Injury to player in match

I had a player get injured in a match, went to make the change like normal, gave the player instructions to player coming on then back to match screen and all it did was in top right corner says confirm substitution and says think you still have injured player on pitch and I cant go back and check if I have as there nothing to help me go back if i haven't made the change
