Mower Harvey
Is it possible to have a working tactic with a wide width that doesn't end up with sub 40% possession? Or are the players too far away to retain possession for a decent amount of time?
Incubus1989
On FM19 I used a flat 4141 with West Ham where I used wide attacking width and focus through the middle with short passing at a normal tempo as a bit of an experiment. It worked fairly well but possession % was about 50-55 if I recall correctly. So feel it can work just have to try it and tweak as you go.
hyrule_king
I have used a 442 with very narrow to great effect , however when i tried very wide it did lose a bit of shape and the possession percentages did lower but not dramatically. Also it did seem when i tried focus through the middle with very wide that players naturally drifted inside to where the ball was going so it negated the very wide width. I haven't tried with IW AT LM/RM though. This could help with the full backs being able to overlap.
