But alas, it was not to be. The Italians were comfortable especially when we found ourselves 2-0 down and down to then men in the first half. We will move on. The Italians still need to come to Sweden and Holland will provide a test to both of us. It is not over for us yet. Italy move to control the group at the top. In the other game Holland beat Bosnia, to give themselves an outside chance of qualifying. Bosnia look dead and buried. The good work done in the first two games is now completely undone and it we may now have to work hard to stay in the League A. Holland beat Italy to keep themselves very much in the hunt, and it probably also helps us, but the loss to Bosnia is a hammer blow to our ambitions. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Hudiksvalls FF (September & October 2026) The end to the season saw us qualify for the Europa Conference League with a group of Lokomotiv Moscow, Hajduk Split and FK Sarajevo, we are very much in control of the group at the half way point. In the league we were needing consistency but we lost it at the back end of September and I was thinking that any title hopes had gone, especially when we lost Djurgardens in October. The situation got very exciting after the next fixture, we produced a great display to beat Hammarby and Malmo lost to Norrkoping. This meant that Malmo, Norrkoping and us were level on points going into the final game, with Malmo with the superior goal difference over us and Norrkoping. Malmo went to Hacken, we hosted IFK Goteborg and Norrkoping hosted Djurgardens. Malmo were the favourites but they blew the final game going down 1-0, and we managed to pull off the win against Goteborg meaning that Norrkoping could do nothing to stop us receiving the title. I presume the trophy would have been in Hacken for Malmo, but it would have to make the long journey up Sweden to us. An amazing achievement, and really in the end it was the best possible way to win it. Probably a win that defines the kind of team we are. But we had finally done it Hudiksvalls were champions of Sweden, 8 years after we took over as manager. The final classification sees us top the table on goal difference from Norrkoping. Malmo have to settle for Europa League football this season. In other matters we are very much in control of our Europa Conference League Group, with 3 wins from 3, and we are looking to advance to the next stage, most of which I presume will be played during our offseason. 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Despite taking the lead we could not hold of the tenacious Dutch and I am sure they wanted some revenge as they got 3-1 up. We pulled another one back, but that would be the way the game remained as we went down 3-2 in Amsterdam. Italy beat Bosnia, to all but secure their place in the semi finals. Results between Holland and Italy are identical and after that it is goal difference and 14 goals in one game would be a lot to make up. We are also probably assured of survival, due to our results against Bosnia, where we had more away goals during our games with them. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

The result against Bosnia at home will haunt us as we could have been in and around the promotion places. We finish 3rd and avoid the drop. We were top seeds and were drawn in Group D with Moldova, Slovakia, Albania and Wales. It looks like a pretty straightforward draw for us, I would expect us to progress to the competition in earnest without too many complications. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Hudiksvalls FF (Pre-Season 2027) A very busy pre-season period saw us perform quite badly in the Svenska Cupen as we bowed out at the group stages. It seems like a competition that we have never got the hang of. But we have made significant progress in Europe, as we scalped Sporting CP of Portugal in the 2nd Round to book a tie with Dynamo Kyiv in the Quarter Finals. All told I am pretty happy with how we have performed. This is our penultimate season in Sweden and having picked up the league title last season, I want to see if we can repeat the feat and if we can do anything special in Europe. We have not changed much as a manager since last year. We are still pretty reputable in Sweden and perhaps have had a few small improvements to attributes. One of the key things for me during the transfer window was to be able to bring back the key guys that we loaned last season and see who else we could pick up. We more or less managed to get them all back for another season, and we got in a few other players who hopefully add depth or first team potential as well. This season we are predicted to finish 2nd, so I think the team should be ready to challenge for the league this season. The expected first 11, not accounting for homegrown rules would be above. