We use a good sum of the Alpisch money to bring Justin Kluivert from Leicester City, he will be predominantly deployed in that left wing position, especially as Hirving Lozano is getting older so we need to give him some back up. The deal costs us £78m which was his minimum fee release clause.

We had a decent month, although the loss away to Hertha was pretty terrible for us, again we did not take chances we should be taking.

We still trail the teams around us by two games and are two points behind Borussia Monchengladbach, but we need to keep our wits about us and not let any more results slip.

I was worried about this game after the Hertha Berlin loss, but I may as well not have worried as we batter Koln into next week with an 8-1 win away in Cologne. Eggestein got himself a hat-trick in the process as we advance to the next round.

We go to the Etihad knowing we will need to score as we get a draw at home 1-1 against Manchester City in the Champions League. It could be quite hard to go there and get anything out of the game. We probably had the better of the game but again we didn't put chances away.

Borussia Dortmund (February 2027)

5c9ca9f01d8d00872b80ef2fb3725e14.png

Our form this month has been pretty good as only drop points at RB Leipzig in the league. The Champions League tie is finely poised, probably Man City would fancy themselves, but we just need to concentrate on getting a goal or two.

c39e6efb28e974edc418a25287a7171d.png

We are one point clear with two games in hand from Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich. Assuming we win our games in hand we will be 7 points clear.

Well our Champions League defense is over as we fall to Manchester City the first 1st Knockout Round. We did well in the first half but then got sucker punched twice and from their it was always going to be an uphill struggle, we did pull a late goal back via Paulinho to some fear into City fans and make the last few minutes interesting but they held on as we lost 2-1 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.

We are 6 points clear at the top of the table and still have a game in hand on both Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach. At the moment we look good value to retain the Bundesliga this season.

Borussia Dortmund (April 2027)

58790c1c707800430afe4dbfa2494839.png

It was an important month as we came into the run in for the Bundesliga and the semi final of the cup and we were absolutely excellent as a squad managing these fixtures brilliantly. Just before we played Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern Munich drew away at Bayer Leverkusen, meaning that a win against Gladbach would hand us the title and the 1-0 win proving enough to give us the title for the third season in a row.

cc8f5272942a1b96940e712ed622aeed.png

We top the table with 72 points and can no longer be caught with Bayern Munich 10 points behind us in the league.

A Diallo header was all that was required to bring home another DFB-Pokal as we won on the day 1-0 against a Wolfsburg side that offered little coming forward. We have now won the competition three times in a row which is fantastic achievement for the club.

Borussia Dortmund (May 2027)

f5a8cebc5844486a34f134476891288b.png

So we end another season as league and cup champions and May was another good month for us. With the league already sewn up receiving Bayern Munich meant little in terms of competition, but did mean a lot of pride, so beating them 5-1 in front of our fans meant a lot especially with the title having been won only two fixtures before. We did draw the derby against Schalke which was a little disappointing but at the end of the day we have been fantastic.

5f076ed97b3e7c6860f62b4d44982a44.png

We take the league title by 12 points from Bayern Munich, which is becoming a common sight in Germany as Bayern struggle to keep up with us. Darmstadt and Freiburg went down via automatic relegation. Eintracht Frankfurt still have a relegation playoff to contend to see if they can remain in the division.

Borussia Dortmund (Squad Overview 2027)

730060b9d4704457493eca35d189acbb.png

Fabrizio Alastra, came into the club as was made the number 1 keeper. He has been pretty good, and got over a 7 rating this season, which is generally my measure of success for a keeper. I may still look to improve on this position, but he was a good acquisition.

014aa0e78dade32ddb37738f500a2ec0.png

Michal Szczesny, I believe now is surplus to requirements, he has not played a single minute this season and to be honest we probably no longer need him at the club.

2631d6a1819c71e2e7c9372cbbe2037e.png

Martin Kolar, last seasons number 1 has been this seasons number 2. He has played sparingly. His value has gone right down but that is fine, the hype surrounding him has left. There is interest in him from Juventus so if they come in with a serious offer, we may allow him to leave and bring a suitable replacement.

