Conference National. We're struggling with injuries and a lack of depth, especially on the left flank and up front. Despite that we're still grinding out results and sit 3rd. What's different this season though is that there is no side running away with it. Everyone is in contention. We need to keep it like that and aim for the title and automatic promotion rather than the playoffs.

Cup games. We've drawn League 1 Coventry in the next round. We're at home though so just like we had a go at West Ham last season, (and drew), we're going to go strong against them and see if we can turn them over.

Devastated. Nov 2039

Not me, but our first choice right back (36d) Rey Thomas (BEL)(F.Det)*. He hasn't been willing to even enter negotiations with regards to him converting his part-time contract to a full-time one.

a4cec0b78d95ac7a482d21ad90b652cc.png

He's actually been playing reasonably well with 5 assists from 11 games so far this season, but his average rating is lower than I would expect it to be and I certainly think that his performances have suffered as a result. I was hoping that I would get him to change his mind, but it hasn't happened yet and I don't think I'm going to be able to change it now.

61ced08786c5aed2f14af4dd77b13fb2.png

I turned down bids of about £350k earlier in the season, and he's particularly not happy that I wouldn't let him join Crewe, but there are other clubs interested too.

cea72a9c5103b04270ae5d90a75885d0.png

There are about 20 months left on his contract so I'm tempted to see if we can get him through this window, (ends in March), and then make a decision then. If I sell him now then I weaken the side and it might effectively weaken us in our attempts to get promoted.

I think Thomas is definitely someone on you should hold on to until next summer.

Yeah. I'm determined that I don't want to let decent players go on a free where I can help it. I think I will be giving it some time, but he will be sold at some point if he won't re-sign.

Conference National. We're doing really well and if we have a weakness it's up front, (despite the number of goals scored). Despite that, the youngsters are developing well and after missing the last 3 games through injury, (32c) Declan Barry (IRL) * will be back for the next game.

Cup games. We were actually decent in this game and with 2 proper forwards I think we might have won. Having said that, 5 goals is too much to concede if you expect to win.

b64620130b78d5e30bb24bb59cf762c3.png

Transfers. I have decided to get rid of (36d) Rey Thomas (BEL)(F.Det)*. I have sold him to Notts County, who are actually in the Championship, and not only did I get our now standard 50% re-sale clause in there, but I also got him back on loan for the rest of the season. It seems strange that they wanted us to pay £180 of his wages. He will join them on 1st Jan and then come back on loan to us. Hopefully that will cheer him up a bit and his performances will improve still further.

Youth Intake preview. Dec 2039

I could do with a good striker, or a left winger, and I suppose I'm going to lose my right back so I wouldn't say no to one of those either. They don't have to be good though. In some ways a high PA but low CA player might be better for us. We could always do with a centre-half too.  I don't want much do I?

A full back and a central midfielder by the looks of it.

Transfers. We've lost 3 out of our best 4 players, but each of them have also come back in on loan until the end of the season. The idea is that we get promoted and then consolidate in League 2 next season. We just have to see if we can get the job done though.

e104ba8a3791b030deb5bb0b6d86cea1.png

These fees look relatively modest considering all the money that has been flying around in recent seasons, but when I list the biggest transfers in this save to this point, it will perhaps put them in perspective.

Jan 2040. £500,000
Jan 2040. £350,000 rising to (£550,000)
Jan 2040. £190,000 rising to (£350,000)
Jan 2038. £100,000 rising to (300,000)
Feb 2038. £62,000 rising to (£78,000)
Jun 2037. £20,000 rising to (£80,000)
Jan 2037. £14,000
Aug 2036. £23,500
Jun 2036. £4,000 rising to (£4,900)
Jan 2036. £3,100
Jan 2036. £14,250
Jan 2036. £23,000
Jun 2034. £14,740
Mar 2034. £825.
Jul 2033. £30,000

There is just no avoiding the fact that these transfers are significant in their own right, (within the context of this save), never mind the fact that each of them included a loan-back clause and a 50% re-sale clause.

Image removed in case you want to remove it, too...

Any reason for reverting to showing CA and PA again?

Also - what is 40(a) Sjoberg (Bal) real name? Sounds very Scandinavian, yet no second nationality?

Youth Intake changes

My error has given me a good opportunity to show this by accident

This is the original picture I posted.

