TerminalPortugal
Following on from my recent career I fancied another long career, but this time confined to Europe as last time around we spent most of our time in Oceania and Asia. Once again I have a few rules I will be following both in terms of where I am allowed to move and how I will be deciding what leagues are loaded within Europe. I am using a modified database so that potentially every country in Europe will have plenty of leagues to be managed in. There will not really be any direct goals to this career, beyond the usual win as many things as possible. Rules of the Career 1. When I am unemployed I must accept the first job I am offered, this will last throughout the whole career, so whatever club, no matter how low they play and how much reputation we may have at that point can get our services, they just have to be the first to offer us a job. The only exception to this are international jobs where if I choose to I can choose to not accept that role. 2. When unemployed I must apply for every single job that is available in the database, and answer the questions as best as possible at interview to get the job. 3. I am not allowed to be both manager of a club and an international manager at the same time. 4. Once I am in a job I am not allowed to be disloyal to the club and apply for vacant roles. I can however link myself to jobs in the press (not declare interest in job) if it arises. I can only resign whenever I want from my current club but will then be subject to unemployment rules as described already. 5. If I am headhunted and offered another job, I am free to move on to that club should I choose to. 6. My avatar must begin with minimum experience and no coaching badges as usual for my careers and must start the game unemployed. 7. For the first time in a while I will not be doing a DoF challenge. I must do all my own appointments and transfers. 8. Leagues are only allowed to be loaded based on the mechanics described below. 9. I must resign from a given club based on the "sabbatical tracker" mechanic described below. 10. I am allowed to reject a job despite the rules above if I have already managed there before. NB: I may not take a job if the club does not have a logo, just plays with my OCD too much, but since I have a huge logopack installed that should really not play much of a factor. Mechanics Core Leagues - The top divisions only in England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany will remain available for the whole game. These are the core leagues and can never be unloaded. I am also unable to add any divisions below the top divisions in these countries.Non Core Leagues - 5 leagues structures from 5 European countries will be loaded, the countries have been decided by a random number generator. Any of the remaining European countries that are not the core countries can be loaded. I must load the full structure that I have available, so if it goes down to Division 5 so be it. These countries are unloaded when they reach 100% attrition and a new country is randomly decided from the random number generatorAttrition - Every year at the end of the season there is a chance that the league will gain "attrition", this is basically how far along the track that country is from being replaced with a new country in the database. Once a country reach 100% attrition they are replace. Attrition will be calculated at the each season I complete. The calculation for attrition is every season there is 20% chance that a country gains attrition, and this attrition can be anywhere between 10% and 40%. As mentioned once attrition reaches 100% they are replaced.Non Core Leagues note - if a country has just attritioned out and they are selected again straight away, then we roll again until we get a new country. In the case where several countries attrition at the end of the season, the same applies we would need new countries to the tune of however many have attritioned. So if we have Scotland and it reaches 100% attrition, they cannot get back in on straightaway to replace themselves, but would be eligible any time in the future.Sabbatical Tracker - This a weird mechanic that will only be used if I am very successful at a club. To avoid a situation where I just stay put forever, once I have won the top division and a European competition, the sabbatical tracker kicks in. Every season once I have accomplished that feat from the end season of where the situation is true, the sabbatical tracker will gain between 1% and 25%. Once the cumulative reaches 100% I am forced to resign from my role and look for another job. I don't actually have to be out of the game for a year, but I am calling it that for the sake of having a name for it. Our Avatar for this game will be 20 year old Portuguese wannabe manager Valentim Silva. Hopefully he can work his way up the European ladder. The randomly chosen countries as follows:- I will be back once we know who the club is that we will be starting with.