97debc0cf7c4fd7bebb352769841311c.png

Abdou Diallo, the club captain has been brilliant this season in the left centre back role. He is 31 now, but we now have a system of monitoring the players and when they look like they are no longer going to be able to do a job for us. I think he definately has another season or two in him before he is done for us, and I am very happy to keep him going. He played less this season as we implemented a squad rotation in almost every position, but he produced fine displays when required.

2783221b2f8daff849c6aa06625105db.png

Tomas Cuello, is surplus to requirement, since we implemented the modelling in earnest, he has no longer been part of the plans as he really is deficient in a few attributes. I have transfer listed him so hopefully we can get a bit from a big club in Europe for his services.

c6da98e4e862c6f1f39bd745fc0376c7.png

Alvaro Odriozola, is just such a reliable full back, averaging a 7.41, he has been great, now also rotating in the squad he has rarely if ever let us down when required. He is now 31, so we will continue to monitor him and see where he may drop off. He has one year left on his deal and I would feel confident at the moment to give him an extension on his deal.

581475fd61e54552cd76c67ba3ad3657.png

Lucas Ribeiro, could not get into relegation battlers Frankfurt first team, but we saw the benefit he could add to our side, and he has done well, averaging 7.38 over the season and that includes lower values during his time at Frankfurt, he will continue to rotate in the right centre back spot.

5c735344297a89ef7faa305a7e2bfc9e.png

Ben Godfrey, came in from Crystal Palace, again where he was not playing much and he has played a little bit less than some of the others since his arrival in January but that is due to injury. When he has played he has done very well averaging 7.48 across his six games for us.

90e003fda5dead0948b565678066b74f.png

Boubacar Kamara, for me has been one of the signings of the summer. He was as stated at the time an understated one, he was no longer wanted at Sassuolo and only cost us £7.25m, but in 24 starts this season in all competitions he has produced top draw performances, averaging 7.40. He has earned my Trust and I am not afraid to put him in against the best attacks we face.

0ea3f569d74c5d8d02df21d393628c53.png

Enrique Clemente, last years buy from Real Zaragoza for £9m has doubled in value now in excess of £18m, and the reason for this is the great displays he puts on. This season has been injury hit, and it affected him. He averages 7.20, still very good but perhaps a bit lower than if he was fully fit all season. I am very happy for him to rotate with Diallo for the left centre back spot.

a6ff56ed066267a058eae4f7e7059901.png

Turgut Ekinci came up this season from Dortmund II, he is not the quality we need and will be leaving this summer.

c75131927ba7875833c83aa8f2088a04.png

Owen Wijndal has now rotated much this season, this is because I really do not trust Daniel Osei, despite the fact that he is so highly rated, so he has played most games this season at left back and he has been nothing short of phenomenal this season, averaging 7.53 in his first season at the club. His value has risen to £30m and he is coveted by some very big European clubs including Lyon, Paris St Germain and Tottenham. A season ago he was playing poorly in a poor Schalke team.

112e6c35f2ccf121f79b2717c5f465dd.png

Ronael Pierre-Gabriel, his partner in crime in the right full back spot. Purchased from Zenit for just over £15m, he has come and been absolutely outstanding, since we do trust Adriozola he has played a bit less, getting 32 starts this season in all competition. He has averaged 7.60 which is approaching player of the season territory in a normal side. He has been a great acquisition, his value has gone up as well to £23m and Monaco are chasing to purchase him.

3795788aca282892a0c51e85f8ea4fdb.png

Daniel Osei, was the man last season, but we had seen through the press and the price tag on his head and his international caps and really felt he was a little bit one dimensional, so his game time has been very limited this season almost to the point of non-existant. I think he will be leaving this summer with RB Leipzig interested I would not mind selling him at this stage and replacing him with someone to challenge Wijndal on the left.

710fa31b417889c4d92aaaf399fdd305.png

Claudio Gomes has been a great buy since we got him from Man City for £20m. His value is now up to £51m showing how much he has come on. His rating is only 7.11, but his rating will always suffer because of the kind of role he is having to play in the DMC, where it is the ugly part of the game that he is responsible for providing for this side. He has done that brilliantly and we miss him when he is not around, as Plachy is good in DMC role, but he is better at MC.

daf08e8efa86d2edc485c33cf40ad818.png

Teddy Lemarie, the Frenchman has developed into a true world class midfielder. He is definately suited to the MC spot, not ideal according to the model its close enough. He has had a good season averaging 7.35, playing 33 starts as he rotates with Plachy for playing time. He is a great little player and we plan to keep him here long term if we can.

