Not the best start to the season, firstly we played Ba in the Fijian equivalent of the Super Cup and were well beaten, then we managed to draw our first two games of the season. They are not losses, but this is a league where you have to win home games and beat the relegation candidates to have any chance of getting trophies or qualification berths.

Not great, although Nadi have started worse than we have.

Well it certainly took some time to find our scoring boots, as we found another 0-0 draw with Nadi (although a good result), we outplayed them badly. We then did get to winning ways against Tavua, before we swept our group pretty easily to top the Champions League Group D and qualify for the next round.

Our early season form has really cost us, still undefeated but too many draws means we are playing catch up now.

Confirmation that we top the group followed by Madang of PNG.

Well what a month, undefeated all month, as we sailed to Champions League final where we will face, surprise, surprise Ba. We beat Tefana 3-1 on aggregate and then battered Solomon Warriors 8-2 before we managed another 4 points in the league including a draw against Nadi. In the final against Ba we have been made the home team in a winner take all affair, to give us a fighting chance.

We are 2nd as Ba run away with the league.

After the huge high of winning the Champions League we were very indifferent and suffered a pretty awful Fiji Cup campaign as we toppled out of it.

I am unsure whether Champions League winner automatically get back in next year, so we need to keep pushing in the league.

June went well but July was a bit of a disaster as we lost all our games although two of those games were against the indomitable Ba. Not happy, but it is still definately possible for us to finish in 2nd spot.

The league table would tell you we should finish 2nd however Lautoka are the final game of the season away and they have a game in hand on us.

The season ends with an away win in the league in the league and then again in the bugged IDC, before lose away to Nadi for the final game of the season. A very memorable season as we became Champions of Oceania and will be back next season to defend our crown.

The final league table sees Ba crowned as champions as they produce a very dominant league performance, we narrowly finished ahead of Nadi by 3 points, at the other end of the table Vatukoula end up relegated on one point, it shows how hard it is for a team to come up from Division One and be competitive in this league.

Air miles calculation time.

We won 15 games this season all told.

The equation is as follows:-

3 x 2.03 x 2 x 1.03 (29 game season) = 12.62 miles per winning, giving 176.70 miles gained this season and added to our total of 651,43 gives a grand total of 828.13 air miles.

The map now looks like this as we press towards Australia and PNG. However we also have, just by the smallest of margins now touched another playable country in New Caledonia

This is the island of Mare, which is part of an archipelago belonging to New Caledonia, no idea whether there are any teams on this island we can play or even if I would want to move, but the rules have been fulfilled to load the league. So we will.

So we are removing Fiji Division One, since at this stage it is very unlikely we would ever go back down there again and we are adding New Caledonia, at first both the Top Division and the league below, until we assess it.

Here are the awards, we decided to release 9 players, that were not better than potential youth propects so that there is no barrier to first team opportunities in the team. I really want to continue to focus on youth here at Labasa as our best policy in combating Ba.

Pre-season completed and by and large pretty happy with the way things went. Only one goal conceded and that was a bit of freak goal anyway. Hope we are ready for the coming season, we have a younger squad (our squad was already very young) so I am interested to see what they do.

A perfect start to the season as we wrap up the first tournament of the year beating Ba in the Champ vs Champ, and a perfect start to the season to the season with two wins, albeit against the teams who are predicted to finish bottom of the league.

February was a great month for us as we managed to draw with Ba and beat Nadi, before destroying Auckland and Tafea in the Champions League to make it look like another Quarter Final berth at this stage of the competition.

We sit second behind Lautoka who have started very well. Ba are two points behind and really we could do with them slipping up a few times, knowing we still have to play them and Nadi away this season.

Two games and we are through to the next round of the Champions League. Auckland will Tafea in a winner take all tie.

Another great month with one minor blip, losing away to Suva, where often we do struggle. We beat Solomon Warriors 7-2 to really rub in our dominance in the Champions League group, and then 3 away fixtures in the league were managed nicely including an impressive win at Lautoka which has often caused us problems.

We are just past the halfway stage and we are 5 points clear, although we know still to come are Nadi and Ba away and they have games in hand. We have done brilliantly to be where we are, but we need to get some big results from now until the end of the season.

This year was about the Champions League, and we cruised past Lotoha'apai of Tonga 5-0 on aggregate to set up another couple of games against Auckland City. In the first leg we were all over them but just couldn't find the net. The second leg has much drama, we led the game late on and looked like we were cruising into another successive final when Auckland hit two quickfire goals with a couple of minutes until the 90. In injury time we took our chance and got the score to 3-3 to go through on away goals. In the other leg Ba had an easier time disposing of Team Wellington to set up for a second year running an all Fiji bout between us. Hopefully we get home advantage again this year.

No league games this month but this is what it looks like with Nadi and Ba breathing down our necks as we go into the final straight of the season.

Not this time as the Champions League final turns into a goal fest. We had a man sent off and it looked like we were done when they went 1 up, but we kept and coming back and led 4-3 in extra time, however they equalise 2 mins later and won it a minute from time. A hell of a game, but one we were on the wrong end of.

A pretty bad month for us as 5 players **** off to play international football and we left trying to hold things together. The Champions League final also probably didn't help morale. We could and perhaps should get through in the Cup as we play at home to Lautoka and the league is in the balance now.

The league is as tight as it gets, Ba win their remaining games they win the league. Nadi still have a real shot at this as well as we still need to play them away from home

Since the Battle of Giants is pointless apart from for air miles, this has to go down as a bad month as we lose convincingly to Nadi (a real bogey side for us) and now the league is pretty much gone and Champions League football is in real jeopardy now for next season.

763af78ae7a26d82000d7b16e851132b.png

Thats the league table. Ba should now go on and win it and worringly Nadi should now all things considered finish 2nd place.
