Our lone loss came at home to the 9th place side - but we honestly had the better of the match. Then we ran off five wins in a row. First to bottom-dwellers Sarmasu 2005, then to third-place Muresul Ludus, then to bottom-half Victoria Lehliu, mid-table Sovata, and finally top-of-the-table Lugoj. We've played particularly well, too - we haven't really been "stealing" matches. The 3-1 scoreline to Lugoj is the exception because it was an even match, not one that they dominated by any means. First, we draw a match that we really should have won and then we got dominated on our last match of the first half. We are just three points back but behind is is very crowded. It should be an interesting end of the season! And we've hit the mid-season break! First half Squad breakdown So this has been primarily the team that I've been using. Fixture congestion was a real issue near the beginning of the season but since then we've been playing one match per week. My bench is not deep and I've been relying quite a bit on my first choice starters to carry us. About 5 matches into the season, we also transitioned to 2 central midfielders rather than playing with 1 CM and 1 DM. So, here is our tactic at the moment: Having that tiny extra bit of width in the midfield has allowed us to not get beat down the wings as much as we had been. Now, I'll just take you on a brief walk through the key players in the squad. First and foremost, Nandor Suveg - a key free agent pickup from this offseason. Suveg has been the key to our attack, not only filling his boots but also providing opportunities for the inside forwards. Every success that we have goes through Suveg and he is truly having a monster season. Next are my fullbacks, Marius Pascu and Laszlo Kis. Though neither are particularly attractive in terms of their attributes, they've both chipped in with multiple assists and are winning balls in our high pressing system. Pascu, my right back, is winning over 80% of his tackles and is completing 79% of his passes. Kis has chipped in four assists from the left, is winning 88% of his tackles, and is completing just over 70% of his passes. I have used four attacking midfielders regularly. Sipos and Mbiyavanga have split time as the left attacking midfielder - combining for 3 goals and 4 assists and each winning over 80% of their tackles. Dinita has been my right attacking midfielder and has contributed 4 goals and 5 assists, winning 91% of his tackles and completing 86% of his passes. Finally, in the center of the attacking midfield is Vasile Ionica, who has tallied 3 goals and 3 assists, won nearly 90% of his tackles and has completed just under 80% of his passes. We finished on fifth, which is better than I expected anyways. Even playing very well, we were not going to catch CSM Lugoj - they went on a massive run after the mid-season break. Here are the final three months for Lugoj - crazy! They collected 37 of a possible 39 points with a +30 goal difference to finish the season..... just insane. Anyways, here we go! We've been okay over the last couple of months, but we're not really near being a challenger for the league title. We sit sixth heading into the holiday break. ranks39 Posted June 19, 2020 Author Share Posted June 19, 2020 April/May/End of Season 2024 Well, our promotion hopes fizzled out with about 4 weeks remaining but we still had a part to play in the race - we beat league leaders Muresul Ludus on the penultimate matchday, which catapulted Giarmata to the top of the table. In the end, Muresul Ludus would win their final match while Giarmata would not, sending Muresul Ludus to the promotion playoff. Our cup run has continued and we are into the final against third-bottom CSM Sighisoara - we have a definite chance! We finish out the season in 4th. Season recap to follow. Tudor Pruna, the man between the sticks had a nice, quiet year - which is always great for a goalkeeper! My center back pairing of Bodnar and Molnar has developed quite nicely and each had a great season! Rares Simionescu had a very good year in the middle of the park for us! Baetan, Gyarmati, and Suveg led our line and scored/assisted in bunches. Gyarmati also saw his first U19 cap for Hungary! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Outgoings - the most frustrating part about this level is the constant poaching. We are a semi-professional club but are unable to offer part-time contracts so I'm constantly offering out new contracts to my players to keep them in place. Unfortunately, we lost our main striker and our best central defender. Nandor Suveg - The striker we picked up 2 season ago, hitting 28 goals in 59 appearances is off to the Third League. Secondly, Stefan Molnar, our starting center back that we've had for 2 seasons is also off to the third division. Incomings - we've only made a few signings to replace players and add a tiny bit of depth - all on free transfers. Constantin Borza comes to us to upgrade our left back position. He will start immediately. Berk Selcuk, a versatile central defender or midfielder who is also Romanian and Turkish and has plied his trade in Romania for his entire career. He will immediately replace the outgoing Molnar in the center of defense but I'm hoping to get another central defender as Selcuk's best skills show a midfielder. Nicolae Dinu, a left-sided defender, will also get minutes at the left fullback position. Cristian Anghel, a versatile attacker will come in and get spot minutes at the vacated striker position but will also drop into the AMC position. We've also got a couple of signings coming in the January window that I'll profile as they join. It is a part of the club vision to sell the club so this makes sense. Also, we are getting no investment from the president. Our finances are TERRIBLE. Loan payments just over $3,000 are the difference between being in the red and being in the black. Lots of 1-0 results and only the 1 goal conceded this month so I must be positive. We're 10 points clear at the top with 12 straight wins....! 4 matches this month(November) before our winter break(and reinforcements arrive). Players of the Month Berk Selcuk - He has anchored the center of defense and has replaced Molnar admirably. Dragos Muresan - Also a new addition to the backline this offseason, the 22 year-old Romanian has been a force in defense and going forward. Rares Simionescu - The 22 year-old central midfielder has continued his three year run of great play. Laszlo Szabo - One of our only players that have come through a youth intake during my time at the club to play a significant role. He has been a fixture in the center of midfield. Around Romania - Casa Liga 1 A tight race across the top 12 spots, only 12 points separates the top side from the 12th-placed side. Around Romania - National Team 44th in the World at present. The draw away to National Sebis was particularly beneficial as they're second in the table to us and we will now not need to face them again! Alexandru Blidar is a midfielder with good physical attributes for our level and great passing ability and decisions. He will pair Simionescu in the center of the park. Alexandru Munteanu is a 20 year-old left back who will immediately provide competition for our incumbent. He has great defensive attributes for our level(10 marking, 13 tackling, 11 determination, 12 positioning) and decent physical and mental attributes. We still have four more league matches and a playoff(if we do, indeed, win our league). With just four matches to play, 6 points will do it. Our final stretch sees us face 3 of the bottom 6 sides and the 5th-placed side in the league. Around Romania - National Team 45th in the world. Arguably the two toughest teams in the group, both away..... the draw to Spain was a wonderful result! After being stuck in the fourth division for two seasons, we broke through on the third try! We still have to go and win a playoff but I'm optimistic! Club Icon! The prodigal son returns! I brought him back because A) he fits the desired age profile of my new signings B) he is a local boy that can provide depth and C) he has a fairly professional personality that I'd like to move throughout the team. Norbert Bodnar(from our second youth intake) returns and new boys Alexandru Antohi and Radu Lazar join us as well. Bodnar comes back to us from the fifth division! His fairly professional personality will help in terms of mentoring. Radu Lazar comes to us after being released from third-division side, U Craiova 1948 SA.
