zlatanera
Seems to have done ok on Marin, although I would have hoped he’d have better top-half mentals (decisions etc.). Hopefully you can maximise his potential then flog him to Madrid for €300m!
lblanc
Season 5 August Good start to the season 4 wins from 4 Benfica and Porto keeping up with me though. Of course my big aim for this season is to win the champions league Well i'll need to do it the hard way, after a tough draw. The league cup though gave me a good chance of progression Seems August is over the transfer window is over, as said in the last update I did have one more player who I was working on..I actually brought in two. Wilson Isidor- €3.3m from Monaco The young French man comes in from Monaco for a nice low fee Spoiler Some good stats there that I'm hoping I can improve on. The second signing was Dusko Pilipovic a Croatian wonderkid signing from Rijeka who i've sent back to for the season I paid €19M for him Spoiler Player of the month Diogo Bras scored five goals and 3 assists during August so he deserves it. Up next in September My first post World Cup squad sees Braganca and Leao come in to the team with Luis and Rafa missing out due to injury and obviously the retirement of Ronaldo. Bras was unlucky to miss out (by unlucky I mean I totally forgot to add him) Edited July 9, 2019 by lblanc
lblanc
Season 5 September A great start in the Champions League, Marin tore Spurs apart bagging a hat trick and assisting the other. I then lost to Guimaraes which was slightly annoying but of course it's still early and I have time to recover those dropped points later in the year. Player of the month Antonio Marin- he was superb this month, as mentioned his demolition job of Spurs was brilliant he also made his Croatia debut. Up next in October Two big games against Milan and of course my first Benfica clash of the season. As for Portugal my first match after being crowned World Champions And my first loss as national manager Griezmann doing the damage but lack defending from a corner seen Laporte win it at the death for the French. After that I had a friendly with Argentina A few of the younger lads got a run out here with Daniel Braganca getting his debut. Up next in October Denmark and France in the Nations League The following is the squad I've picked, some injuries see the young Baro comes in to squad the Porto man is on loan at Torino and will get his chance to impress. The newly eligible Nikola Maras also comes in after declaring for Portugal after 7 years playing for Chaves and Braga. He has some decent mental stats so I'll be keen to see what he'll bring. lblanc
Been a while.... October Season 5 The month went really well, a 7-1 humbling of Maritimo, followed by a 2-1 win for a young side in the Taca and a great 6-1 win over Milan, then my great record over Benfica continued, another young team beats Feirense 3-1 to all but put me through barring a 4 goal loss to Lusitania. A 1-1 draw with Milan sees me qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League (Not sure why the game was on the Saturday) Player of the month has to be Andre Silva 8 goals during the month including hat tricks in the games against Maritimo and Milan. The month of November sees me at home 4 times This is the current League table A tough month for Benfica sees them drop to 4th albeit with a game in hand. Porto are unbeaten so far and could go top with their game in hand. It was a big month for the national team too, two must win games and they were thrillers Silva continued his great form with the national team hitting another hat trick against Denmark Next up was France and a chance of revenge Same score as last time just this time in my favour. not going to lie I got very nervous when Griezmann scored in the 89th minute but I managed to hold on for a vital win. The table currently stands like so. with France playing Denmark in the first round of fixtures I'll know exactly what I need when I visit Copenhagen after I play Italy in a friendly. Some injuries and suspensions as well as as the friendly fixture beforehand gives me a chance to blood some new players into the squad Djalo has done well whilst out on loan so deserves his chance. Two potential new caps Umaro Embalo The youngster has broken into the Benfica first team this season and I'll be keen to see what he can do. Pedro Neto He was a player I was interested in before I decided to go for Isidor, he moved to Juventus and has also done well.
