPIONS - WERE GONNA CELEBRATE....WELL MAYBE NOT!!!

Well thats another one over, and what a cracking season it was, with plenty of highs, and just one low at Station park. In 3 years Forfar Athletic have been transformed from a small backwater Division 2 side to a new SPL dawn, and promotion to play the bigger boys in the SPL. Division 1 was highly competitive but the title was comprehensive in the end, won by over 20 points. No one could get near the Loons this year in the league, and with only 3 losses recorded the championship and only promotion place was much deserved. Despite the gulf to 2nd place, many great battles were fought most notably with rivals Arbroath and Airdrie who pushed the Loons hard. The great derbies of season 3 against all the human Clan gaffers, will be sorely missed next season, but for now the consolidation on the bigger stage and downfall of Bod is now the target.

With the Scottish League Cup secured earlier in the season and promotion to the SPL, there was much to be thankfull for this season, and at the start everyone at the club would have been delighted with that! Reaching the Scottish Cup Final for the 2nd year running was in itself a great achievement. And amazingly the Loons were favourites in the final against lowly rivals Alloa managed by Jim Hastie. Some comical goalkeeping saw the Loons take an early lead but Alloa faught back and at half time the game was very evenly matched. Some 2nd half bad luck most notably a knock to star player Oskarsson and the red card of Skipper Hughes was too much to stop the attack minded Alloa, and two poor goals were conceded froma defensive point of view. The Scottish Cup was lost, and Alloa were deserved winners after taking thier chances in the 2nd half when Forfar could'nt. Credit is due to the way Alloa played, and the game was exciting and open to the end. On another day things might have been different but a repeat of last years triumph was not to be. The loss was all the more dissapointing as the chance to play in next season's EUFA Cup competition was also lost, but gaffer Turps is not bitter. the Loons have been fortunate so far in the netgame, and this season the team have achieved a unique double and promotion to the SPL.

Team wise the small 1st team squad have performed above expectations with Striker Oskarsson the star man and player of the year by a mile. Fans favourite Kevin'Skreech' Byers was also immense and along with Osk was rewarded with a bumper new contract for all their effort this season. The Loons scored the most goals in the League and had the best defensive record also which was pleasing considering the quality teams around us. It has been a long season with good runs in all cups including europe. The heavy schedule gave youth and fringe players a chance and many look set to feature in the 1st team which is very positive. With over 50 games this season the team did tire a little towards the end of the season, and some of the 1st team looked jaded,. maybe this contributed to the Cup final loss but its hard to find fault in the squad who have been assembled for not a lot of money and are on poor wages. As always ome guys will be moving on and some new faces have been lined up for the next season already.but the team will be much the same for the assault on the SPL next season. Heres who the main performers were this season and all the results...

State of Emergency!

Club in crisis! Recievers called in!

The scene is a conference suite somewhere in paisley, hundreds of reporters and photographers (5 one being turps) await a statement from St. Mirren manager Simon Lynn where he is expected to announces his desire for the club to bounces back up to the 1st and how times will be hard in the comming season.

Hush falls over the crowd as Simon Lynn enters the conference room.

"Now before i take questions i have a statement to make on behalf of myself and the board"

"As we all now are aware the draw at St. Johnstone was enough to relegate us, yeah, for sure. And we are all now too well aware of the financial mire now facing the beloved buddies"

"But i can assure every fan out there that the board and myself are here for the long term, to see St. Mirren back in the SPL in only a matter of seasons. We can bring back the glory years, it will take time, hard work and perseverance but we can do it, we must.......

Mobile phone goes of to the tune of follow follow

"erm hold on on second"

Simon reaches into his suit brest pocket and pulls out his phone and answers it

"Hello? Hi Tam, look im..... Agent fee? what for?.....Ah ha?.... Where??......yeah yeah i know the place wi the marriges and that........Where in the league!.......How far is it from here?......I dont know where i am, i think its called mirren......OK pull the car up outside and ill be there in five....cheers"

Simon looks at the awaiting reporters

"erm im sorry you will have to excuse me family emergency.....

At that Simon Lynn leaves the room...........

gretna-banner.jpg

The scene a packed (7 people) conference hall in Gretna

The crowd are stunned when Simon Lynn walks out and approaches the table

"Now where was I....oh yeah... Gretna are a sleeping giant of a club and i aim to stick by them through thick and thin, together with the support of the fans we can make Gretna a force in Scottish football!"

