will.patton1
Right, instead of stomping my feet in an outrage, and acting like SI have commited genocide, i have decided to upgrade my T-Rex of a computer. At the moment, ill be honest, its a bit of a relic. i have a radeon 9200 gfx card, 512 DDR ram, AMD Athlon XP 2000+ cpu and a motherboard i swear they ripped out of some poor kids old caleco vision and just reconditioned it with tracing paper and tin foil. I was on Ebay earlier looking for motherboard and cpu bundles for sale and a few have grabbed my eye. Im on a budget so would like some advice on which ones will be worth purchasing so i can get back to getting a scolding off the missus for loving footie manager more than her!!..... number 1: This package consists of a BIOSTAR AMD Socket AM2 64-bit Motherboard, AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Dual Core Socket AM2 64-bit Processor, 2GB DDR800 Memory, heat-sink & Fan, PCI-Express 16x Graphics Slot for future upgrade options, plus on board 512MB nVidia GeForce 7025 Graphics, on board 5.1 Audio, Onboard LAN, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x PCI slots. Supports both SATA and IDE. User manual, Driver CD & cables included. PRICE - £105.90 + p&p number 2: Biostar motherboard w/ NVIDIA MCP61S(GeForce 6100/nForce 405), AMD Sempron 3600 CPU with AMD approved heatsink & fan plus 2GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM. this one also has features such as PCI-Express 16x slot etc. PRICE - £62.95 + p&p cheaper so would be able to get a load more RAM, probably another 2GB or something first. number 3: BIOSTAR Socket 775 Intel 64-bit Motherboard, Intel Pentium E2180 Dual Core 64-bit Socket 775 Processor with Intel Speed-step 64-Bit Technology. 2GB DDR2 800 Memory, Heat-sink & Fan, PCI-Express 16x Graphics Slot for future upgrade options, plus on board 512MB nVidia GeForce 7050 Graphics, on board 5.1 Audio, Onboard LAN, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x PCI slots. Supports both SATA and IDE Hard drives. PRICE - £105.90 p&p number 4: BIOSTAR AMD Socket AM2 64-bit Motherboard, AMD Athlon X2 4200+ Dual Core Socket AM2 64-bit Processor, 4GB DDR2-800 Memory (2 x 2GB sticks) heat-sink & Fan, PCI-Express 16x Graphics Slot for future upgrade options, plus on board 512MB nVidia GeForce 7025 Graphics, on board 5.1 Audio, Onboard LAN, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x PCI slots. Supports both SATA and IDE Hard drives PRICE - £116.90 + p&p i know i will have to upgrade again in the future but the motherboards seem relatively solid so should do for a while, and upgrading the CPU's, RAM and Gfx cards is a given and expected at some point. any constructive advice would be appreciated as i am sure im starting to get the shakes and withdrawal symptoms due to not being able to play FM09!!!!! cheers fellas
craigy18181
mate it looks as though you have already put a fair bit of work into researching this so you must have a fair idea of what you want. I would go for package 4 personally.
will.patton1
you would think, but, most of the stuff mentined is just letters arranged to sound techy to me, dont really have a clue what most of it all means tbh
craigy18181
well the 4th package is the only only you have with 4GB of ram, double any of the other packages. They are all good apart from the second one, I would stay away from Sempron processors.
