Corner Routines

Recommended Posts

(Reposted from last year - I'm not the routine creator)

Set both sides to 6 yard box corners, needs DCs with good heading/jumping (which they should have anyway!) and at least one striker with good heading/jumping.

Set one DC to challenge the keeper and the other one to near post flick-on.

Set best heading striker to attack ball from deep and the other (or an attacking midfielder) to attack far post.

Set wingers to short option and anyone else to either stay back or lurk outside the area (I find this useful to avoid a counter attack and to simply keep them out of the path of the ball when the corner comes in!!)

Set your corners to 6 yard box on team instructions. Pick your best heading and jumping stat players for marking keeper, near post flick on and attack near post. Try and pick someone with decent heading, jumping and finishing stats for attack far post. Set the rest as you see fit - outside area for anyone with decent long shots and come short for one player to try and drag a defender out of the box. All these can be set in the player instructions. If you have two central defenders that would be good at attacking corners then leave your fullbacks defending for if the ball breaks for the counter attack.
