Goretzka
Just finished my first season. Here is my schedule: After mid December, something happened to my team and I started to winning almost all games until mid March. That helped me to climb up to the UCL spot. Here's what I achieved in my first season. I was clearly better team than Lazio, yet we fail to win the game. I also outplayed Leicester in the FA Cup semi final, yet I lost it. Here is my first season transfers: Player profiles: My second season's transfers are Leroy Sane (City transfer listed him for 63m €) and Merih Demiral from Juventus so far. To repeat a phrase often said about our squad in real life a Europa League squad on Champions League wages. Now finally a champions League team for the future now! Spending over £3.4m p/w on playing staff salaries, with expected annual salaries to be £282m, with a profection to squeeze out a £23m profit over the season - that £7.3m in loan fees looks astute now. Perhaps a sale of a squad player in January or futher loans could leave us on a surer footing! Beginning the 2022/23 season, with a profit of £60.5m in the summer window. We shipped out a number of players who were clearly surplus to requirements. Weekly wage have increased to £3.6m per week, 5th highest in the league. Yearly wages costs to be projected to be £304m, a £22m jump from the previous seasons projections
BrickCommo23
Season 5 - another close one. I keep expecting West Ham to drop off but they're not doing - and they're still managed by Pellegrini. As for the rest, none of them improve much attribute wise but they do perform well on the pitch though none of them are starters in my best 11 at the moment. The Solman
Right I have been waiting to do this and after 3 seasons I am going to give my epic Arsenal story on FM2020 2019/20 Season First things first I had to settle on a system, I had a year of FM as I am doing an MSc but I started getting that itch and had an Idea of a system before I'd even got the game. In FM18 I found reasonable success with a 4-2-3-1 but my main issue with the system was the reliance on the as the no.10 being the clear creative outlet and like Emery I wasn't too sure I'd be relying on Özil full time. Also with the emergence of Liverpool's style of play I wanted a 4-3-3 so I had one midfielder as and anchor and the other two as no.8/10s. I leaned heavily on this formation set up below. https://fm-base.co.uk/resources/bjt-%E2%80%93-433-liverpool-101-points-all-cups-klopp-pep-jose-inspired.74/ However I soon realised that I replicating it like for like was not going to gift me good results. I made minor adjustments her and there. I converted Auba into a IF and Laca into a DLF. I played around with my centreback roles with Luiz on BPD and Sokratis as either CD or NNCB. Originally I had the two fullbacks on the WB role and was flicking between support and attack to find a balance. Midfield was a bit easier in terms of Torriera was my first choice as the anchor in a DLP-D or DM -D in most cases. With Guendouzi in the BBM, Özil or Ceballos in the AP/Mezzala role. Pépe on the right as an IF. My preferable starting XI tended to be as follows. The highlight of that first season was a 3-0 win against City away from home, what I seemed to find on this and FM2018 is that against teams that were a lot more capable playing cautiously, I seem to equip myself very well. I am generally quite anal about transfers so I turned of the first window and the only player I signed in January 2020 was Simon Asta from Ausburg for £9m as back up for Bellerin although Maitland Niles was solid. I finished the seasons 2nd behind City nipping to overtake Liverpool. Aubamayang was top goalscorer with 24 goals, followed by Lacazette with 12 and Pépe with 11. I also won the FA cup and crucially had I not lost Pèpe to injury the season may have heralded more success in Europe and the League. The youngsters chipped in with goals and out of all the bunch it was Saka and Emile Smith Rowe who were looking most promising. The Solman
2020/2021 Season My first proper wade into the transfer market, I couldn't sign Ceballos permanently so doing my due diligence I scouted Dani Olmo who was at Dinamo Zagreb at the time. I also needed a commanding centerback with good leadership qualities so having looked at Upamacano and others I settled on Ruban Dias from Benfica. I eyed up Jude Bellingham and he was too much of a gamble to let go to a rival and I signed a youngster I had scouted by the name of Marco Kana from Anderlecht as a back up and heir to Torrieria. I also signed Bruno Guimarāes but he did not set the world alight. Although he'd been fairly decent Luiz went out on loan along with Mustafi and they both eventually left. Mhikhitaryan was also sent packing. I found a mental newgen from Japan called Daisuke Yamasaki(As of yet I have not given him a first team opportunity but you'll understand why). In this season up front I struggled to get consistency Lacazette was top goal scorer with 15 goals, I won the league cup stuffing Spurs in the final 4-1, reached the FA Cup quarters, finished 3rd in the league and more impressively the CL Semi's eventually losing to Real Madrid. The highlights of that season were a 7-2 Win against Everton but more impressively in the CL having lost at home 2-0 to PSG, I went to Paris and won 3-1. Again the youth generation were starting to show there true potential with Saka often starting both LW as W-A and RW as IF-A proving to be the pick of the bunch followed by Emile Smith Rowe rotating with Olmo and Wilock and Maitland Nile contributing very positively. The Solman
2021/2022 Season I could feel I was on the cusp of something great and hinted as much in the pre-season team talk and the players were having none of it. Normally I am not one to just buy but there were two players i'd been following closely and when other clubs starting making their moves, I had to make mine. Kristoffer Ajer for £22m and Eduardo Camavinga for £55m, these two players became the bedrock of my team. Olmo now in his second season was one of the first names on the team sheet. My preferred XI(Bar ESR) By this time Torrieira had developed into a world class midfielder, Olmo was voted PFA player of the year, the press player of the year and young player of the year. This year I tinkered with the FBs changing them to FB-A which saw them both weigh in with a few goals and assists. Aubameyang had an Indian summer in the twilight of his career finishing with 22 goals across all comps. More importantly I was crowned champions to be honest the players stuttered over the line when I should of cantered after I hit bad form at the tail end. I was scoring goals for fun but unfortunately ended up with two unhappy players in Holding and AMN. I sold Holding reluctantly and still waiting for a buyer with AMN. Earlier in the season I thought I might of created history, I won the League Cup beating Spurs again! I reached the Semi's of the FA cup and got to the CL final where I lost 1-0 to PSG. Highlights of that season were a 12 game unbeaten run in the League over 3 months, winning 15 games in a row, going 20 games unbeaten overall, winning against Real and Atletico on route to the Semi's before winning on away goals against Juve. For my fourth season my main goal is CL glory and the signing I am hoping will add to that is Fedor Chalov.

