Swills417
Moving into another season. Took a new approach to preseason and built a new tactic based upon the 2002 Brazil side than won the world cup. The 2002 side, made use of two of the best wing-backs to ever play the game, alongside the formidable attacking trident of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo. Build upon a solid base of Gilberto Silva and Kleberson. I read how Juninho was originally going to be deployed instead of Gilberto Silva but the defensive midfielder was chosen the rest is history. What I noticed from this tactic is that the bulk of our chance creation results from overlapping and aggresive attacking play from our fullbacks, quite order crossing to each other either side of the flanks. I'm expecting a lot of goals and assists from these types of positions this season. Hoping for similar output as the seasons Robertson and TAA where enjoying with Liverpool in real life. The heat map suggests that the side with Ewerton as our Ronaldinho will determine which side is more build up and what side is more outlet. This was going to be the plan, until this deal happened: A complete deadline day, panic buy, can't pass up on that type of transfer. However, £30m odd upfront, with installments and Ake (who had been agitating for move all summer and was only receiving derisory £40m bids.) This could mean a complete tactical u-turn, and revert back to type with something along the lines of Italy 2006. However with a couple of marked differences. Obviously Pepe and Dembele are not the functional players Perrortta, De Rossi or Camranesi (although Del Piero might be closer to the type of players our two wingers are). Eweton, our Brazilian regen talisman is the Totti-esque talenet and Luca Toni and Schick both share characteristics of powerful forwards. Emre Can/Guendouzi are both hardworking, and possibly even more complete players than Gattuso was, especially in terms of ball carrying. Neither are anywhere near Pirlo's imperious abilities as a Regista though. We also don't really have a Buffon or Cannavaro. . Any tips of what approach to go for? Both are relatively negative tactics with either multiple central defenders, work-man like midfielders with an emphasis on the flanks. The Brazil tactic could lead to a engaging season, with my wing-backs are main attacking threats, the other places that burden on Schick and Ewerton, with the wingers having to travel from deep. One asks the wingers to sacrifice themselves and start from deeper positions, the other puts a lot of pressure on the wing-backs to be our main attacking thrust. This is Ewerton below. Technically very good with 17 for First Touch, Long Shots and Technique. With respectably dribbling, passing and flair. Outstanding 19 for vision and teamwork, 18 for Decisions and Determination. 20 Agility I'm trying to develop him in such a way that his long shots hit 20 and I can just place his on the edge of the area from corners for goals galore. Any playmaking roles deter him from taking shots though, so maybe his future is deeper in the Segunda Volante role, as this in theory should allow more space for the ball to find him running onto the ball on the edge of the area or further out and pinging them in from range. A 21st century, Brazilian-born Steven Gerrard. - Edited April 22, 2020 by Swills417
OmegaFM
Hey, I've decided to redo my annual Arsenal save as now I've finished my Genk save it can become my main save so I've restarted I started by clearing out our scouts and bringing in a new look recruitment team as recruitment has NOT been our strong point in recent years *cough* David Luiz *cough* Sokratis *cough* Mustafi... You get the point so hopefully we will pick out some gems with this set up In terms of transfer activity i went for quality over quantity only bringing in 3 players but the key player is Leon Goretzka who for 26 million was an absolute steal and we sold 2 players in Lacazette and Xhaka to bring in some extra funds (mustafi would have left but he picked up a injury putting him out for the whole season) I do also have an offer in for Matias Zaracho who looks like a gem of a player Anyways Ill see you all at the end of august Edited April 23, 2020 by OmegaFM
OmegaFM
