TerminalPortugal
OH THE SCENES!!! When Simeon Wilson decided to write his name into the annals of football history as he clinched a famous victory for the Mariners. CENTRAL COAST MARINERS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!! (in shaky Norweigan accent) Alex Ferguson, Cristiano Ronaldo, George Best, Duncan Edwards, Dennis Law, Eric Cantona, Dwight Yorke, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, David Beckham.........your boys took one HELL of a beating!!! TerminalPortugal
Another huge month in the history of the Mariners as we lifted the FIFA World Club Cup, beating Manchester United in the final. The league was also pretty tough this month. We started with a crunch game against Sydney, which we came through with flying colours and then made it even better as we came through what is always tough game against Melbourne Victory. The month ended with two wins that I would expect to get against the Phoenix and the Roar. Despite a congested month of fixtures, we are unaffected as we open up a 6 point lead on Melbourne City. TerminalPortugal
We are getting heavily linked with Vlazovski, he is unlikely to renew his contract at Melbourne City.

TerminalPortugal
We let another first teamer go in Francisco Padilla to Saudi side Al-Ettifaq. He had got into the Australian national side, but he is now 30 years old and we are continuing our policy especially considering the tight cap rules to promote inexpensive youth where possible. In the end the activated his release clause, probably because they were tired of me negotiation for a few extra shekels!
TerminalPortugal
The DoF brings in Padilla's replacement in 26 year old free transfer Simon Doyle previously of Western Sydney Wanderers. He looks a decent player and fortunately we are able to register him.
TerminalPortugal
We get the board to agree after some cajoling that we should improve youth recruitment.
TerminalPortugal
January is in the books and we started with a very bad loss to Perth Glory which worried me for a bit, but it seems it had the necessary impact on any complacency in the ranks as we started to humiliate the rest of the division with a 2-0 win over closest challengers Melbourne City, a destruction of WSW by 9-0, which got their manager sacked. A destruction of Newcastle in the derby and then another destruction of the other Melbourne club, 6-1. We look very dominant at the moment. We are now 8 points clear of Melbourne City. TerminalPortugal
The club wanted to extend my contract, but we still have a year left, and I don't really want to tie myself down for a long while, so we got them to invest in the youth facilities instead. They will thank me later.
TerminalPortugal
The Champions League draw has been finalised and we face Gamba Osaka of Japan, Jeonbuk of South Korea and Shanghai SIPG of China.

TerminalPortugal
Another great month as we win all but one game in the league and get our Champions League campaign defence off to a great start with a 3-1 home win over Gamba. Nine point now the lead and the league looks like its coming back to Gosford. Early days in the Champions League group, but we are leading after one game. TerminalPortugal
Another great month in the books for us. The only blip was an away loss to Melbourne City, however we had some great results this month too, destroying Shanghai, winning the derby against Newcastle away and smashing Melbourne Victory. There are 4 fixtures left for us and we are six points ahead of Melbourne City, whom have also had a great season. Wellington are still an abberation at the bottom of the league, still search for a win with four games left. We are well in control of our Champions League group, one more win will qualify us for the next round.
TerminalPortugal
That is a disappointing way for our young starlet to finish his season. He was on to be Player of the Season.
TerminalPortugal
A mid season slump in form was fixed by the end of the month as we won another A-League regular season. We take the title by 5 points in the end as Melbourne City ran me pretty close, we are way ahead of the chasing pack. Wellington did manage to pick up a solitary win this season, they keep sacking managers, not sure it's the manager that is the problem, but rather the standard of their players. We have already won our group with one game to play, another 5-0 and 6-0 win, have inflated our goal difference to silly proportions as we assert our dominance in Asia and attempt to go back to back in the Champions League. TerminalPortugal
The draw for the post season finals sees us up against Perth Glory. Perth have handed us two defeats this season both home and away so I am a little worried that they seem to have the formula to beat us. Hopefully we can dispel the hoodoo. TerminalPortugal
Japanese opposition in the 2nd Round of the Champions League as we face Urawa Red Diamonds. TerminalPortugal
No issues for us this time around against Perth Glory, as we smashed them 4-0 in the semi final to advance to the Grand Final.
TerminalPortugal
This was the final that every neutral wanted to see. The two best teams in Australia going up against one another with winner take all.
TerminalPortugal
The board want to extend my contract. I still have a year left, and so I don't really see a reason to extend, and it might extend my stay in Australia longer than I might want.
TerminalPortugal
The big one came along and we proved the better side as we took down Melbourne City by 3-1 in a game where we were much the better. It was nervy for the last 15 minutes with the game poised at 2-1, but a last gasp goal made it safe. A great achievement for the club to win the Regular Season and Grand Final two years in a row. TerminalPortugal
The Second Round of the Champions League was next and we headed over to Japan for the away leg against Urawa Red Diamonds, and we were brilliant as we completely dominated them and pretty much wrapped up the whole tie with a 3-0 win.
TerminalPortugal
We just had to make sure we kept things tight, and we did that. In the second half Simeon Wilson took a chance and that effectively ended any resistance from Urawa Red Diamonds. We win 1-0 on the night and 4-0 on aggregate as we move to the next round. This is the last game of the season as we will now break up for the season. So next up we will be looking at our air miles.

