Finally! It's been too long in the waiting, I've been trying to get this thread up and running for a while now. This year's FM like those before it is loaded with potential gems and bargains all plying their trade in the freezing conditions of the Nordic lands. Previous incarnations of this thread were deemed popular and I've seen numerous threads requesting its return, I'm looking at previous contributors like @Ronaldo Beckham and of course the king of the unknown @Welshace to uncover those we may not be too familiar with.

Par with the course, a slight disclaimer is needed. I, like many others, tend not to play all in FM game time in England or even at "larger" clubs so a lot of these players may very well not be up to your usual standards. But for some people these players can prove very valuable within our squads, also I've decided not to just limit it to those whos nationality is from one of the above nations but anyone playing their football in the leagues above as there are a number of quality African and South American players who really are worth a look.

Daramy at FC Kobenhavn is another good shoutout. You can pick him up for around € 1.5/2M at game start. On I save I did with Werder Bremen he was elected European Golden Boy in 2020/21.

Some of my favourites are :

Nelsson: perfect starting CB for smaller teams and great for developing for bigger teams.. and can play all through the middle.. great utility man

Gf5HaMP.png

Young cheap fullbacks are a premium this day and age in the game but Bjorkan fits the bill nicely.. can also do a job further up field down the left wing.

bAC0aIg.png

Tankovic: the ex Fulham man has improved massively and is a perfect creative forward, I like to play him as an f9 as those are at a premium in game, but can play play anywhere in the final third and do a wonderful job..  I think he's my favourite scandinavian bargain this year so far.

krpAfHh.png

Adam Andersson: again, fullbacks are hard to find cheap, this guy can play both sides well, and apart from his physicals, he's top notch.

Xfuhgar.png

And just a few real youngsters to bring in to develop:

Big Max Normann is a huge 6'3 already as a 15 year old with impressive stats to go along with it, has some potential and will be a star or someone to develop and sell.

0xmR33O.png

Faghir : tipped for big things irl as the next Ibra apparantly.. looks decent in game too ... pick him up now, but also keep an eye on him for the winter update, suspect he'll get a boost.

qyckQRZ.png

Ceide : also tipped for big things is this tricky winger / amc depending how you want to train him..

Few more... can't resist.. the nordic leagues are a literal gold mine as always..

Love this guy... so talented, so cheap.. and a set piece specialist, which always makes me love them more.

kDYQAuV.png

Jacob .. 18 year old dmc who can play already in the second league of top countries i think

Most of the top talents in the region already mentioned but would also add:

Daleho Irandust - been rated for some time but still in Sweden with Hacken. Gifted playmaker, if a little lacking physically:

irandust.thumb.png.c75a4d2db2d1a8d4df98967277968059.png

Alhassan Yusuf - well-rounded midfielder with potential for the top leagues:

yusuf.thumb.png.5af9be89f158b11794e621820ea1654a.png

Simon Olsson - classy deep-lying passer:

olsson.thumb.png.da1f721188436d0e58c2d667ed295fe7.png

Nils Frohling - pacey, direct striker, maybe lacking a little creatively but looks worth developing:

frohling.thumb.png.70933f462f84b8907526f423ce602c9d.png

Oscar Linnér - giant 'keeper; not the greatest with his feet but good at all the traditional skills:

linner.thumb.png.e3ab963f27d1f82683049b8b6141a64b.png

Frederik Nielsen - another giant, this time a centre back in the Danish 2nd tier with good-playing skills:

And a few from the next generation - seems that the Norwegians have a few following Odegaard and Haaland...

Odin Thiago Holm - seen as the next big thing in Norway IRL, could be set for a breakthrough season in Oslo:

holm.thumb.png.83e56c87e21db282c0244a780ac9ae2c.png

Bryan Fiabema - will be at Chelsea come the winter update but for now, remains in Tromso and looks well worth developing:

fiabema.thumb.png.5c041c7b5c45ac648180730ae03331a2.png

Erik Tobias Sandberg - on loan for the first season but has the makings of a very good, well-rounded centre back:

sandberg.thumb.png.2ba94ae9b3b59080caf8588b3252c91a.png

Joshua Kitolano - raw but physically impressive brother of Wolves prospect John:

kitolano.thumb.png.98ddb822365b015d997f236b04b2400b.png

And a couple outside of Norway...

