Liamgannon
I know these instructions sound contradictory and they are. But my very good tactic utilises them both, when using either as a stand-alone TI, my team isn’t as effective, and is almost broken. when using both by team plays nice short, fast, and high tempo football, but when the opportunity presents itself, the through ball pass is made, if the opportunity doesn’t present itself then we go down the wings and work the ball into the box... What are people’s thoughts on this?
Zendahl
I agree it sounds contradictory but when used properly and for the right reason it should and will work very well
Liamgannon
Yeah I agree, it actually adds depth to a tactic, as the best ones utilise many different ways to score. I don’t use pre set tactics, but wonder if any have both options ticked, probably not.
Zendahl
I do, although its very situation based. I never use it as a permanent part of a tactic but might use it in game
permanentquandary
I thought they were complimentary! Work into box means cross less, keep possession more if there are no chances, but with pass into space, when there is a gap, knit a through ball in there. Against teams that sit deep i imagine it's better to pass to feet though.
2feet
I cant find pass into space anymore - i thought theyd removed it?
yonko
To me it is not contradictory at all. The combination of the two Tis means that you are patiently looking for the through ball to play. WBIB just reduces the likelihood of long shots and crosses which lead to turnovers / loss of possession. It has nothing to do with passing setting. Lurkin
WBIB reduces long shots and crosses, that’s all it’s ever been