lblanc
Season 5 November A great month 100% record if there was anything to be of annoyance it was that I needed extra time in the Taca but I'm through so that's all I care about. Player of the month has to.... Antonio Marin 4 goals and 4 assists in November for the Croat. Benfica continue to drop points so looks like it will be Porto who'll be my challenger this season. They have two games in hand now but of course I have the chance to push ahead of them midway through the month when I visit the Dragao. In terms of the National Team it was a big month. First up for me was a friendly with the Italians A disappointing loss but Embalo impressed when he came on scoring on his debut. A big win fro the French left me needing to win by 4 clear goals in Copenhagen Bras with his first international goal with 6 minutes left secured it for me Putting me through to the Nations League Finals on goal difference. Where the Italians will stand in my way of playing either Poland or Germany. That will of course be in June next year in between qualification for Deutschland 2024 I've been drawn into Group C with Estonia, Georgia, Northern Ireland and Turkey. A group I'm confident of winning,
lblanc
Season 5 December Well December has put me on the back front a 3-2 loss to Porto has put them ahead of me And with a game in hand. I'm still very confident though that I can turn it around (maybe those 2 goals may come in handy) The draw for the cups have all been nice I think I can get by AS Monaco handily enough Rio Ave in the semi finals of the League Cup with the potential of Porto or Maritimo in the final As for the Taca I'll admit that one could have been better Here is the January fixtures Of course the transfer window is open, tbh I don't think I really need anyone, a few may be sold though with Fabio Martins having become surplus and if I receive a €40m bid for Miguel Luis I'd be happy to let him go. There is one player who is interesting me, who I could get on a free transfer. He will be asking for massive wages though, the question is would he justify them Spoiler Should I bring him home???
lblanc
Player of the month btw Andre Silva My main man he continues to bang them in 3 goals during the month put him on 23 for the season 5 short of his tally of last season, and only 11 short of what Bas Dost hit for me two years ago. Can he beat it?
zlatanera
Absolutely make that signing. If its in any way possible, you sign him. Then get him on your coaching staff when he retires.
lblanc
Season 5 January Well the domestic treble dream is over after Braga beat me on penalties but I did beat Porto on penalties to win the League Cup In terms of the league Only Porto's better head 2 head record separates us, so the league title is still within my grasp. Before I round up the Transfer business here is my fixtures for February Transfers Out Mostly loans that Miguel Luis deal has €25M clause should he play 20 games. I made nice profit on both Mavropanos and Fabio Martins so off they went. IN First in was someone to replace the departing Mavro For €13.25m from Napoli Zinho Vanhuesden Spoiler Still only 23 he still has room to grow some already great stats Next in I was looking for someone to cover Marin on the left wing, no one really stood out until I checked the transfer list, returning to the club on loan until the end of the season from AS Monaco Raphinha Spoiler He had two great years with Monaco but fell down the pecking order in the 3rd, he'll add great cover for Marin when needed. Now for the big one, That's right in the summer returning to where it all started for him CR7!!!
lblanc
February Season 5 Very disappointing to drop points to Leixoes but happy with the 4-3 win away to Monaco in the Champions League Porto had dropped points at home to Guimaraes so overall no real change in the table, I'm still 3 points behind them. The month of March sees the second leg of the Monaco tie as well as the Lisbon Derby. Porto also play Benfica so I'll be hoping they can perhaps do me a favour there. Player of the month for January (Sorry forgot to mention) and February Diogo Bras 8 goals and 6 assists in the last two months he has become a superstar Of course the month of March shall see me start the Euro 2024 Qualifiers First up is Northern Ireland away followed by Estonia at home. There is still two weeks until I need to finalise my squad but the following is the most likely due to some suspensions and injuries.
lblanc
March Season 5 What a month goals galore, That Monaco game 6-4!!! It means I'm through to the quarter final of the Champions League And I drew Arsenal In the league as you can see I went through unbeaten and Benfica did me a big favour Meaning the league table is like this at the moment Breaking the 100 goal mark !!! (and still 7 games left) Player of the month with 9 goals at club level, Andre Silva He now has 41 goals this season and with at the least another 9 games (hopefully 12) who knows what he'll finish on. April fixtures There may of course be a Champions League Semi Final in there too. As for the national team I started the Euro 2024 Qualifiers in style Two big wins for me Next up for me is the Nations League Finals
lblanc
Just a small update, I beat Arsenal so I'm now through to the Semi Final of the Champions League Here is the draw Rivals vs Rivals in both ties
lblanc