TerminalPortugal
Air Miles calculation time. We won an incredible 42 games this season. The equation is as follows:- 3 x 5.23 x 2 x 1 = 31.38 miles per win = 1,286.63 miles won this season. Added to the 2,328.12 that we already had in the kitty, gives us a new total of 3,614.75 miles range. The map now looks like this. As you can see that is quite a range now. A shame there are no team in Antarctica eh? Certainly there is far more of the team in Indonesia available. Half the Philippines are now in play as well as Brunei and Malaysia. A closer look for your to see where we now have covered. I think in terms of league additions we will add Malaysia and the Philippines. Brunei would seem to much of a step backwards for us to bother I think.
TerminalPortugal
it's a repeat of the Grand Final in the Champions League Quarter Final as we take on Melbourne City.
TerminalPortugal
The first round draw of the FFA Cup has occured and we draw Melbourne Victory NPL, the semi-pro team affiliated to the main side. They will not give us any trouble.
TerminalPortugal
I was never a fan of his and he wasn't getting much playing time and may not even get a work permit for a new contract, so we cash in on him to Huddersfield.

TerminalPortugal
The DoF has created a rather large problem for us this year, through his contract negotiations with players for us to be under the wage cap. McEvoy was an unknown when I arrived and has since picked up 13 caps for Australia, but last season he was mostly on the bench and he has a pretty decent salary so we sell him to league rivals Melbourne City. TerminalPortugal
**** me, the DoF keeps renewing contract for top dollar, when I am trying to organise a fire sale for the contract he has already lumbered me with. *******!!!! STOP IT!!

TerminalPortugal
I didn't want to have to do this, but we absolutely need to get rid of wages and I feel we have sufficient back ups at striker. He is the wrong side of 30 where as Wilson is the right side of 30, so he leaves the club. He will have a swansong in Europe, which is probably good for all parties concerned. TerminalPortugal
The Quarter Finals is when this competition starts, and for the third year running we draw Sydney FC. This time around it's a quarter final instead of the semi finals. It would be nice to finally knock them out for once.
TerminalPortugal
I was trying to offload this guy, but no one was coming in for him. He is a New Zealand international and he is not a bad player, but we need him gone. Next best thing was to most of his wages gone for a year to Wellington Phoenix.
TerminalPortugal
Youth intake is in and I think there is plenty of potential. We are not averse to getting these guys into the team quick. Parsons looks the standout guy, followed by Reis and Harris. Hanna potentially could also play a squad role. I think the rest are unlikely to make it. TerminalPortugal
Another good player exits the club, bound for the Midlands. With his departure, we may be in a position to now stick with what we have and have enough budget to register everyone we need.
TerminalPortugal
Acutally this guy still had to exit the club before we balance the books, this is actually not a good thing as his wages still count towards our totals until next season, so there may be another departure in the coming weeks.
TerminalPortugal
A tight affair in the Quarter final first leg between Melbourne City and ourselves, where neither team really risked much and neither side could find the net during the 90 mins. Hopefully it's not a sign that we are now missing Kavanagh's goals.
TerminalPortugal
Third time is a charm for us against Sydney as we take the FFA Cup quarter final 3-1, after first trailing and storming back to a deserved victory.
TerminalPortugal
In contrast to the first leg, we took the game to Melbourne City in an attacking performance, and the early goals settled any nerves. They had no response to us as we ran out comfortable 4-0 winners, to book our place in the semi finals.

TerminalPortugal
Superb signing from the DoF for once, this guy is still on a youth contract so I don't need to register him and he looks a real player. Brisbane Roar let him go, and I can only think it because they put him on a professional contract at some point and needed to cut him.

TerminalPortugal
He done it again, he gave another huge contract out.