2d20bc3ba412035095a9d81fe4dd5f03.png

The squad has been sorted by PPA and you can see that PPA is not the same as PA.

This is the squad a couple of days later after @_Ben_pointed out my error.

33a4f889efc70c4f35b556db2c1bd8ce.png

The intake happened on 19th March and today is 24th March, so there is only a gap of 5 days, but the difference in PPA is significant in some cases.

Because we can see the actual PA score on the 1st image, it gives us the opportunity to compare the changes.

The big change in particular seems to be (40g) Danny Doyle (Unamb) who has gone from 4.0 PA to 5.0 PA and this fits in with his actual PA of 108

It's only 1 change, but it again confirms the sense in signing all players and making a decision at a later date.

that's a very balanced intake, league 1/2 potential on most?

I'm not really sure.

I've said that I will look at CA/PA of ex players when they reach the age of 30, (and we have 4 on the list now), but they are not really of the required quality to get a good opinion.

(27d) Unwin is 29 so I will be able to look at him in July and I think he will offer a good comparison.

(22i) Ilan Duckett (WAL) has a CA of 11 and a PA of 17.

(24g) Martin Black (SCO) has a CA of 23 and a PA of 39.

(25d) Simon King (WAL) has a CA of 43 and a PA of 87. Oh wow, we missed out on him I think. :( I think that 87 CA, (which would have maxed out his PA), is League 2 isn't it?

c7d4e585e4e7df372c7b09b9d6db4922.png

(26k) George Anderson. (NIR) has a CA of 23 and a PA of 52.

It's Unwin, Chance and Tembo that are interesting, really. Particularly comparing their PA with the level that you were at when they generated.

Surely you could have a look at James too, as he's never coming back nor never likely to face you?!

What level of CA is what? Mar 2040

I'm struggling to work out what level of CA equates to what level of league.

I'm going to look at the to goal-scorers in each league, (who are 30+ years old), and I'm going to look at their CA to act as a guide.

Premier League

Boris Lusamba is 32 years old and is the 2nd top scorer in the Premier League at the moment. His CA is 176 and PA is 177.

Championship.

Jordan Neville is 30 years old and 5th top goal-scorer in Championship. He has a CA of 126 and PA of 136.

League 1

Kevin Murphy is the 13th top scorer in League 1, (there is nobody on the list 30+). His CA is 111 and his PA is 123.

League 2

Taylor Greenwood is the 7th top goal-scorer in League 2. His CA is 105 and his PA is 125.

Conference National

Greg Colwell is only 29 but there are no 30+ players on the list. His CA is 79 and his PA is 102.

(28c) Ryan Chance (JAM) is a big one for me, particularly because he has so many International Caps, (69).

I could look at (30a) James (DMA) * but I'm enjoying seeing how he's developing. I really don't want to look at players until they are 30.

Having seen the PA screenshot,  that's 6 who could easily play in Championship (100+ PA)

I know it's only 1 player in each league I've posted, but Greenwood in League 2 has a CA of 100+ so I'm not sure that 100+ is Championship, (although I appreciate he's only 1 player). He's played at League 1 & League 2 all through his career.

I guess its relative really but when I did the FMCU Wanderers youth only save my average CA of the squad was around 115-120 in La Liga and I was finishing top half. I did have 1 or 2 big standouts but leagues can vary quite a bit.

Double-barrelled name but yeah Sjoberg is definitely Scandi. Born here in Irchester though.

Championship - 120-140

L1 - 110-125

L2 100-115

Season on a knife-edge. Apr 2040

I'm about to play what I hope is the last game of the 2039/40 season. If we win we are Champions. If we draw we are most likely dropping into the Playoffs.

b5d03a292da4765e972eb74ec91e28c4.pngd1eaa6a71c3685d47a3cafc0117039f6.png

We're not in great form, but neither seemingly is anyone else.

0d975fa02398b1b906098c3b3da8478e.png

Kidderminster, (who sit 7th), are the only side who have won 3 of their last 5 games.

Our opponents Darlington might have only won 1 of their last 5, but are also unbeaten.

If we score 2 goals we equal the record for most goals scored in a Conference season. 3 goals sets a new record.

94627ee23b66b39a3f44739992ce5c5a.png

I'm not confident, and to make matters worse, if we don't win today and go up as Champions, I'm even less confidant about us winning the Playoffs. :(

We just need to win.