August Update The season didnt begin as well as hoped taking a 2-0 loss to Leicester City Although we got very unlucky as both fullbacks went off injured (Just my luck) meaning we had to ship David Luiz out as a left back because Kolasniac was left off the bench resulting in us having to play Torreira as a center half when new signing Issa Diop picked up a red card and well being 5'5 and a center back is a recipe for disaster with Vardy bullying him for the next 20 mins or so plus Goretzka was p*** poor in midfield with Zaracho having to pick up after him however Zaracho did proof he hasn't got a clue how to defend with him being at fault for the second goal as he held on to the ball for far too long resulting in Vardy dispossessing him and slotting it past Leno Jorge injury leaves us in quite the pickle though This injury means we only have 1 fit LB being Sead Kolasinac for the next month and a half a time period that has us facing both Manchester clubs, thankfully Chambers injury is fine and he should be fit for the next match The Next Match against Man City went much better than the match against Leicester picking up a 1-0 victory The goal was an absolute screamer by Leon Goretzka, redeeming himself instantly after the last game however Zaracho had to miss out due to a slight knock but it was a very even match up however the goal was so good I've gone through the trouble of recording it and It'll be at the bottom of this post The next match was another 1-0 victory over Brighton We were honestly unlucky to not win by more with the sole goal being a Nicolas Pepe penalty however only 8 shots on target out of 19 is quite the worry for me as a huge part of a majority of my sides is being able to create an abundance of chances to keep opposition defence pressured and keep the opposition as a whole on the back pedal but if we cant finish these chances than it could be a struggle The Carabao Cup provided quite a shock I'm excited for these one despite it ONLY being the Carabao Cup And it seems like the Europa League isn't enjoying our presence We have been handed a tough draw that sees us face Borussia Monchengladbach and Spartak Moscow both of which are very respectable sides that will like their chances of going through We are 8th in the league on the 30th august (I cant screenshot because im at the max post size) Football Manager 2020 2020-04-24 00-06-50.mp4
OmegaFM
September Update September started off with a bang as we win 3-1 over West Ham We dominated West Ham this game however my worries still persist with only 9 shots on target out of 21 but if we keep scoring I wont have to worry, Goretzka wasn't amazing so I'm going to have to figure out how to get him at his best as Goretzka can honestly become the best player in the league if I can use him properly so I think this could be an experimental month as the fixture list does look fairly relaxed The next game was a 2-1 victory against Newcastle United at St James Park This was the first match of my experimental run with the tactic being strongly influenced by Arrigo Sacchi's AC Milan of the late 80's and Goretzka played very well in this game and I was also a massive fan of the way we moved the ball forward I made a few edits but this is how I interpret Sacchi's Milan side with David Luiz playing the Baresi role Torreira as Ancelotti Goretzka playing in the Donadoni role Zaracho playing as Guillit and Auba as Van Basten if you want me to go into a full data analyst on the tactic I would be more than happy to We then suffered a 3-2 loss to Gladbach in the Europa League I used the same tactic we used against Newcastle and it has allowed me to identify one huge issue with this tactic ... We are S**T at defending with this tactic despite attacking very well we simply cannot win matches if we are defending this badly so it leaves me back at the drawing board well it would but next up is top of the table Man Utd We beat title rivals Man Utd 4-2 pushing us to 2nd in the league with the top 3 being United 1st, Arsenal 2nd, Liverpool 3rd 1990's anyone anyway we played very well to beat top of the table Utd also we have begun to be able to finish more chances with 13 shots on target out of 24 and Goretzka played very well again and I reverted to my variation of a Vertical Tiki-Taka and it came out well but Pepe stole the show with 2 goals and 2 assists Next? Spurs We dominated this game with Spurs only taking 4 shots compared to our 19 and it seems Torreira picks up another MOTM award though I have to admit I'm starting to worry about Martinelli as he simply continues to perform poorly and Im considering loaning him out in jan but I'd like some more opinions on the matter In the Carabao Cup we have drawn Wolves in the 4th round also Liverpool AND Man City have been knocked out leaving us Chelsea and Man Utd as the only big 6 sides left in the competition We beat Palace 1-0 again dominating the number of shots with our 16 putting their 5 to shame Torreira performed extremely well again putting out an argument that he should win player of the month and Yes Martinelli has been dropped in favour of Saka who got an assist so I am leaning towards loaning Martinelli out Aubameyang picked up the player of the month award and with 5 goals in 4 appearances you can't argue with that I have won the manager of the month award continuing my personal trend of going on a unreal run of form through September winning every game And in the league We are second on GD and this top 3 is looking like something out of the 90s we just need Newcastle to fire up the league table
