I've got my eyes on 5900x but I see weird results up to 1min difference between the same (vaguely) type of PC. I wonder if this is because of overclocking or maybe overheating due to lack of cooling/airflow inside the case.

Any thoughts?

Yeah it could be a whole number of factors from updated drivers to airflow to overclocking.  These benchmarks can be really useful for noticing if you have issues with your setup

can you try Test D to an earlier version of fm, like fm2011. If you run max leagues and settings to see if we get same results . I think SI GAMES need to create the game better to run faster, I mean some of these pc's are the best gaming pc's we can buy also for thousands of $/£. why is it like this.

Comparison over versions never really works, more recent versions are more optimised for recent hardware etc and its hard to replicate the same week in terms of fixtures.

Benchmark D is an absolute extreme too.  I don't think anyone expects it to be that fast.  Should the game be more optimised?  Of course, and if you check out the previous benchmarking threads you will see that leagues that are run in full detail are more optimised.

Also the reality is that 99% of users will never change the default detail level anyway.  Benchmark A & B are the most typical setups

Late to the party, this is my results, attached CPU-Z specs, ran the tests back to back, so maybe this is why it is a bit slower on bench D, but I don't think it can be faster than 5950x.

So I changed my AM4 motherboard to one with Dynamic OC switching. Asus crosshair x570 extreme. The ryzen 5950x now runs on PBO when it is drawing less than 65A and a static overclock of 4.55 all core (still tweaking) when more than 65A

Benchmark A was unchanged as this didn’t use more than 65Ato trigger the all core overclock.

Benchmark B dropped to 5:47 from 6:00

Benchmark C dropped from 7:05 to 6:33.

All other components remained the same.

Hope this helps someone.

That's how I got my scores with my 5950x. I'm surprised more motherboards don't include this feature. I highly recommend it for AMD fans that like to tweak their settings.

There’s only two boards that support the feature: Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero and Asus Crosshair VIII Extreme which cost $790 and $1500 respectively here in Australia. From a pure FM perspective, not sure shaving off 30 seconds in processing time is worth the capital outlay on these motherboards. I may eat my words though when I upgrade my PC however :D

Just an FYI, I have just noticed nearly all the latest Gigabyte Aorus x570 MB releases now offer Gigabyte Active OC tuner, making this OC feature available at a cheaper price than Asus two MB offerings.

Interested in FM22 overall.  Seems quick as ever, although have the benefit of a 5900x.  Same tests year-over-year would be good.

For now it's not quicker. There some issues which slow down the speed (like when you choose to see player stats etc).

Yeah I won't be doing the FM22 thread till the full release, there's a few kinks that need ironing out as far as i can tell

For the FM22 thread, can I suggest a RAM Timings column be added and expressed as CLxx-xx-xx-xx so people can provide this detail for their systems? Would really help when comparing close results to see what RAM timings people have for their RAM.

I’ll ask for it but I’m not sure how many people will even know what it is or how to find it.

My guess is, knowing FM, the latency of the Ram will make little difference but as I say I’ll include it for sure

Edit - you can find the timings on CPU-Z, i'll leave a screenshot here so I remember to mention it in the OP for FM22

Got the new 14" MacBook Pro with 10-Core CPU / 16-Core GPU / 16GB RAM and 1TB Storage today.

Will run benchmarks this week in FM 2022.

I'll have the FM22 thread up and running by full release date so wait till then if I were you

No but my guess would be that it would be near the top end depending on the model and how good the cooling is

I see you've posted in the laptop buying thread too and are looking at the M1 Mac.  I bought one a few months back, never used Mac OS before and its been fine, few things to learn here and there but fine.  Suits my needs because its super portable as I spend a lot of time on trains etc

As smurf alluded to the one you have bought will be great but the M1 will be better its just is it worth the extra cost?

Okay so that's the FM21 benchmarking done then folks, big thanks to all involved!

  • 97 tested
  • 59 Desktops
  • 37 Laptops

I won't draw any particular conclusions about the results, I'll leave that to you folks.

Suffice to say though I do think that FM22 will be a great year for benchmarking as Intel, AMD and Apple all look to have really strong offerings and are as close as they have ever been in terms of competition.

FM22 thread will be out in the next few days

Hello, I just tested my new setup with the old FM 2021 because I had no time to buy the 2023

13700K  (Stock)

32GB Ram

SSD

1080 ti

Benchmark A    1  Minute  11 Seconds

Benchmark B    5 Minutes  24 Seconds

Benchmark C    7 Minutes   0 Seconds

CPU Temperature was 99 C. Try to undervolt and set a power limit.

Could someone advise what this does? Does it run a whole season? I have a Ryzen 5 7600 with 32GB of Memory and a 12GB Radeo RX6700 XT, but I don't have a clue how many leagues I can get away with before it starts to chug. What do the timings mean in the benchmarking? How long it takes to do...what?

Spreadsheet is created to help anyone to check how long it takes for each game setup to complete 1 week of holiday, so people can setup their game accordingly. Now Ryzen 7600 was not there during 2020, hence nearest thing you can compare is 6Core/12Thread, 3.8Ghz base clock based configuration in the list and get a closest idea about the game speed you can get. For example: I see closest timing you can compare is from Ryzen 5600X + 32GB entry in the list. That configuration shows, 1:36 for A, 6:35 for B, 9:16 for C setup.

It means if you follow the same setup, then you can expect similar time when forwarding between weeks (say Sun to Sun) when you play the game. Add your own stoppages (for making some changes, time for "Must Respond" events etc.) on top of that. So, do you thing these timings will work for you? Then you can go to first post of this thread and use the setup used by the same Benchmark file.