0ae37b9681f874b39b7f99db32f769b9.png

Patrik Plachy is still only 20 years old, showing how young he was when we bought him for just over £6m from Sparta Prague. He is turning into quite possibly one of the best Czech players since Pavel Nedved. He started 29 games and averaged 7.10 which is decent, but actually it has not been his best season. He will continue to improve and I am very happy to continue the rotation between Plachy and Lemaire. Plachy did play a fair bit at DMC, so potentially that is another explanation as to his lower rating as when Gomes is unavailable he fills in the DMC role where notoriously it easy to get lower ratings due to the position being a bit of an ugly role.

70b73a769b45a55c5e024b615a8533a8.png

Thomas Grosse, well I said last time around that he may be the best player in the world at the moment, and I guess when he won the Balon d'Or he proved me right on that one. Grosse is and absolutely sublime footballer, the model actually does not fancy him too much in some of his attributes, but the model doesn't matter when you play as well as him. He still played 44 games this season and provided 33 assists and scored 8 goals, just insane records, but now with the acquisitions we have made, we are less reliant on him every game to provide. He average a 7.89 this season which is just fantastic.

c1c8621a501393e50bed35c74165c494.png

Paulinho has come on leaps and bounds since we bought him from Bayer Leverkusen for £48m. This season he scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists as he played on the wing and up front. He is the perfect player to fill in the gaps when we need him and is a brilliant first team player in his own right. His value has sky rocketted to £64m. He averaged 7.28 this season.

611b19a085d0f02847d4e9fae88a4bcb.png

Justin Kluivert, the new acquisition from Leicester City for £78m, he is expensive but he is quality. He hit the ground running straight away and provided some very memorable performances. Injury cut his season short, but we sill got 15 starts out of him last season and he averaged 7.68.

2da5bdba76c3a05e337ba9fba8a20ebc.png

Hirving Lozano, this man is an absolute legend. He broke all kind of average records this season when he averaged 8.05, he scored 29 goals and provided 25 assists. He is an unbelievable player, and he didn't even play every game this season due to our rotation policy. He has been an inspiration this season. He is now 31 years old, but he has quit international football and we have brought in the support act around him. We will monitor him but he is most certainly getting an extension this season.

af703fdf1344cdb84a5190f353dfb846.png

Johannes Eggestein, operated up front in the left striker spot of the two most of the season, he has a great goalscoring run this year, getting 32 goals in 34 starts. He really stepped up when Martin Alpisch was sold to Manchester United and has become one of the main guys up front, I trust him implicitly and he can provide so much to the team. He averaged 7.51 to cap a great year for him.

6ff8183e46b089de51a1e19bca60a33b.png

Davide Merola, came in for £30m from Frosinone in the fall out of the Alpisch deal. He has been very good for us in his short career here getting 8 goals in just 12 starts and averaging 7.29. He will get plenty of game time for the right striker spot with Freijeiros so I am sure he will become integral to the team.

6e0e4d310ec64b5b1e0316f44b48ce89.png

Iago Freijeiro, came in from Valencia for just over £19m and was a bit of a risk, but not anymore with a return of 22 goals from 35 starts and a rating of 7.39, he has earned my respect and I know I can rely on him when I pick him. His value has skyrocketted to just shy of £40m and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in him.

So to cover the players that are in the first team squad but are out on loan I think I will leave their screenshots and just give a short update

Hickel - Looking like I will probably sell him, just won't become a ball player centre back

Evans - Keep, had a great season at Wolfsburg, probably back out on loan again (possibly keep and try and work on the areas he is deficient in)

Furthaler - Sell

Moreno - Keep, back on loan

Rodriguez - Very close to first team, give him pre-season and make a decision then as to whether he needs to go back on loan or he is close enough now.

Besold - Already leaving and joining Hamburg as part of his loan agreeement clauses.

Romania, Scotland and Hungary suffered attrition putting them on 35%, 55% and 17% respectively. Serbia and Latvia suffered no attrition. As the maximum attrition is 40% in any one season all these countries are safe at least for two seasons from being replaced.