OmegaFM
October Update October started with a game against Spartak Moscow away from home in the UEL We did well picking up the 3-0 victory with Saka, Nelson and Ceballos scoring and well shockingly enough MATT MACEY putting out a hell of a performance and if he keeps it up he could challenge Martinez as No.2 Martinelli though is still the weak link even down the center with him picking up the lowest rating on the team and honestly my patience is running thin with him also AMN is out for 2-4 weeks with a pulled groin which couldnt come at a worse time as next up is Liverpool at home Despite picking up the 3-2 win this was one of those games you don't like to see with both sets of players going out of their way to end one another's career as im pretty sure every other highlight was a free kick (probably just 1 in 4 highlights but still) Pepe scored 1 and missed 1 from the spot and after the score being 2-1 to Liverpool at half time Aubameyang planned and executed the comeback however we are without Torreira for Norwich at Carrow Road which isn't the easiest away trip with the Canaries faithful being a formidable set of fans and we cant afford to underestimate Norwich's ability also with United drawing with Chelsea at the bridge we go top of the table It seems like an appeal has gotten Torreira banned for an extra 2 matches in all fairness it was a horrendous tackle My luck cant get any better *says very sarcastically then cries into a pillow* Leon Goretzka tore a groin muscle so he is out for the next 4-5 weeks. We'll miss him too as he has a pass completion rate of 91% and averages 1.56 key passes every 90 minutes Anyways despite having a significantly weakened midfield we were able to come out with the 2-0 win at Carrow Road with Aubameyang and Chambers the goal scorers, Calum Chambers managed to pick up the MOTM award and more than capably filling Torreira's place. We're going to have to rest Tierney though as he isn't looking too good (Lets just hope Thanos doesn't show up) we gave Nketiah an appearance of the bench but as respectfully as I can say it he was p*ss poor I'm sorry I can say that a trip to Carrow Road isn't easy but a game at home against some side from the swiss super league I've never heard of before is a guaranteed 3 points as shown by the fact they couldn't get a shot on target also Martinelli picked up a goal which is good maybe I was a little harsh but if he continues like that he'll earn his place back in no time and of course Matt Macey picked up another clean sheet also the reason Macey is playing over Martinez is that Emi Martinez has been poor in training Just seen we got 3 games in 5 days because that makes sense FM that makes sense indeed Can this count as an injury crisis David Luiz is out for 7 weeks with lower back stress fracture Next up is Watford at home Again we were dominant winning 3-0 goalscorers were Aubameyang and Guendouzi who picked up a brace and the MOTM award showing we have gone from strength to strength during Torreira's suspension and Ceballos filling in for Goretzka amazingly Martinelli came off the bench and whilst he didn't light up the pitch he wasnt nearly as bad as he has been recently Also Man City will be looking to take Aubameyang off our hands with Guardiola being spotted at the Emirates but I want around 70 million for Aubameyang as he has been destroying defences Next up was Wolves at home in the Carabao Cup It went well picking up a 3-0 win and a spot in the QFs. Bellerin got his first goal since returning from injury and also the MOTM award whilst Torreira marks his return with a goal and Martinelli also scored a pen which I gave him as part of my plan to get him playing as well as we know he can honestly though I have to thank Max Kliman for not having a clue how to defend being responsible for 2 of our goals and this result leaves us unbeaten for October At the end of the month we are 2 points clear top of the table with it looking extremely close at the top with us only being 9 points clear of 6th place Tottenham Also not sure I have to say it should go without saying but I won manager of the month again Edited April 24, 2020 by OmegaFM

Beat Chelsea comfortably, but lost to city and Bristol City. Tempted to save scum. But could also just holidays until my replacement Ancellotti is sacked and take over again. Also tempted to start an Arsenal save on an older version of FM. Oldest I can go back is 2009. Tempted by a 2015 or 2016. Find that 16 year old Mbappe and sign him up! VP.