For some reason I was scoring for fun that season. I hope it repeats. Chalov is from CSKA Moscow but went to Real and I wanted a player that has good movement and plays naturally as a DLF. Swills417
Just entered the winter break of 2022, for the Qatar world cup. Straight to be in November and my next game not being for 38 days. I would say something has definitely clicked in my team. We are the top scorers in the league after 13 games, with 34 goals. We have only lost once and only 3 other teams have conceded less than us. However, we have drawn 5 games already. Admittedly they are impressive away draws to top 4 and title rivals (Liverpool, Manchester United, Wolves, Manchester City and a punchy Norwich side). We have a to blow teams away and are showing a real attacking potency. In the results below, we've played out a 10-1 win and a 6-2 over Chelsea and winning games by comfortable margins. I have stuck to the 4-2-3-1 deep with dual SV's that I've been using since the saves start. Saliba has established himself as our leading defender, PSG and Monaco are now sniffing around his £82m release clause. Saka is being trained in the full-back role, similar to real life. Vinicious Junior was loaned in to provide more attacking impetuous from the left flank. Emre Can and Guendouzi are considered world-class in their positions and Matteo has been contributing more and more with his goal scoring. Ozil, despite being 34 only rated 2 1/2 stars, is enjoying his most impressive start to a campaign. As I look through his attributes, he is on his way to becoming a pure playmaker. He has 19 in below attributes, with 16 also for decisions. If we can protect his Balance, and feed his technicals and mentals with a few points from his pace or strength we could be onto one of the most pure players on the game. First Touch Passing Technique Anticipation Composure Flair Off the Ball Vision He is still putting up good assist numbers, never topping the charts in the league or champions league for key passes, chances created or assists. But he just seems to do each of these solidly. Schick has been the leading offensive force, only trailing in the race for the golden boot to Chelsea's Lautaro Martinez. Pepe, new signing Gabriel Jesus and Vinicious Junior have all chipped in with a number of goals also. Central midfield have also been hitting the back of the net on the regular with 20% of our goals coming from central midfield players. Those who are eagle eyed will also note, our cup goalkeeper has also chipped in with 4 goals and an assist. Swills417
Also, the Arsenal way of playing is well and truly dead we are averaging only 39% possession per game. Top in goals scored, top in goals from corners, highest cross completion, top in chances created. Guendouzi and V. Junior seem both hell bent to accumulate the most yellow cards in a season.

Wow I looked at Schick but his low determination put me off. I tend to dominate possession but my efficiency even though I score goals maybe isn't as good as it should be. Who's Ewerton? I might have to sell Guendouzi as he is unhappy. For me in my 4-3-3 Torrieira is world class, Guenzouzi is there but Camavinga was too much of an opportunity to turn down. Goretzka
Finished my 3rd season. In my first season I lost in the Europa League final against Lazio. In my second season, I won the FA cup; but Liverpool defeated me in the Champions League Final. In the beginning of the 3rd season, I won the Community Shield. 1st season: 2nd season: 3rd season: Transfer history: 1st season: 2nd season: 3rd season: My formation: Erling Haaland is absolutely a beast: And my other important players: Kieran Tierney likes to get injured. I was really sick of this so I bought Grimaldo and he's been a good player. And I want to count on Reiss Nelson but he gets injured sometimes also. Pepe is inconsistent player. I invested some good young players. My highly rated young players are these two: Not winning the league or UCL it keeps me motivated actually Yet I frustrated sometime.