Season 5 April Away goals to the rescue against Arsenal. As said above I drew Benfica in the Semi final a nice 2-1 win continues my great record against them Note 4 of the 16 wins were over 2 legs. In terms of the league my 100% record above and Porto dropping 4 points in April Means... Beat them and it's 5 in a row (I'm also hoping to score 9 more goals to break 100 GD) Player of the month Dani Olmo- the Croat has become the pivot of my attacking line and scored some vital goals during the month as well as setting up some of the chances which led to goals. lblanc
One more thing to highlight, here are the nominations for Player of the year and Young Player of the year Diogo Bras has to favorite for both IMO though Andre Silva will run him close for the main prize. lblanc
Season 5 May And the 5th season comes to an end. I'm going to break it down into League and Champions League LEAGUE So where I left off a win against Porto would see me win the league It was not to be but Marin scored late to ensure we avoided defeat Next up we had another chance to win it against Estoril and we did not disappoint 5 IN A ROW!!! Last up we had Nacional A great way to finish the season meaning the league finished like so +100 goal difference Now for the Champions League I left off with the away leg to Benfica to play, I had a 2-1 lead going into the game so knew I could make no mistakes and tbh neither team did A 0-0 draw seen us through to final for the second time in my 5 years at the club Where Liverpool would await me. Could I defy the odds and win the ultimate prize? In short "no" , I was given a good hammering. Despite this I'm still massively proud of the achievement to reach the final, hopefully next season could be my year. AWARDS Bras picks up the Player of the season as expected also young player of the season. Andre Silva scored 46 goals during the season a brilliant return, Braganca with 20 assists Risto certainly put his foot in for the club this season. Onto the 6th season now where we welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo But first up for me is the Nations League Finals Here is the squad I've picked Potential new cap for Rafa Pereira he impressed during the season for Porto so deserves his chance. I'll update on what happened in the Nations League in my Season 6 opener , where I will give an overview of what is sure to be a busy summer for me. lblanc
Nations League Before I go over the changes in my Sporting Team quick overview of the Nations League First up was the semi final against Italy Unfortunately the Italians proved too much for me in Extra Time and I'd have to settle for the 3rd/4th Place Where the Poles would await me after the Germans Put them to the sword As did I in the 3rd/4th Playoff, Andre Silva and Diogo Jota both scoring two Tiago Dantas scoring his first goal, with Rafa Pereira making a dream debut with his first goal, Bruno Fernandes completing the scoring. As for the Final The Germans couldn't make home advantage count with Italy winning the Nations League Crown.
lblanc
Season 6 Pre-Season So begins my 6th Season with Sporting. The aims for this year obviously look to continue my domestic dominance but the main aim is to go one step further in Europe and win the Champions League. Here is my Pre-Season Results A tour of South Korea was first up some great wins and a good trip hopefully for Merchandising Up next was the inaugural Aurélio Pereira Trophy, named in honour of the legendary scout. Unfortunately I'd just fall short on penalties to Inter but an great test. Two routine wins over Aston Villa and Standard followed before a final loss to RB Leipzig Up next for the first month The Supertaca and two more Friendlies with Hoffenheim and Milan before I start the league campaign. So now onto Transfers OUT Stefan Ristovski €10M to Atletico Madrid One I was a little sad to see go, but he wanted a new challenge with only a year left on his contract €10M was a good offer, he actually had a lot of admirers but chose to head to Spain. Best of luck to him. Dimitar Mitrovski €10M to Aston Villa The Macedonian attacking midfielder had spent the last 5 years out on loan, I was tempted to keep him but decided to field offers for him €10M was a good offer for him so off he went. Renan Riberio €12M to Inter Milan Another one I was sad to see go but like Risto he wanted a new challenge, his departure gives me the chance to blood in some of the keepers who had to spend the last few years on loan. Best of Luck to him too. Miguel Luis €25M to Lille One which was arranged should he play 20 games for Lille whilst on loan last term, he was a talent but never really pushed on, I will of course keep an eye on his progress hoping he can get gametime and improve. Domingos Duarte- €48 to Blackburn A move I thought too good to turn down . My captain for the last 3 seasons, he served the club with distinction, I wish him the best. Other Transfers and Loans Out Some of the above have clauses to buy, Xadas, Andre Sousa, Foyth for example. Others like Felix Correia, Duarte Valente, Marques and Plata go out for much needed game time which I can't promise 100%. IN Kevin Mbabu -€22m from Liverpool One from the transfer list, Kevin comes in after helping Liverpool triumph in the Champions League last year, At 28 he is at his peak great crossing ability and great pace, a welcome addition to the team and replacement for Risto. Spoiler Luca Pelligrini - €26M from Bologna The Italian wingback comes in to give Ayrton Lucas competition on the left back position only 24 he has some great stats (I believe he was a wonderkid starting off). 