EDIT: Although the top says 2026, this is showing the 2022 tournament, just under the "history" section. Romania and Jamaica definitely seem the darlings of this year's edition. Romania were especially impressive, finishing above Ivory Coast and Uruguay in their group before upsetting Portugal and Brazil en route to a fourth-place finish(lost 0-3 to England in third-place playoff). We still find ourselves locked firmly in the middle of the table, which I'm very pleased with! We are looking to be in great position to survive this season and hopefully reinforce the squad to challenge for Europe next season! ranks39 Posted April 10, 2020 Author Share Posted April 10, 2020 April 2023 An insanely great month for us as we beat each team in the table below us... unfortunately, we only have three matches left and Luftetari are playing as well as we are and not dropping points. Our next match is at home to KF Tirana, who sit two spots below us, then we travel to Partizani before coming home for our finale, against Villaznia, who may well be playing for the league title. Our chances of qualifying for Europe are very slim but we are holding out hope! D'Angelo has been an absolute monster over our last few matches and has single-handedly carried us to some victories. ranks39 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Share Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) September 2023 An amazing start to our second season in the Superleague - I've switched my tactic to go attacking and cede possession to try to get us more chances and it's worked to decent effect thus far. In our lone loss to Partizani, our DM was red-carded in the sixth minute and somehow we managed to score a couple of goals(while still conceding 5). Another particular highlight was a very even match against reigning champions Villaznia. We've also lost our first-choice left back for 3-5 months to injury. Either way, three wins from three is wonderful(even if it was against 3 of the bottom 4). We've shot right up the table and are securing ourselves as a club to be reckoned with this year. Had to add this as a preview to the December write-up(Rank's first ever win over Partizani! Instant Result only used one sub - whatever - I don't care! I also must heap praise upon my Defensive midfielder, Aleksandros Dhamo. The man is creating the lore of a club legend as he continues to be one of my most consistent players throughout this save. I have tried to bench him a number of times but he is just stellar for us. I know, right? He doesn't look like much but the man just produces when you need him to. ranks39 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Share Posted April 12, 2020 December 2023 Another decent month sees us stay second in the table, chasing Lushnja, who just lost their first match of the season. I've been very impressed with my squad's performance this year, especially given the injuries that we've faced. We're roughly halfway through the year(36 matches), so here's how the squad currently looks: So, obviously our wingers aren't looking good - no matter how much rotation, they just seem to be uninvolved(perhaps because they're trying to occupy space that is already occupied by the forwards). We're due to get Samec back shortly, so hopefully that will help our attacking impetus via the attacking fullback position. As you can see, strikers Dervishi and Sakaj(both loanees) are having great seasons as are Dhamo and Ptacek, our signing of the season. Also, Dhamo and Ptacek AND Sakaj and Dervishi have developed good partnerships. I haven't rotated nearly as much this season and the continuity seems to be paying off. We've been playing some impressive football as well, asserting our attack on opposing sides. Loanee Dervishi is running away with the golden boot in the Superleague. And the best average rating in the league by a healthy margin. We have the league leader in assists. And the hard-man of my side, Dhamo, pacing the league in yellow cards. I did see that Partizani fired their manager and I applied simply to see what their wages/transfer budget/finances look like. I would've loved the full three points against either Teuta or Vllaznia but such is life. While I still had the light skin on, this intriguing nugget came across my desk. Skenderbeu are currently in the First Division(Currently 2nd), so in line for a promotion play-off if they can hold on. Knowing what I know now, not a bad month - after losing to Lushnja, we lost the top spot for a week until we dismantled Flamurtari and Lushnja only managed a draw. We then consolidated that with our win over Luftetari, while Lushnja also won. Two months, eight matches - that is what will decide this league. ranks39 Posted April 13, 2020 Author Share Posted April 13, 2020 April 2024 Huge match against third-place Teuta, so I decided to live-manage. A HUGE 6th minute strike off of a corner!!! The equalizer comes off of a floated free kick from just in our half. Nodded over our keeper. Off of a Teuta free kick just outside of our box, Pavkovic lumps it forward on the counter to Dervishi who wins the ball and beats his man, then plays Sakaj into space and he beats the keeper one-on-one!!! A couple more chances came our way, including another one-on-one with the keeper but a poor effort left it at 2-1. Teuta didn't really threaten again and we collect all three points! Lushnja then drew Partizani to give us a 5 point gap at the top! Similar schedules but I fancy ours a bit more as we get to play Dinamo Tirana and Luhnja at home in two of our tougher matches and against Kastrioti and Flamurtari on the road. "We have ample wingers and wide attacking players but I need a right back." The answer becomes so clear - my young savior is going to hold down that role for club and country for the next decade and a half! Looking at his stats, the transition should be pretty simple and he'll be able to get forward to great effect in my system. This is why they pay me U$D 42,000(after taxes) each season.
