If a player says he thinks he deserves a new contract and I say "yes, I'll open up contract talks," that is NOT a promise that HIS AGENT WILL AGREE TO ANYTHING. I may say I will open up talks in good faith, but if the agent rejects my offer or demands something unrealistic, I shouldn't have failed a promise I didn't even know I was making. Worse still, I shouldn't fail the promise because the agent then refuses to discuss further. The player should know this nuance. 2 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