scousevasey
Are the attrition and sabbatical values being calculated by random generators too? If there is a 20% chance of attrition per season, is this only going to be one nation getting attrition each season, or each having a roll of a 1:5 dice, meaning theoretically all five countries could gain attrition? Love the idea behind it, and the randomness it will provided

Love the idea behind it, and the randomness it will provided Yeah random number generator i.e. Excel rand() feature to work it out. So the attrition for each nation is seperate, all could be attritioned in a year or none. Each one has a 20% chance and and the attrition value is seperate. So all calculations are mutually exclusive. So technically you could say there is a cumulative 100% chance on average that one nation gets attritioned a year, although possible that it won't happen. So yeah more your second proposal. The sabbatical value is different in that once conditions are met it will definately increase, just the amount will vary. TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Russia Third Division - Yuzhno) Well I am little surprised, after about what seemed like one million interviews, the first club to get back to us was Alania Vladikavkaz, whom I have heard of before, if not knowing much about them. Vladikavkaz is pretty close to the Georgian border, in the south of European Russia. The city does pose some amazing scenes, with Mount Elbrus just a few hundred kilometers away. The Yunost Stadium in Vladikavkaz has a capacity of 3,000, and has seen better days but the surrounding scenery is pretty fantastic. The club were once Russian top division mainstays but they have had horrible drop down the leagues in the last few seasons. Our job will be to stop the slide and bring them back to where they belong. The clubs only honour is Russian Premier Division which they won in 1995 and were runners up in 1996. It definately looks like we have some serious quality at the club for this level of football, hopefully we can get the squad motivated and achieve promotion this season. Unfortunately a lot of these guys are not pinned down to a contract so we may end up losing a few of them in the coming weeks and months.
TerminalPortugal
Thankfully the board agree that it would help if I had coaching qualification, we embark on our first one.
TerminalPortugal
Bad news as we lose two of our best players to other Russian clubs. Unfortunately we are unable to get anyone under a real contract, so we are going to negotiate this as best we can.
TerminalPortugal
When searching around for signings, it was at first difficult as we really did not have much of a scouting network, something we have focussed on a brought a few guys into to help with. They identified young winger Khadjimurat Beriev as a potential future quality player for us, and I think he already offers us plenty for the first team. So I had no issues in negotiating a deal to bring him in. The club unfortunately does not really have an facilities to tie anyone down to a contract due to our semi-professional status. This kid will come good I reckon, either at Alania or elsewhere.
TerminalPortugal
Losing Buchev, meant we really needed to go out and get cover in the left back position or we were potentially going to be light there. Andrey Trubitsin looks like a decent enough player to cover there when we need him to, so I am pretty happy with that acquisition.
TerminalPortugal
A position we have been missing has been at defensive midfield, I like to play an anchor man so it was high on my agenda. Tigran Dzampaev fits the bill as a player we needed to bring in. We probably need to look at some cover for him as well.
TerminalPortugal
The odds for the season are out. It is a very small decision. I would say it is between Volgar-M, Rostov-2018, ourselves and Dinamo Makhachkala.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Pre-Season 2018) Preseason has gone very well for us. The game against Spartak Vladikavkaz caused me to look up the history of their side and ours. It would appear that Spartak are in fact the "real" Alania. However Alania were dissolved and when they tried to register the name Alania again, the Russian FA would not allow it due to the outstanding debts that the defunct club still had, so they had to change their name. Alania (us) appears to be a new entity that appears to have been set up from the bottom division but seems to have inherited the history of their namesake club. Spartak are in the 2nd division so that draw was very creditable. Elsewhere we had good wins this pre-season and things look positive for the coming season. TerminalPortugal
I said we needed a second defensive midfielder and Idar Kubalov is exactly that player, he is very close to the first team level. I normally do not like having a very big squad, but in this situation these players are not on fixed contracts, so we can let them go if we deem to be surplus to requirements as and when required. We may have to think about things more if we move up the divisions in the coming years.
TerminalPortugal
I felt we needed some more cover up front, but I wanted to find someone young who could grow into the role. Magomed Abdureshedov fits the bill perfectly, as the younbg striker becomes third choice striker at the club, or first backup.
TerminalPortugal
Silva's managerial debut is about to be upon us when we play Khasavyurt.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (July 2018) Our debut game could not have gone better as we went away to Khasavyurt and smashed them 8-1. This is a very short season so one loss can make a huge difference in a season and it is nice that we have started in the best possible way, by totally outclassing our opponents. Not much has happened in the league as yet, but our destruction of Khasavyurt puts us firmly top of the league after 1 game.
TerminalPortugal
We are very weak at goalkeeper, with none of the options at the club really inspiring much confidence, so being able to find a player like Ibrahim Shibilov to keep goal is a big improvement for us as we continue to add key pieces to the squad.
TerminalPortugal
We lose our best centre-back at the club Andrey Amelin to SKA Rostov, which is disappointing. I will need to assess whether we need to bring a replacement, and if we can bring in a replacement, what kind of quality we can get.