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Hudiksvalls FF (April & May 2027) Our start to the season was not great, we got knocked out of the Europa Conference League by Dynamo Kyiv, and did not win either of our first two league games, but since then we have been barnstorming as we swept all that came to play us. We look good value this season to repeat our league success from a season ago. We sit in top spot, 5 points clear from Norrkoping. Malmo have been a shambles this season and they sit in 9th place having lost more games than they have won. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Hudiksvalls FF (June, July & August 2027) We will first start with the Champions League playoff, it was a tight affair but Celtic scored some late goals in the 2nd Leg which meant that despite our win, they went through on away goals, we drop into the Europa League. Our league form has been pretty decent, we always take a little bit of time to get going, but as the period kept going we did better and better. We look again good value for the league this season. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Swedish National Team vs Albania (European Championship Qualifying Group D) This result gives us something to work, which is to protect against complacency, we were cruising 3-0 up and allowed 2 goals in stoppage time at the end of the game to give Albania a pretty respectable scoreline. But the win was all that really mattered and we thankfully got that at least. A draw would have been enough in this game for qualification but we got the winner in the final minute to keep our perfect record alive. We won the title with the draw with the draw against Elfsborg, to make it 2 Allsvenskan titles on the trot. We win the title by 8 points from a resurgent AIK. Malmo ended up finishing 5th and Norrkoping also did not have the best season finishing only 4th. We got through in the Svenska Cupen and we got through in the UEFA Europa League, so all pretty good for us. We went to Hannover and got a very nice 1-0 win, in what ended up being pretty even game between the two of us. I believe that the last time Sweden won a game of football inside 90 minutes on German soil against Germany, Adolf Hitler was Chancellor of Germany. Firstly this is our final season in charge of Hudiksvalls as our 10 years in charge will finish this season, so I was hoping for a good run in the cup but we only got as far as the Quarter Finals before we lost on penalties to IFK Goteborg, so we won't be winning that trophy. In the Europa League, we did what I hoped we would do and give Manchester United a game. We may have lost 4-2 on aggregate but we gave a very good account of ourselves, the stature difference between the clubs is just huge, so to even be on the same pitch shows how far we have come. The friendlies went to plan, we played a few good sides in there with the likes of Spartak Moscow, Slavia Prague and some Danish top division sides and did pretty well. We are now 4 and half star rated coach, so really we are seen as an elite manager at this stage, although clearly we are best known in our native Sweden. Did not really notice to many attribute changes, but we already have some very nice attributes. The transfer window was pretty tame, we just worked on getting back the loanees that have effectively become this club, most of them from Portuguese shores. We are like the Wolves of Sweden. The expected best 11 probably looks pretty identical to last season, but we won the league pretty easily so that is not a bad thing as far as I am concerned. TerminalPortugal Posted July 26, 2020 Author Share Posted July 26, 2020 Hudiksvalls FF (April & May 2028) After losing our first game of the season, which we seem to draw or lose throughout our time in charge, we then went on a brilliant run through the remainder of the two months. The issue has been Malmo are back, and they are on fire, so I can see this final season being an exciting one. We are a point behind Malmo, who have been brilliant so far this season, and we are already beginning to leave the chasing pack behind with Djurgardens in 3rd already 6 points behind at this early stage of the season. Well it could not have gone much better as we took Russia to town winning 4-0. Norway got the win against Bulgaria, to make it a Scandanavian 1 and 2 in Group E after one game. The England game was our 50th Sweden game and it would be our last one. We finished with a final record of 40 wins, 1 draw and 9 losses as Sweden manager, and we took Sweden to a final position of 13th in the world from something like 42nd when we took over. The Olympics came along and half the team went off to play in it for over a month. The main positive is that we will be in the Champions League proper after a sensational away performance against Celtic to see us through to Champions League group stages. However in the Champions League, we did produce quite possibly the most ridiculous result I can remmeber as we beat Bayern Munich 7-0 at home. We finish 2nd, which enough for Champions League football next season. The results now mean that we cannot qualify for the next round but also cannot be caught by Fiorentina. So I think my job at Hudiksvalls FF is done.