"It is bright future at Gretna with a talented squad and backroom staff and alot of promising yougsters, the last manager has left me a good pool of players. Although in the period where the assistant and board ran team affairs they sold both the clubs biggest assets in Cameron and Laurie for mere peanuts i believe this summer we can get a few new faces in to hopefully fill the void"

"Heres to a Long term (Ahem!) future!"

In.C.Thistle H 4-0

An easy win with four great goals from Elliot, Logan, Carlos(M.O.M) and Jaconelli. The team performed well and got the win but at the cost of loosing both Greg Watson and John fitter to injury and with the current suspensions the back line is going to be weak the next few games.

St. Mirren A 5-3

Manager Robertson takes the blame and he knows it for this match by not noticing Gregg Watson was only 40% and just back from injury and considered to be very unfit and we played him most of the game till the 70th minute. With Fitter and our stand out player David Lowing still out it has considerably weakened the back four and it showed. Two goals by Elliot and one from Carlos should have been enough but we were leaking goals at an embarrassing level.

Falkirk H 1-1

With the end of the season I think we have taken the eye of the ball, Jaconnelli scored a good goal but Falkirk pulled one back to draw. It will be good to freshen up the team for the start of the new season.

Forfar H 1-0

The team performed well and although Oskarsson missed two great chances for the Loons and we cleared the threat I think we deserved the draw considering our back four was still missing three players. Manager Robertson decided with the game being meaningless and only pride at stake to try a shut out from the strongest front line in the division and went to a defensive formation with an extra DM sitting just off the back four and one forward. It took one slip up and Neil Ball to get a goal for the home team to win.

Manager Robertson commented “ I wont miss Oskarrson and Byers next season when they go up to the SPL as we only managed Two win this season over the loons and lost two. I am a great admirer of Oskers work and it will be interesting if he can keep it going in the SPLâ€

Barry Elliot, Eddie Logan and Ben Andrews were selected in the Scottish first division team of the year.

Statement Of Intent:

On to a new season and hopefully we can build on this solid performance as second place was exceptional this year. Some of the players have proved they can shine at this level and some good players were not given the chance. We lost out to our first signing to Forfar (Boo hiss) of Bertelsen but we will continue to aim for proven quality and we hope to bring in a few star players. The squad has built up nicely so we will not be buying any back-up players or players that have not been playing to a high level regularly.

PS Ouch on some of those payouts and well done Chris..

SEASON 4 BETTING ODDS NOW AVAILABLE *All bets are on clubs regardless if gaffers move on !*

Due to the massive payout in season 3 odds are now not as generous as before. At this early stage it is very hard to asses the market value as no signings have been made yet in preseason. odds are calculated on team and managers Clan ability and future potential by the host, and all bets are on clubs regardless if Clan gaffers move on to pasture's new.

* PLZ not all bets for season 4 should be placed before kick off which will probably be next monday - Also they will be collected at the meet up in advance*

Youth Players

Ok lads , a situation has arisen which i know one person is less than happy about, and i feel its only fair i put my feelings on this to the lads and get a vote on it afore it becomes an issue in the game.

In season 1, we had an issue with someone bidding on the youth players of another player. Back then, nobody had a budget, nobody cared a whole lot, and it was laughed off. But now , 3 seasons into the game, and theres some serious budgets kicking about, and this could develop into an issue.

A certain manager (no names mentioned) has a penchant for forcing his youth players contracts down to almost non existent levels in order to keep his wage bill down and spend his funds on experienced first team players. Now this is a little unrealistic, but since weve never said you have offer a minimum amount to anyone as a wage (and were not going to start now) , theres nothing wrong with it.

However, as compensation for a youth player is based on the current salary, it has been possible for me to bid on 8 of this persons youth players , and get all of them for a combined fee of less than £350k, decimating their youth squad and at the same time making my U-19's look like Brazil 1970. Its underhand, but as we have never said youths should be protected, its legal under clan rules.

What im proposing is that we have an agreement whereby no bids will be made by clan players on other teams youth players until such times as they reach 17 years of age. This will prevent a lot of clubs (in particular anyone in the lower divisions lucky enough to get a real gem through the youth system or on a free) from losing their star kids for absoloutely nothing.

If the clan agrees to this, ill retract all the bids i have placed on said individuals kids and peace will be restored.

1 vote for "No signing other teams U17's"

Editors Note : Once they reach 17yrs of age, they are fair game because you can issue them proper professional contracts and refuse offers, something you cant do with a youth

Link to post

I would agree with this, and indeed virtually all sensible clans have this rule. I know most people dont actually bother with youth in this clan from what I've seen, but they should, esp those with no budgets, and its too easy for bigger clubs to then come along and steal your player. Ok, you get money, but i dont imagine £50k is really going to help a club replace a decent player in the lower reaches.

I cant see why anyone wouldnt agree to such a ruling actually.

I like the way greedy Bod has selfishly manifested the hoovering of youth players and is forging a head with his proposals, shaking the rules and Clan constitution to the core. Is ther no end to his self obsessed gluttony.

Forget me if I am wrong but I thought ther was a gentleman,s agreement at the meet Maybe Bod was away for food or playing the puggy at this point) not to mess with anyone elses team. For the most all the Team players have respected this apart from the niave and the gutsy. There is no honour now in scottish fitba icon_rolleyes.gif

Guest sav112

Well it’s not my youth players he’s bid on, I let the youth system deal with it’s self and occasionally look in and I have not been hovering the cream.

I thought is was simply agreed that we would not pursue clan managers teams.

Laymen’s

So anyone that’s done a bit of over hovering the star kids will have to give contracts to their 17 year olds and give them a wage thus making it costly to do because at that age they are fair game to the others.

The Right Honorable Member for Bishopton made it VERY clear in Season 1, when Sav made a bid on one of PM's players , that it was , and I quote , "Entirely up to the individual, theres no rules on it". Theres no gentlemens agreement here, and that statement has stood ever since. It didnt matter in season 1 and 2 when the highest budget anyone ever got was a few hundred thou. But this season , wi the million plus budgets of a few teams, something has to be said , else the 3 or 4 players wi huge budgets can take any player they want. The aim of the game is to get all the lads into the SPL and have a really good battle. Itll be bloody one sided if by the time the likes of The Two Tams and Powlay get to the SPL , theyre playing Youth Teams that have developed over 4 or 5 seasons and theyve not been able to develop their own because someones hoovering them all up for no compensation.

All im asking for is protection for youth teams Turpie as a clan rule. No a "Gentlemans Agreement" when very few of us come even close to that description.

Why the prevarication over what is a simple rule to implement? If a player at a human club is under 17, then no other human manager may approach that player without first approaching the manager. Seems reasonable to me, whats people's motives for fluffing on this?

“Sav made a bid on one of PM's players†it’s the only instance in 3 seasons is it not and done by mistake.

As Pm understands his 15 year old first team player was nearly signed by myself because I was looking more at his great performance over the season in his first team and I put in on my short list without looking at his age, then he flagged up as contract expired or expiring and I said I’ll have him.

Anyway it was sorted and contract retracted and PM informed it was a pure mistake by a rather grovelling E-mail. icon_biggrin.gif

Different if he had signed because the lad was a regular first team start and a major part of pm’s team. I’d have been annoyed as well loosing him and for nothing after working on my youth. . It’s a bit different from looking in his youth team and picking the off.

Yeh , i know it was an accident and it was a reserve, but i have a team of U19's and i intend on keeping almost every single one of them. If say , Gaz got the Aberdeen job , had £5 million , and took half my youth squad after id spent years developing them from 14 onwards , id be pretty ****ed, which is how Turps is feeling right about now.

Being (currently) the biggest club with one of the biggest budgets, id lose out more than others if i couldnt nick the star kids from other teams, but i want to see a level playing field so thats what im prepared to do.

How hypocritical of you Bod when you are the one who has 6 offers in for my youth players. You must be really scared of the Loons next season to nab their talent and force me to use my small funds in better contracts, after playing the AI for so long icon_wink.gif

Fear Rosco?

Ive got a League Winning Side and im playing with the Big Boys in the CL. Youve got the GPG brigade, but im not that worried about them, my kids will develop into real stars, and whether I win lose or draw this season , the club will move on from strength to strength. You couldnae beat Alloa Athletic in the Cup Finals.

That said, they always say its easier to win it once than to defend the title, and I doubt im going to have an easy ride this season. Bring it on big man. The Jags are ready and willing, but will Rosco stay with the Loons for the whole season with the Killie job looming ...... is he loyal to his "Wee Team" , or a Glory Hunting Gyppo? icon_wink.gif

I dont sign anyones youth except yours Rosco. They all offer decent contracts to their kids, so i cant afford the compensation.

Think like a small club and youll end up a small club. Small Clubs sell their best players all the time icon_biggrin.gif

just to stir things right up,

Bod you tried to do the exact same thing in the sunday game, you tried to steal alex's 15yr old and the guy was only in the game to mins, the only reason you didn't was you got sacked and when i took over i cancelled the contract.

I remember the gentlemans agreement at the meet, and I have a number off youth players on my shortlist, but I've not bid and I wont until they are freed or i ask the manager about availability.

To me the only fair way is to retract all bids, but thats only the way I see it.