BrickCommo23
Hi folks, It's probably the lockdown fever but I've enjoyed reading everyone's updates - particularly @SortitoutsiVP and @The Solman so I figured I would do one of my own. Hopefully, if nothing else, it passes a few minutes for everyone! History Lesson I've just finished the 2023/24 season and for some reason it's been one of my most enjoyable ever saves. I think it's probably the repeated heartbreak in the league! But, it all started so well back in 2020: We also won the League Cup but came up short in the Europa League and got very soundly beaten in the final by Lazio. 2020/21 Liverpool - my nemesis... We also retained the League Cup. 2021/22 Liverpool - again. On the final day, again. But, on the brighter side we did have this night two weeks later: 2022/23 For the love of God.... But again, Europe was a great adventure: 2023/24 I felt as though we needed to do something to score more goals - give up some of our defensive solidity and aim to match Liverpool's goal scoring, enter: And this is the table at the end of the season: We also had this in the FA Cup: That left a third successive Champions League final - this time against PSG at the Nou Camp: That Neymar goal was absolutely ridiculous - he ran from 10 yards outside my box and straight through three defenders. After that, they didn't have a single highlight but we couldn't hit a barn door. A treble just missed! Overall though, glad to finally settle the league title hoodoo! I'll do another post in a bit with players and incoming newgens...

Barcelona is sniffing around Guendouzi now, so might have to start preparing for life after the long haired maestro. Also, out of curiosity - does Guendouzi appear with short hair on anyone elses match engine? Jarring to expect a Edgar David-esque figure but you get a typical blank character in the engine. Austria, Algeria and Angola being the surprise packages of the tournament. Domestically, we are still in the title race. We are scoring for fun in most games, and keeping a tight ship at the back. BrickCommo23
This is so random but how could you not take this opportunity? Clearly, it really should be hard coded that Barcelona or Newell's give him a job the second he retires. Although - perhaps they have also seen his stats?? Swills417
Approaching the final month of the season, the World Cup has really messed up scheduling with 9 games in April. This has also co-inciding with a big downturn in form. Just as we get the below in the inbox, our players forgot how to be footballers and go and join the circus. Lots of mistakes and point black misses have crept into our game. Manchester United look to make the most of the points ga they have earned and can win the title if Liverpool drop points anywhere. I've began plans for the next season, signing the below players the strengthen. Manchester United and Liverpool have been much stronger than us and have immense depth. We have a strong first eleven, when we were flying. However, the dip in ability between first choice and backups is quite a gulf. The generation of Reiss Nelsen, Smith-Rowe and Maitland Niles has failed thus far to produce a consistent starting eleven type player. I might even move away from the 4-2-3-1 Deep DMs, towards a tactic that enables us to control games more and rely less on counter attacks, Schick's aerial prowess or the genius and vision of Ozil.

Swills417
Finished 3rd in the league, trophy-less again. Silent Stan drags me into the Boardroom to hash to my future. Fortunately, he seems to be happy with 10 points from the first 5 games next season so my job is safe for now. As previously mentioned, Manchester United and Liverpool under Simeone and Klopp are formidable. Not a single weak link in their squads. Tottenham squeezed into 4th ahead of Manchester City with a final day win. Manchester City and Chelsea should have the squads to challenge the top two but massively under performed this season. There jobs could be on the line. Leicester, who finished 7th have a tycoon, could also be pushing for top 4 next season. Liverpool and City will play out the Champions League final, FA Cup will was won by Tottenham against City. Having won the Carabou cup already, Guardiola could have won a cup treble and still be sacked. Newcastle, Brentford and Southampton were relegated. Birmingham and Bristol City bouce straight back up to the Premier League to be joined by either Sheffiled United or tycoon owned Stoke. In terms of player performances. Schick was joint top scorer with 25 and Ozil top of the assists with 15. Although Lautaro Martinez will earn the award by virtue of playing less games (and scoring 11 of 12 penalties ). Ozil pips Salah to the top playmaker award by the same rule. Ozil was also second highest creator of chances in the league, with Bellerin, Pepe and Schick also present in this top 20. The Czech striker also had the most shots in the league and most key header. The corner routine of Ozil putting in a cross to the near post for Schick to header is obvious here. Anyone know if you can check somewhere to see how many of those were headed goals? Curiously, V. Junior and Pepe also covered the most ground each per 90 minutes. I assume from their positions of relatively deep and carrying the ball forward with their dribbling ability. Checking trhough our squad analysis, we mainly faced 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 DM formations and fared slightly better against the double pivot as opposed to teams with the DM, who I presume mark Ozil out the game easier. This leads me with a predicament - commit to Ozil as the enigmatic enganche or change shape and approach completely? Around the World - PSG won Ligue 1 at a canter again, losing only one game. Mourinho having really upped the ante domestically in France nearing perfection every season. Bayern Munich were the usual winners of Budesliga and Serie A was won on the final day by Napoli, and Barcelona pipped Athletico Madrid to the title in a final game decided at the Bernabau with Real holding their rivals to a draw while Barcelona leapfrogged them to first place. Goretzka
My 5th season ends. Losing against ten men Man City at home from 1-0 up cost me the league title. Haaland's record: Overview of the fifth season: Top moment of the season. We had been waiting this for so long:
