Player attributes to prioritise? (Haven't played in 10+ years)

Returning to FM after over 10 years and just wondering if there are certain player attributes to prioritise when picking or building a team? For example, I have found in recent FIFA releases that a team of speed merchants is a lot less effective than a team of physically strong players. Are there any similar biases in FM where there are one or two types of player that will consistently have a distinct advantage over others? Or is it balanced enough to the point that once you have the right kind of player for your preferred tactic, you'll be fine?

Basically, any tips or dos and don'ts re: player attributes, characteristics etc. would be welcome because I haven't played in so long!

Consistency, Pressure, Determination.  (That's subjective btw, others will probably have their own "must haves").

After that you can tailor things to your style of play and the roles you want to employ.

absolutely these.  Then you can start to "cherry pick" the ones with matching mental/physical attributes for the way you want to play.
