Offering non-playing roles to senior players

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Is there any way to get an indication of what sort of staff member a senior player will become if I offer them a job?

I know those that are interested in coaching state what specialism they want to follow, but I have no idea what aptitude they'll have. Been stung loads of times by sacking a 'natural' coach only for the player to turn out to be of poor aptitude.

Similarly with scouts I don't even know what their specialism will turn out to be (as well as the aforementioned aptitude) which is even worse.

Should I be looking for certain personality traits or player attributes for an indication?

A players staff role is based on the players position and attitude.

More professional/influential players are more likely to take up staff roles and attacking players are more likely to be attacking specialism, goalies goalkeeping specialism etc.

The player aptitude however is random.

Thanks for the feedback, James.

Is the staff aptitude something that can be added to the confirmation popup that comes up when you select 'Offer Non-Playing Role'? That way you can make a more well-rounded decision on whether to offer them a job.

Also I understand that defenders normally turn into defensive coaches, etc, but does a players position/attitude have any bearing on their specialism when they become a scout? Are there any other indicators I should be looking for in this instance?