TerminalPortugal
On assessment of losing Amelin, there were not a lot of options at least based on what the scouts had been able to spot, but Zaur Shumakhov, is a good age and had decent ability now, and really we needed to get someone in. I am continuing to scour the local area of Russia for talent, but whether we find anyone worthwhile will be seen, hopefully the scouts spot some good guys we can improve the squad with.
TerminalPortugal
Our scouts come through and find Mikhail Reshetnyak, a 22 year old centre-back with bags of potential and realistically a top player at this level. Very happy to be able to bring him in and he should blend well with Shumakhov, who just joined.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (August 2018) Our only game of the month was an early month tie against Volgar-M, whom are favourites for the league, so I was very happy that we came through the game 2-0, showing that we are looking good this season. Dinamo Makhachkala are leading the league having played one more game than us on 7 points. If we win or draw our next game we should go back top of the league. TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (September 2018) September saw us lose our first game against at the time bottom of the table Rostov-2018, we did not deserve to lose but were extremely wasteful. Fortunately that was not a sign for a slump as we won the remaining games of the month, including a very nice win against Magas whom were in 2nd place going into the game. We sit top of the league on 12 points, with Dinamo three points behind us. It's reasonably tight, our goal difference is high but, head to head is used in the league sorting rules so that gives us no advantage. By the way the top spot only gives us a playoff berth for promotion, and there is only one berth for a shot a promotion so it really is make or break to reach top spot. TerminalPortugal
We get the National C Licence and the board agree for us to study for the National B Licence.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (October 2018) We have a very bad month all things considered. The draw against Dinamo was not bad per se, but it is an opportunity lost. Then we managed to somehow lost to Khasavyurt 3-2, when we beat them 8-1 in the first game of the season. Very disappointed with our results this month. I think everyone in the league apart from UOR Kaspiysk can feel they have a shot at getting top spot. We remain top but we need to improve quite drastically.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (November 2018) The final game before the best part of a six month winter break is a huge win for us against Volgar-M away. We are not playing that well but the result was all that mattered. We remain three points clear of Rostov-2018, whom have recovered superbly to second place. They have beaten us this season so they would go above us if equal on points I believe. It's a very long wait now, so hopefully when we come back we have ironed out some of the issues we are having defensively.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Youth Intake - Class of 2019) Definately a lot potential for us in the youth intake. Alexandr Nikulin is the player that really is worth getting excited for, he looks like he may already be close to being first team ready and he is only 15.
TerminalPortugal
We get our second badge, at the moment the club will not finance the next badge, so we will have to wait some time until we can ask again.

TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Winter Break Friendlies 2019) I decided to play a number of friendlies over the winter break in sub-zero weather. My view is better getting the odd injury than losing completely match fitness. Generally the effort was good as we played a mixture of local Russian and Georgian sides. The loss to Spartak-2 Nalchik was a little worrying, they are a league below us but looking at their squad they certainly have a lot of quality in their team. Let's hope that game has not rocked confidence too much, it was a friendly after all.

TerminalPortugal
We lose a very good youngster in Vladimir Gordeev to Volga Uljanovsk. He had already appeared three times for the first team this season in competitive fixtures, so disappointed to lose him. Over the winter break the clamour to get him from local clubs was consitent but he had always decided to stay, this time he decides to go.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (April 2019) We were ill disciplined and trash against Rostov-2018, in the only game of April. We are making this much harder on ourselves than it needs to be. It should still be in our hands, we have a game in hand on Rostov-2018 and Khasavyurt and have the same points, if we win our game in hand we will go three points clear of them. Surprised that Khasavyurt are where they are, I felt sure after the season opener they were going to have a horrible season, plus look at their goal difference, in 2nd place with a -8 goal difference. Very strange.
TerminalPortugal
Another kid with bags of potential in young striker Ivan Zenin decided to walk out on us for league rivals Magas, which is unfortunate.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (May 2019) We did exactly what we had to do, we were not at our best against UOR Kaspiysk, but they are rooted to the bottom of the table so we managed to find ways to score, ending up 4-2 winners. Then we came to crunch game against Magas, whom were in 3rd before the game and we did not really give them a kick as we battered them 6-1. The table is complicated, we are three points ahead of Rostov-2018, the only team who can catch us with a game remaining of the season. If it was goal difference that decided things in the league it would be over, but unfortunately for us it is head to head and they have beaten us twice this season, which means we need at least a draw from our last game away to Dinamo Makhachkala to guarantee the league title and a playoff berth. Rostov-2018 need us to lose and to win the last fixture to beat us on head to head. They have a reasonably tough tie against Magas away to negotiate. It's in our hand, we simply have to avoid choking at this stage.