Isak Bergmann Johannesson - son of ex-Villa midfielder Joey Gudjonsson, seen as a big prospect in Sweden:

johannesson.thumb.png.76e84c2e065621b0ab64ba15555b7c5d.png

Mikkel Damsgaard - big favourite of mine both in FM and IRL but recently agreed an end-of-season switch to Sampdoria. Still, qualifies for now and is a wonderful, if slight, creative midfielder:

Jens Petter Hauge - talented winger, can play both sides, wanted by big clubs.

frAKshk.png

Trondsen - never has the term utility man been more applicable .. been a decent pick up for a fair few games now.

PnCjg30.png

Fred Winther - wanted by big teams at the start of the game, looks a decent prospect, never had him ingame though.

FhmMryF.png

Boniface - injured at the start i believe, but worth keeping an eye on.. decent prospect

@Welshace I took Victor Boniface to Hammarby, currently in my reserve side but is developing well and scores plenty at that level. Only a matter of time before he gets promoted to the main squad.

I don't have screen shots of all the players I signed there but can post the squads if people want to check them out? I think only four were taken from outside the Nordic region and I was particularly keen to hoover up as many of the Swedish youth internationals as possible. One of the four was a young Thai signed by my HOYD before I changed the settings, one was from Argentina and the other two were Jamaicans. My short list also probably has a few more that I am keeping an eye on, but plenty of good names shared by you guys n here.

I wouldn't mind having a look. I'm always trying to sign different players that I haven't worked with before.

I tried to get mainly Swedish players as the league rules mean they will be more valuable than Danes, Norwegians etc.

This is my first team squad at Hammarby. Ojeda and Nicholson were the only ones not at the club or recruited by me from outside the region

My reserve squad (image from early in first season). Only Marshall was not already at the club or was recruited from outside the region

Jack Lahne has been the pick of the bunch

Kalley is my favourite here, but Westerburg, Roback and Mawana are the other ones impressing me most. Ignore Petterssen, he is a newgen

I like Damion Lowe. I have signed him for Inter Miami in the past. Always works well with whoever I pair him with.

One of my 'long term' goals for an FM save is to take a highly multi-cultural club and see if I can win the Champions League using players solely of that nationality. Although, I will also look at dual nationalities as well. I just feel that it would be a good challenge.

Yes, a very reliable player who performs well. It's been years since I managed in MLS but with a new club like Inter Miami did you still have all the restrictions on overseas players and have to use drafts, or could you recruit who you want at the start?

In the interests of this thread, I should also mention Kevin Harletun. A young Swedish striker released by Malmo who starts as a free agent. Was being tracked by Watford and Hull and is an absolutely risk-free early signing who could become a very good player.

Players currently on my shortlist in Sweden not listed in my above post are: Alexander Jallow (DRL), Rasmus Wikstrom (DC), Jordan Kadiri (ST), David Edvardsson (MC), Anton Saletros (MC), Rasmus Lindkvist (DL) and Kwame Kizito (ST).

I have actually been trying to get players from this thread at Miami. I will have a look for that striker.

Season 2? You might find that to be too early for him at such a high level so I wouldn't pin your hopes on him. However if he is free, I would recommend picking him up and see how his development goes for you. His attributes suggest he will deliver in time.

Thank you for quick reply. I tried to sign him but he locked in only 1 year ! - I don`t really want to be a stepping stone

I have had great success with Hammarby, going to Quarter Final in CL with mostly scandinavians, my best players were Victor Kristiansen, Mattias Jakobsen, Nils Fröling, Jeppe Höjbjerg, Isak Jansson, Isak Magnusson, Isac Harrysson. With the first two I have rejected bids for 30M Euros from Premier League.

Some other good players from Sweden is: Anel Mujanic, Tim Prica, Dennis Collander, Isak Pettersson.

Absolute great find, that but another to enjoy before the winter patch - he's signed for a Turkish club recently.

Shame, I could never get him to sign for Vålerenga because Kristiansund inexplicably became the best team in Norway

Also posted this guy on hidden gems thread.

He's a beast.

8.30 rating for me in 6 games with 2 assists and 3 man of the match.

If FM20 had better central play he would have like at least 5 or 6 assists.

Jorgen Strand Larsen

Yeah, I did put JSL in my medium list on Sunday. A decent prospect IRL and I think similarly rated in my games.

I recall at Bolton always being told to sign JS as I raided his club for several of their players. He looked decent but I wanted a 100% CB or DM/CM and didn't sign him.

I haven't come across BR in game or IRL.

Marcus Forss

Jere Uronen

Moshtagh Yaghoubi

Robert Taylor

Will Jaaskelainen

Aapo Halme

Fredrik Jensen

It's not a country rich with talent in the game tbh ... Petteri Forsell is my favourite Finnish player overall though, love the guy