Sabbatical Tracker

d422bd97639aede7a32ce4ef67536d01.png

The sabbatical tracker moved to 28%. Remember once it reach 100% we will have to resign our manager's position at Borussia Dortmund, then while unemployed apply for all position available and take this first job offered. But at 28% we are still a way off. The maximum the tracker can go up is by 25% in any one season.

A great read I do love a good journey man save. But with the attrition thing and the fact you're winning at Dortmund, along with how high rep you and Dortmund probably are, surely you're not going to manage in any of the non core leagues? No disrespect to those leagues, I usually have Serbia loaded myself but realistically only Red Star and Partizan are going to be worth managing?

I think I mentioned above once the sabbatical trackers hits 100%, I will have to resign and apply for every job available, then I am forced to take the first job I get. So in theory I could end up managing in the 6th tier of Scotland as long as one of those teams offers me the job first. So there is plenty of reason to keep those leagues running as I might end up there next. Now possibly I may not be there long as a team might come in for me on the basis of my reputation, but I would give any team a season at least before I moved.

Also in this save I can't apply for job I have to be offered them, so it is not like I could take a job and then just apply for a role at the next big club, they have to offer me the role.

We start our business off early in the pre-season with the pre-agreed capture of Sebastian Caseres from Getafe. He fits the model for a right footed striker and at £10m, that is a snip. We can only get him that cheap because Getafe got relegated otherwise it was going to cost us more in the region of £25m. He is only 18 year old so will continue to get better and better, I predict huge things from the Argentinian.

Chris Evans is not yet ready for the first team, but he is also unlikely to be happy not playing so we hope he can improve playing for Paris Saint Germain, there should be no reason why he cannot improve where he needs to and comes back a better player that fits our model.

Martin Kolar leaves the club for £10m to Borussia Monchengladbach. He was one of our first signings, before we implemented the model and did decent for us and is very highly rated, it seems a waste to have him just sitting around on the bench so we let him go.

Asier Moreno goes on loan to Real Betis. We got a lot of offer to take the young centre back, but Real Betis and Real Socieded were the best options, whom were going to give him first team football and have good training facilities where hopefully he can kick on. They are also expected to do better than some of the other Spanish clubs that bid for him, so hopefully he goes away and is a closer fit to the model.

Paulinho was a very good player for us and fit the model well if not perfectly, we bought him for £48m, so when Bayern Munich are offering £87m, it is probably a good time to sell him. I think we can replace him without to many issues, if I feel I need.

Our Paulinho replacement is Benfica starlet Joao Junior purchased for his minimum fee release fee of £49.5m. He will be rotating in the left striker spot. He is right footed but we play the strikers on opposite sides, so him Eggestein and new signing Caseres will rotate for that spot.

Pre-season has gone very well, we purposely set up friendlies against some of the best teams in Europe, we have performed magnificently. Some of the highlights include a 6-1 over Gremio, 6-0 win over Leicester, 4-1 over Benfica, 6-0 over Juventus, 6-0 win over Villarreal, 4-0 over Porto and a 5-0 win over Real Madrid, as we terrify Europe with our very early season performances.

Penalties were require to settle the Supercup and we were perfect from the spot and ex-player Paulinho was not which was probably a bit of a let down for him. We were actually not at our best this game, it's always difficult to come to Bayern and play your best football, but we got an equaliser to their early goal and found a way through eventually on pens. The first silverware of the season is in the bag.

That is a lot of friendlies! Some great results though and hopefully push for another big season!

Do you always tend to play a lot of friendlies?  I usually go 5-6, sometimes less!

Yeah, I tend to play quite a lot of friendlies in the pre-season, I now have a team which I can completely rotate without feeling like I am losing something so the players probably get 5 or so games each anyway.

Just now, Carambau said:

Maybe time to move on?

Thanks! Unfortunately I cannot apply for any jobs of my own accord while at Dortmund, no offers have come in for me, so my only option would be to resign, which would be scary because I would have to take the first job I am offered. That will happen anyway once the sabbatical trackers gets to 100% anyway. I don't think I will be moving unless a club comes in for me, or until such time as the ST reaches 100%.