TerminalPortugal
Well the top division has just ended and we have a very unlikely winner in FC Ufa who take the title by three points from Spartak Moscow.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Final League Game 2018/19 Season - June 2019) Very proud of the boys as we come through against Dinamo by 2-1, securing our title victory, in the end it did not matter what result we got in the game as Rostov-2018 lost at Magas anyway, but still very happy that we won the title our way, rather than relying on Magas to do us a favour. As can be seen by the final league table we win the league in the end rather comfortably by 5 points from surprise package Khasavyurt in 2nd place. Unfortunately the job is not over as we still need to get through the playoffs to be promoted, it would be sour taste to fall at that hurdle. ALANIA VLADIKAVKAZ WIN THE 3. DIVISION - YUZHNO!!! TerminalPortugal
In our promotion playoff final we play FC Nogliki, the qualifiers of the 3. Division Dal'niy Vostok They didn't actually win their division and are only here because Luch-2 are unable to be promoted as a C side to Luch-Energia Vladivostok. They seem to have lacked goals this season, although they have much shorter season, I still feel we should be able to get in amongst them. Hopefully we get a positive result our there and then bring them back to Vladikavkaz to finish the job, at least that is the plan.
TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Playoff Final First Leg vs Nogliki FC - June 2019) I felt we had the better of the them and I was very much right as we went out there and put them to the sword. In fairness they did have a man sent off in the second half which did not help their cause much, but we were already 2-0 up by then and we made sure we did not give them a sniff after that as we put the game and probably the tie to bed, winning 4-0 away. TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Playoff Final Second Leg - vs FC Nogliki - June 2019) EDIT: We suffered a crash just after this game due to a Nvidia display driver, so had to replay the second leg, this time we won 3-2 to win the playoff 7-2 on aggregate, it makes very little difference. ALANIA VLADIKAVKAZ ARE PROMOTED TO DIVISION 2!!!

TerminalPortugal
End of Season 2018/19 Career Summary League Changes Russia and Scotland suffered no attrition but Slovenia (36%), Serbia (22%) and Czech Republic (36%) all suffered attrition. Although at this stage still a long way before any of the leagues will be dropping away. NB: Not sure I have mentioned this but even if Russia were to reach 100% and we are still managing in it then it will be unloaded, it would mean that moment we leave Russia would be replaced by another country. TerminalPortugal
The board have now seen fit to allow us to send our scouts to the whole of Eastern Europe. TerminalPortugal
It is clear that if we are going to survive for the coming season we need to really improve our first team. So bringing in Azamat Merov at defensive midfield is a very big upgrade in our midfield, we manage to convince him to leave Spartak Nalchik and join up with us, which is a real coup. TerminalPortugal
As mentioned we are looking to get in the key players that are going to help us compete in this division and I think that Vyacheslav Semashkin will be extremely important to that. The 29 year old comes in from Rosich and will primarily be playing from the right wing spot.
TerminalPortugal
We were not weak and left back but Khalid Ismailov helps our cause a lot, because he has serious quality and serious potential and at 22 years old he should be around for a very long time for us. He comes in from Dinamo Makhachkala.

TerminalPortugal
The odds for the Russian Second Division - South are out and we are clearly favourties for relegation this season. TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (Pre-Season 2019) In terms of results, things could not really have gone much better as we win all our games, including favourites for the our league and local club Spartak Vladikavkaz, hopefully that is a good omen for the future and this coming season. TerminalPortugal
Alania Vladikavkaz (July 2019) With the announcement of the odds and the prediction that we were going to have very difficult season and the board also asking us to attempt to avoid relegation I was worried for us, but we have started the season superbly with two fantastic wins to defy our pre-season expectations of a relegation battle. Lets be serious for a minute it is going to be difficult and we are probably going to fall back down the table but for now this is a brilliant start from the boys. We sit top of the league equal on points with Spartak Vladikavkaz.
