Translating ideas to a tactic in FM2009

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I read the TTF written by wwfan and Millie and I think it's an amazing piece. I tried setting things up with the TTF in mind but I wasn't very succesfull, sometimes it went good, sometimes bad and sometimes nothing happened during the whole game.

Currently I'm trying to make a tactic for Club Brugge, one of the better teams in Belgium.

I have the Belgian national keeper, Stijnen, he has good reflexes but is extremely good at one-at-one situations, also his anticipation and decisions are good. Maybe he could be used as a sweeper-keeper?

My DC's are tall and decent, execpt one experienced DC (5) there pace is average (between 10-13).

The fullbacks aren't to great attacking but possibly in Belgium it's sufficient. I don't know what role to give them, it could be dependent of the rest of the squad. It's even not necessary to play with backs.

The best part, in my opinion, of my team are my wingers. They have good pace and dribbling qualities (passing and crossing average, finishing bad).

I have two decent box-to-box players (MC's, Daerden and Geraerts) and a very technical MC, Leko (rated as the best player of the team) - good first touch, long shots, dribbling, passing, technique, crossing, creativity, flair, positioning and condition. But bad at marking (8), tackling (9), aggresion (9), decisions (7!!!), pace (10) and acceleration (9). I gues he would be a good playmaker but his decisions are so bad. What can I do with these player?

Then my forwards are good at finishing and heading but they aren't to big and their jumping-stats aren't high.

So my questions are :

1) I have hard-working players but they aren't technically not that great (except the wingers and Leko). I do not want to give them to much CF as they aren't able of using it well (to low creativity, decisions, flair and technique). So only higher CF for the wingers (and Leko or not?) and maybe the fwd's? Would that be enough to produce attacking play?

My main-idea of my attacks is to exploid the strenght of my wingers, they should dribble and then cross the ball to the center.

Which mentality system should I use? I was thinking of a 4-4-2 formation but I'm willing to change.

2) I noticed that when I play to direct my forwards don't get involved in the game as they mostly lose the headings.

3) How can I use Leko? His defending isn't good and also his decisions aren't good. I want him to be available to get the ball and to bring calmness when we have the ball and then pass the ball to the wingers as they should be able to dribble their opponent and create danger. I guess he should be playing not to high and my wingers the same. I don't want them to go in space behind the opposition defence (maybe that could be a second attacking plan).

4) Maybe a box-to-box player could be handy as he would help defending with Leko and arriving in the box to score?

I would be very thankful if someone could give me some advice and tell me what mentality-system would be the best to use if I want to play like that.