SEASON 13 AUGUST TO DECEMBER Made no signings in the summer and have only made two in the last three and a half seasons. There's a handful of players coming to the end of their time at the club (Tierney, Foden, Sancho, Szoboszlai, Saka) and this has pushed me to bring in three players who will all arrive in January. Yoeri
We qualify for the big stage in the world: Champions League. Pépé scores a hattrick and carried us on his own to the last Champions League spot. Conclusion: Pépé is a CL-player. Arsenal is a candidate to improve himselfs in the Champions League and we can attract far better players. This could mean we are going after prospect, we never ever could think about. Let's build Arsenal to were we belong. The top and even higher. We definitely have the ambition with: the money, Arteta as manager, good youth and most important -> a vision. (EDIT:) We also won the Europa League final against SL Benfica. We are really onto things right now. Edited May 3, 2020 by Yoeri

llama3
Finished 4 x seasons on my save so far. Interestingly, a club favourite is Catalin Cirjan! He was recalled from loan by me out of the blue - Kai Kavertz was in bad need of a rest post-World Cup, so I decided to give him a week off and recalled Cirjan to get me through 2 x games. He scored 14 seconds into his debut, at home to top of the table Everton. Set a new club record. Went on to get a few more goals and assists, before selling him on for £20m in the summer. My overall record so far: 19/20 - Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League 20/21 - Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup 21/22 - Premier League (Invincible, with 106 points), Community Shield 22/23 - Premier League, League Cup My Invincible run was 40 games, ended at home to Burnley... We've been good, but missed out on the Champions League. Went out in the semis in 2021 to winners PSG, went out to Real Madrid in the round of 16 in 2022 which was irritating; they also scored over 100 points in their league, but as they had only come 2nd in the group stage, my reward for an excellent group stage was to face the other standout side in Europe. In 2023 went out to winners Man Utd which was also frustrating - I've clearly got a better side, but somehow contrived to not win it. The disappointment has prompted a bit of a rethink tactically - just focusing on more of a Gegenpress style, than Control Possession. After my defeat to Man Utd I went on a brutal run of form, scored 5+ goals in 3 or 4 occasions in the last 7 games. Just tweaked the side with my signings this summer and feel the squad is at the most cohesive it has ever been. From the original squad I have still got: Bellerin, Tierney, Saliba, Saka, Martinelli, Torreira, Guendouzi, plus promoted James Hillson as a backup goalkeeper. Had quite a few players both arrive in and go out again where my recruitment hasn't been quite on the money - Aaron Martin, Jadon Sancho, Jules Kounde to name a few.

TheInvisibleMan
Just come so close to a perfect season with Arsenal in 2026/27 - the quadruple and an unbeaten league season. Valencia beat me in the final of the Champions League, in what was a real rollercoaster of a game. I was jumping around my living room when we equalised to take it to extra time! Similar to @llama3 above, only one team was trying to win and unfortunately got done on the counter a couple times. We also had a goal disallowed for offside in the 119th minute which would have taken it to penalties. Cohen had missed a few penalties for me in the past 2 seasons and I had relegated him to 5th taker. But of course as he was on a hat trick and I still had that box ticked, he took it. Bit of an error from me, on the biggest stage of all! But oh well, it was a chance for him to be a hero and I'm not sure anyone has ever managed that in a Champions League final before. I'd managed a domestic treble the season before too, knocked out by Liverpool in the Champions League quarter final after going down to 10 men early in the 2nd leg. Considered my future a bit after the Valencia game, having won everything but the Champions League twice, but Atletico was the only big job available so I decided to stay at the club for at least one more season. The project now is to try to mould the team back into a shape involving wingers, rather than the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond that I've been using for the past 2 seasons. Our unbeaten run in the league has meant we've broken the original invincibles record of 49. We're currently on 51 which will of course lead into the next season. It was another reason I wanted to stay, to see how far I could take that record and try to set something that perhaps will never be beaten! Proud to have built what I'd imagine people would call 'Invincibles 2.0', having started my career at Coventry in League One! Not something I expected to happen in this save. llama3
@TheInvisibleMan - I have had 2 cracks at beating that Invincible run and fallen short. Managed 40 games when I went the season unbeaten (had lost on final day of previous season and 3rd game of the following season). then crossing over the middle of 2 seasons managed 47 games, losing to Liverpool at Anfield. Still, at least I knocked them out of the Champions League.

I didn't think I'd beat it to be honest, we had some tough games towards the end of that season and a few of the draws were from us scoring late goals. I've never really had a team that can come up with something when needed as well as my current group can. Even in the Champions League final they were so close to coming back again in extra time and really should have won it with the penalty. Must have been tough to reach 47 and then lose but that's still an incredible run Edited May 14, 2020 by TheInvisibleMan
Vilmar
My first season with Arsenal saw me mainly revamp the backroom staff. And bring in loads of young players. Few players on free transfer. Managed to get rid of Ozil and Mkhitaryan but with hefty 'selling team wages' options.. The staff really was a mess. And the U19 and U23 players were poor to say the least. Won the League due to Liverpool stumbling at the end. Got the Europa League Cup and League Cup. Sadly Liverpool dumped us in the semi of the F(or) A(rsenal) Cup.