26m was his buyout clause which I was happy to pay Spoiler Diogo Leite €25M from Porto Whilst on international duty I noticed he had a €25M release fee and was surprised that he was interested to join me, after Domingos left I met the clause and brought him in from my title rivals. Only 24 so he has years ahead of him. Spoiler And now the big one, the one you've all been waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo -Free Transfer from Juventus That's right the main man Cristiano Ronaldo is back where it all began on a one year contract (with an option for another). At 38 his best years are behind him but he offers, a potential X factor when needed, stats wise he is still phenomenal , he may have lost his pace but those finishing stats. Spoiler There is one more player who will be coming in too, just waiting to confirm it, I shall post a full squad list in the August Update Edited August 12, 2019 by lblanc
lblanc
Season 6 August First month of the season down and another trophy in the Supertaca and an incredible start to the league season with 15 goals scored As i said there was one more signing waiting to be approved Welcome to Sporting KAIO JORGE One I'd tried for a few times but he was always looking for 100k a week wages. I seen him on transfer list (REQ) and had to go for him, thankfully he accepted lower wages this time. Spoiler He completes my squad for the season ahead. Here is my Champions League Squad List for the 2023/24 season The draw for the Champions League has been kind enough Player of the month Antonio Marin- the Croat has started the season in fine form with 4 goals Of course with Duarte leaving I needed a new captain, it may have been easy to just give it to Ronaldo like my assistant said but I wanted to reward one of my best players from last season so my new captain ..... Daniel Bragança and also rewarded for last terms brilliance my new vice captain Diogo Bras The league so far Schedule for September In September I continue with the Euro 2024 qualifiers with Georgia and Turkey my next opponents a few injuries to Domingos Duarte and Andre Silva , see a few changes And potentially some new caps, Diogo Querios of Porto comes in for Duarte and Diogo Cardoso from Vit. Guimaraes (on loan from Benfica) come in after starting the season well. You may also notice a new inclusion in the Goalkeeping department After being a Benfica for over 7 years Mile Svilar has gained Portuguese Citizenship and I was able to convince him to switch allegiance from Belgium. At only 24 he could battle it out with Diogo Costa now to see who will take over from Lopes.
lblanc
Season 6 September Still 100% in the league and banging in the goals, decent start to the Champions League but disappointing start in the League Cup Benfica look like they'll be my challengers this season Two Champions League games in October as well as two home games in the league and the 3rd round of the Taca to come. So two games in September for the National Team and two wins The Georgian game gave me a chance to throw on a few players in the last ten minutes, Milar Svilar making his debut as well as Diogo Cardoso and Diogo Queiros all coming on. Qualification could possibly be sown up in the next round of fixtures The only squad change sees Andre Silva come back into the squad ahead of Cardoso
SirToby
Excellent thread, lblanc Really enjoying a game with Sporting myself and I've just finished my fourth season. A short summary of my four seasons: 2018/19: 2nd in the league (21-10-3), Europa League 2nd KO Rnd, Taca runner-up 2019/20: League Champions (28-5-1), 4th in CL Group, League Cup runner-up 2020/21: League Champions (29-4-1), CL Quarter Final, Taca winner, League Cup winner 2021/22: League Champions (30-3-1), CL Quarter Final So pretty satisfied with my constant development in the league. Only defeat this season was against number 10, Marítimo. After a 5-2 win away to Benfica in the second round we never looked back, and Benfica had an awful season. Last season they got 87 points, this season only 55 and sixth place! My game is very much about getting young players for small money and selling them with huge profit. After four seasons Sporting is booming with money. Right now I've got ₤200 million to shop for. Players bought: 29 Value: ₤91m Players sold: 49 Value: ₤317m (highest: Nicolás Domínguez ₤47m, Germán Aguino (regen) ₤43m, Boubacar Kamara ₤30m, Achraf Hakimi ₤30m, Alfredo Morelos ₤21.5m) So, this is my squad. Managed to keep Bruno Fernandes and have him on a contract to 2026 but no doubt clubs will try again this summer. Same goes for Agustín Almendra, Idrissa Doumbia and Lisandro Martínez who will difficult to keep hold of. Lisandro Martínez has developed into an excellent ball-playing defender! Bruno, Doumbia, Baldé, Cabral, Raphinha, Rêgo, Acuña, Braganca and Wendel has been here all the way. Now for the fifth season and maybe I have to use some of my money to get closer to the Champions League trophy. There seem to be some way to biggest clubs still, although I beat Barcelona 5-0 in my third season. But I lost 5-9 on aggregate to Liverpool this season. SirToby
Season 2022/23 Once again we were superior in the league with only one defeat, this time in round 33 against Benfica. They managed to score three against us in the match, meaning we conceded 11 times all season. My keeper had 35 clean sheets in the 48 games he played. My three forwards had 65 goals between them in all competitions, while Wendel, Baldé and Brás also enjoyed lots of goals from midfield. This season was again very much about selling players. I sold players for nearly 300 million pounds and I expect more big sales this summer transfer window. I sold by best defender in Rêgo and Martínez but I just brought in some new exciting prospects. We were knockout by Monaco in the 1/8 finals of the Champions League, but we won both cups so I am now on seven cup trophies and four leagues. Overall sales is now on 749 millions pounds. And Cristiano Ronaldo is coming back to Sporting this summer! Edited August 26, 2019 by SirToby
SirToby
Season 23/24 Sixth season done - another championship and another disappointment in the Champions League. Finally, I managed to go the league season undefeated. We were behind Porto for most of the season, but they ran of out of steam. In the Champions League we lost out on away goals in the first knockout round after 0-0 in France and 1-1 in Portugal against Lyon. Cristiano had a fine season - his last as a player - with 21 goals. Brás was excellent on the wing and Acuña just continues to performe everytime. It was another extra ordinary season when it comes to sales. I could not say no to selling a 29 year old Bruno Fernandes for 70 million. 42 million for Raphinha was also more than fine. I did not start a single game for Inter this season. Liverpool's midfield is now made of two former Sporting players in Doumbia and Michael. I did not use a lot of money either, signing a Mexican and an Argentinian with lots of potentiel. SirToby
Season 2024/25 A fantastic season ended in an awful way. We were number one in the league from round one til round 33 but a defeat to Porto in the last round meant we lost out on another gold medal: It was our first defeat in 68 league matches. In the Champions League we finally did something. We beat Guardiola's Liverpool (the previous three seasons winners) in the first knockout round before Milan and Manchester United were swept aside. In the final PSG was too big a mouthful: My two young forwards Brigatti and Ricardo did wonderful with 54 goals, while Brás and Baldé still are going strong: Another season with big sales and I have got a feeling I will break the record for a player's sale this summer: So, I have now sold for more than a billion:

lblanc
Season 6 October Back with Sporting save for a bit Still going strong Absolutely banging in the goals this season (65 so far) Looks like again it will be Benfica chasing me down. Fixtures for November As for Portugal two games in October Northern Ireland and Estonia Two comfortable wins see me qualify for Germany 2024 Fixtures for November I'll obviously be looking to finish the campaign with a 100% record. I've also set up friendlies for March with Poland and Germany.
SirToby
Season 2025/26 My ninth season for Sporting turned out to be my best. I managed to bring back the league trophy to Estádio José Alvalade (after playing catch up with Benfica all season, winning on better goal difference) and I also won the Champions League! Real Madrid, Milan and Chelsea were beaten in the knockout phases before the final: Benfica just kept winning and winning and winning before eventually beginning to draw games: I sold my exceptional goalkeeper for 120 million at the start of the season to PSG - a record by far - and it was also my best window in terms of total value of sales: My two forwards had fantastic seasons again and Baldé's 23 assists was a record: Here is a screenshot of the season's by far best player, academy graduate António Ricardo: After using a 4-4-2 for most of my time at Sporting I tried a 3-4-1-2 for this season because I was losing many of my full backs and had a lot af good center backs. It was a succes.
lblanc
Season 6 November And my 100% record is gone but still undefeated I had been two down to Setubal and it was looking likely that I'd lose my first game of the season Ronaldo had other ideas scoring the equalizer late on It does mean Benfica can draw level with me if they win their game in hand which I expect them to though they don't play that until the end of the December so who knows what will happen between then and now As for my fixtures Some potentially tricky ties but I'm confident I can continue my goal scoring prowess. Of course the month of November seen me finish off qualification for Euro 2024 And another two great performances see me top the group with a 100% record The Turks also qualifying as one of the best placed 2nd place teams The Georgia game seen another international debut this time for Benfica midfielder Tiago Araujo. Next up as previously mentioned is two friendlies with Poland and Germany, which I think I may try to give game time to some of the fringe players. lblanc
Well Season 6 is over and what a way to finish it The 6th league title, Taca and league cup double, Supertaca and the one I coveted after reaching the final twice before it was 3rd time lucky And it was a dream way to win it On his final game before retiring the 39 year old Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to score the winner in Moscow Speaking after the game Ronaldo said "it was meant to be I think, I won my first Champions League title here while at Manchester United and I win my final title here too with my boyhood club, it is a dream come true" I have the little matter of the European Championships with the Portuguese National Team to finish off and then I think I'll be looking forward to FM20 who knows maybe I'll have another Sporting save.
