Ok we can all remember Leeds being a top team in the Champions League and the Premier Ship. Now they are playing in the coca cola league 1. Who wants to join me bringing them to the top? Keep posting updates about fixtures, sigings and promotions! Hope a lot of you guys will join this challenge..

It is now up to you to manage Leeds all the way to the Premier League title and UEFA Champions League crown.

You may not move clubs unless you are sacked.

If you get sacked, you can either start again or reload to your last save game point.

International management is allowed, as you complete this challenge.

Parent clubs and feeder clubs are allowed.

No external utilities such as FMScout should be used and the database should be unedited. Should SI release a data update, this would be allowed. It is advised that people should update using the latest patches as they are released.

Player naming is allowed. (This is a warning for those of you who do not wish to see this)

Discussion on tactics is allowed. (This is another warning for those of you who do not wish to see this)

Screenshots for anything are encouraged.

When you join the challenge, could you post a screenshot of your manager's profile and of anything else of importance.

Progress of your club should be documented using this thread, we want to hear the story of your club all the way through. Please keep us updated, even if you are doing really badly.

At the end of every season, could everyone post some kind of season review, including at least a screenshot of a league table and the clubs transfer page. If you give this a title in bold it makes it a bit easier to pick out.More rules might follow!

121 points, nice!! i'm sure some people will sign up to this soon. there seems to be quite a few people who like to start with leeds. Maybe if you added some more rules to the challenge to make it a little more difficult and interesting. maybe trying and signing players from before, like ferdinand or keane etc? i wish you luck tih this challenge, although from the pictures it seems you dont need it :)

Well done. What tactics do you use?

Plus, I don't think you are getting many reactions because you don't have a well written, well prepared, good-looking challenge. Take a look at some of the other challenges and how they are set out and then edit your first post to make it look more professional and you will get more responses.

People like structure to a challenge.

I just had a few more ideas.

A scoreboard will help and as stated above maybe extra rules for fun such as try and get at least 3 ex Leeds 'legends' to join the club.

Plus, you only state that you have to get to the top flight. Instead make it that you have to win the Prem and win the Champions League.

Hope this improves your challenge.

thx for the replies, i understand your points, but i wanted to be different, because not everyone likes to play by 100 rules... in my opinion, so this is more for people who want good fun to get leeds back on top without to many restrictions.. or do you guys think that is just lame? lol...

i now have a big bug, i took on the job as manager of ivory coast next to leeds... and am playing the world cup. in my friendly is had fake goalkeepers, the grey ones that dont exist.. but now i dont have any keeper at all! and there is no keeper with ivory coast nationality.... so i am playing akale on goal!!! against spain, i lost 2-1 in the last minutes.... very big bug... so i will get kicked out of the world cup, while i would have a good chance of making it to at least quarter final.. i will send an update when i dropped out....

my formation is the 4-4-2 attacking as you wanted to know..

I understand what you mean but if you just put some rules such as no use of Genie Scout on and say that yoy have to take them to the Prem and win it and win the Champs League, I think it would be better.

I had the same problem on 08 and the way I fixed it was that they would ask for say a squad of 26 and I would pick the minimum amount of players that I could and they would give me three grayed out goalkeepers.

i did that lol... still got no GK.. just had squad of 23 players... will you manage thid challenge wit me?

That was a good transfer budget and wage budget as well but once you play a couple of seasons with a club, you get stuck with them and you feel that you cannot leave.

lol agree on that!! well thx for helping managing if more will join.. i already added some rules in first post.. i will have to go now , so we'll see tomorrow how many people already want to join, i hope a lot, cause it's real fun to bring leeds back! tomorrow i will play premier ship with leeds already lol!! :p

Being a Leeds fan I always start of my first game on FM as my beloved team. This year was no different.

I didn't spend a penny all season on any transfers. At the start of the season I requested a parent club, and the board returned with Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle. I recommended Tottenham. I obtained Dervite on loan from them. I also managed to get Randall (Arsenal), Murphy (Sunderland) and Insua (Liverpool) in on season long loans in August.

I have had a pretty good start to my managerial career. I managed to win the League by 3 points - above Swindon.

I also had a fairly decent time in the cups. I managed to win the Johnstones Paint Trophy, beating Barnet 1-0 in the final. I also made it through to the 5th round of the FA cup getting beat 2-1 in a replay aainst Norwich. The league cup threw up some premiership opposition in the form of Newcastle United. They dispatched me easily. 4-1 the final score.

Overall it was a decent season. After seeing Stan Collymores performance I feel I should have done a bit better, but I got the job done.

I have literally just come across this thread, and from now on I will keep you updated with my game more often, rather than just a season summary. :thup:

p.s. I agree with jwb935 and robertlangman. People do like a nice neat, and structured presentation of rules in the opening post. It certainly attracts people to read the thread. :thup:

I did a season the other day with leeds utd which I was really enjoying, then I was totally put off by the totally unrealistic bid I recieved from man city for David Lucas of £16m. Really spoils what could be a very enjoyable challenge.

I think that only occurs with the unpatched version of the game. I tried offloading him because I didnt want him. Offered him to clubs for around £500k and got no bidders.

nice to see more people joining the leeds challenge, i will give an update because i didn,t post screenshots... so here are a few!

and before i will post them.. season update of season one and two including cup info!

Fisrt season.

Coca cola league 1 - Won

Johnstone' Paint trophy - lost final 1-0 against Swindon

League Cup - Lost Quarter final against Arsenal (but have beaten good teams to get there like Sunderland and Blackburn!)

FA Cup - lost against Wigan in third round after I made it to a replay which i was happy with

Second season.

Championship - 3rd but got promotes by winning the play-offs (final against stoke city won after penalties 4-3)

League Cup - Lost second round against Bolton 3-1

FA Cup - Lost fourth round against Man City 3-1

So far with the update... now some nice screens :p

how can they even replace me.. wtf? i brought them back to the premier league in only 2 seasons totally unexpected and am world class reputation manager! and now they want to replace me if the club gets taken over? dont tell me SI messed up AGAIN and my game will get destroyed!!!????? will give update if this will or will not happen... but if it does, i think fm is over for me cause there will be no way i am ever gonna try to build something if it will get destroyed this way.. and my finances are good as well. around 20 million euros.... this cant be true................ :confused:

and because of this crap takeover speculation, i cant even fix my team to be premier ship worthy!! i cant buy any player or whatever... i will relegate anyway even if i don't get sacked when the club gets taken over... :(

UPDATE: because of my credit i won't be replaced.. but they have waited for the first of september to finalize things, so i cant even buy a player while i would have bought kompany and joaquin at least... now my squad lacks quality so i will probably relegate and get sacked anyways...

ok.. short update..

am playing reasonable football, trying to survive in the premier ship.. placed between 18-20... but this was because of my crap squad. now transfer period came, and i bought quality for decent money.. some players are

shaun wright-phillips for free

akinfeev for 10 mil euros

dembele 2,3 mil euros

zokora 1,4 mil euros

salomon kalou 3,4 mil euros (quality player!!!)

and besides them i needed to improve my defence without money so i have insua and rafael (man u) on loan... now won blackburn away 2-1 and man u away 1-0.. but still got owned against arsenal 0-3 and chelsea 3-6..

up to the most important weeks of my game... with a quality injection in my squad!

i surely hope so lol.... now i've won some games and find myself at place 17 with only 2 matches to go..... 2 points ahead of west brom and in 16th place is middlesbrough with the same number of points but a better goal difference.. but my schedule is man u at home and everton away... so there wil not be much hope... but who knows what will happen... i think one win will be enough but it will be hard to win one of those two matches..

So after promotion, I told my boars that I reckoned I could finish mid-table. The ransfer budget was set at £660,000.

My Championship career hasn't started well. I've played 4 games - Drawn 2 (Against Norwich and Birmingham), Lost 2 (Against Wolves, and Watford). I managed to beat Port Vale in the 1st round of the league cup 2-0. I was drawn against Stoke who, after a 0-0 draw, put me out on penalties.

yes i have... for 4 more years! i'm now gonna start my second season in the premier ship.. will be hard, but my very young squad full of talent has developed another year! i don't have enough money to buy much players so i'm concentrating on one striker for 10 mil euros..

i will keep you guys updated, and if anyone has requests for screens, just let me know!

congrats on your promotion! don't feel to bad about the start... i had the same, keep believe in your squad and in the second half of the season you will climb the ladder.. because of the large stadium you will have good income, so in january you will be able to strenghten your squad with about 2 quality players! and keep looking at the transfer list, cause some players are unbelievably good who are listed! and very very cheap!

My best signings to date are a young Irish striker named Bernard Brennan (signed for 26k), Ross Wallace (Signed on a free), and Daryl Murphy (Signed for 170k).

After a terrible start to the season, we're finally on a roll, and climbing up the table. The transfer kitty is pathetic, so it's a lot of 'hit and miss' freebies and loans, aswell as exhausting my scouts. Brennan, though, is a gem, along with Delph.

Yikes, I just turned down 10.25 million for Brennan. I thought the board were going to force the transfer. Phew.

The season finished the same as last; identical points and standings. I need a new keeper. My strikers do OK, but my keeper is letting in an average of one goal per two shots.

been a long time since i've posted, so i've stayed up because of my famous 6 points against man u in my first premier ship season.. now second season is going very very well.. currently after 21 matches i am already in 9th place !!!! having a superb squad and my most recent signings are

all playing superb! so i think next season i'm able to play for uefa cup maybe... if my team will develop and i won't have to sell players.

my formation always was 4-4-2 attacking.. and when behind, change to 4-4-2 or 4-3-3... don't be scared because with attacking football you will get the most out of leeds..

The season hasn't started out too badly. I had a heavy defeat to Watford but that's because I got cocky and went all out for the win. I drew 2-2 with Man City, 0-0 with Arsenal, 5-0 loss to Watford (even though they only had 3 shots on target to my 11) then battered Middlesborough 4-0.

Man Utd upset my goalkeeper by publicly declaring interest over and over again. They tried the same with Fabian Delph and he said he had no intention of leaving. Fabio, Coleman and Brennan are just down right lethal. All 3 of them are, according to the scouts and Asst Manager "leading stars of the premier league in the future". My youth academy also generated what my Assistant said would be "one of the greatest players of his generation". He's a brilliant center back (Gavin Hawthorne, currently only 16)

Yep, I tried asking for either of the two, the board said no. They have 68 million in the bank and won't give anything yet the likes of Watford are splashing 10 million pounds per player. Watford have spent 42 million in transfers this year. I was given 3.2 million.

Still 3 points from safety. It's almost January so I am going looking for loans and freebies. It's a little ridiculous, I have more money than anyone outside the top four, yet it isn't being made available. In 'real life' terms, it would be seen as something along the lines of the board being greedy and happy with relegation.
