Jogo Bonito
One of the reasons for taking the AGF job was to manage left-back Casper Hojer - so a new contract was sealed for him within the first few days As this being written retrospectively, I'll run through the transfers made in and out (and some other deals that didn't happen) 27th August 2020 - a failed move for Bahrain international striker Yusuf as he rejected the contract to seal a £175k transfer First through the door were a couple of young Norwegian players Ole Martin Kolskogen and Henrik Udahl (both as future prospects) in early September But the first team was boosted on 16th September 2020 when young Peruvian talent Yuriel Celi arrived for just £16.25k from his homeland One day later, American centre-back Chris Richards arrived on loan from Bayern Munich for the season And on 19th September 2020, the free transfer signing of Senegal defensive midfielder Ousseynou Cavin Diagne followed The last signing of the this transfer window was on 28th September 2020 when the club paid £700k on a rookie striker that broke their transfer record This was a real gamble as the kid was very raw and was going to have a fair amount of expectation placed on his shoulders for goals The deal was paused whilst other targets were sounded out, but they didn't come off and so the risk was taken With a work permit granted, it was time to welcome Al Hassan Toure to the club from Adelaide United after a one-month loan to allow the Aussie side to find a replacement A deal for Australian winger Chris Ikonomidis (£575k from Perth Glory) was aborted at the last minute due to his appearance-based wage hike demands But a loan signing the club would have loved to complete unfortunately failed due to a rejected work permit Ukraine striker Vladyslav Supriaha would have been a marvellous asset at £700 p/w wages, but apparently he needed to be earning £750 p/w to get his permit Leaving the club during this period were ex-captain Niklas Backman (£275k to Oostende) and midfielder Mustafa Amini (£170k to FC Midtjylland) The former was over 30 and a bit slow for my liking in central defence, whilst the latter was decent but earning by far the highest wage (over £7000 p/w) Amini was only on a short-term contract until the end of December anyway, so cashing in was economically sensible However, if anyone was upset to see the club captain moved on, a staff appointment of a club favourite might have eased the mood He may not have the best attributes, but the return of Marc Rieper on 30th August 2020 would have gone down well anyway Edited January 15, 2021 by Jogo Bonito

Jogo Bonito
On 5th January 2021 there was a flurry of activity at the club, with two more new arrivals and one departure The man leaving AGF was defender Frederik Tingager who joined fellow Superliga side OB for £275k Inward bound was aforementioned winger Ikonomidis, now available for £250k and reduced wage demands from Perth Glory And finally, the rest of the budget was blown on another rookie striker, this time one from Denmark though Max Fenger had scored 5 in 13 for OB last season, and whilst £975k was a big fee to pay it is hoped the teenager will be a good investment in time Leaving a few days later was Bror Blume who had been marginalised at the club in the first half of the season The Dane left for £250k to join Molde in Norway as the younger players were showing signs that he would not be missed It was still felt that a real top quality striker could make a big difference, and here is one that caused some considerable deliberation Raphael Dwamena almost joined Brighton in 2017 but failed a medical due to a heart condition being detected He then moved to Spain but had to stop playing late in 2019 when more concerns arose over his health He was told to retire but made a comeback after having heart surgery - until again his career was stopped for good in 2020 A deal was done and a medical was passed (we must remember to fire the club doctor) for a pre-contract move in the summer of 2021 But we couldn't shift the thought that this was wrong, and we pulled out of the transfer the next day citing the reasons why below Not every change to staff has been talked about, but we mutually terminated the contract of our Assistant Manager on 25th November 2020 And in his place Kenneth Perez was appointed - a man with a stack of good experience at top clubs in Denmark and Holland (including Ajax) In addition, Kim Hansen and Mark Strudal also came in to perform roles as First Team Coaches Henrik Bogvad (Head Physio) and Janne Moller (Goalkeeping Coach) also joined the staff For the other teams, Cato Andre Hansen (B Team Manager) and Erik Hoftun as B Team Assistant Manager were both hired Rene Petersen was added as a B Team Coach and Martin Laursen arrived as Under 19's Assistant Manager Johan Elmander got the job as new Chief Scout whilst Rene Henriksen, Dan Eggen, Admir Hamzagic, Jorgen Larsen and Marcelo Jose Teixeira all serve as regular Scouts

And so, there were two more signings made a couple of months later as we looked to add some depth and cover from the free agent pool just to see us through the rest of the season Morten Beck (who would be used as right back understudy only) and Martin Hasek (central midfielder) arrived on 8th March 2021 and both are squad players It had always been a plan to sign a lower league Danish player and Beck ticked that box, whilst the Czech had some pretty good attributes and career stats
Jogo Bonito
Well a few posts back it was mentioned that AGF would compete in the Europa League qualifiers Unfortunately that didn't last long at all, despite edging past La Fiorita of San Marino 1-0 in the opening round The luck of the draw was not kind, and Tottenham Hotspur were pitted against us in Round 2 Kane and Bale scored two each as we were dumped out 4-1 in early September So how have we been getting on otherwise? Well, not too bad generally Here are the details as we reach the split after the 22 games of the Preliminary Phase are completed Whilst it might look good, the graph shows that our average position has been 4th/5th and only a few weeks ago did we climb to 2nd for the first time And the league table which shows three of us tied on 40 points, some way behind the leaders and clear favourites from the capital city So we now have a couple of weeks to prepare for the 10-match Championship Group series, which starts on 1st April 2021

Isak Pettersson - Starts at IFK Norrkoping FK in Season 1 Can be signed on a free transfer on January in 1st season. It seems like Isak Pettersson may have random PA? I started a save as Anderlecht, and approached him. He wanted to be Star Player. In a second save, he wanted back-up. That's a pretty big leap. However, both times my scouts has said he would be a quality signing.

Jogo Bonito
As the Danish top flight split in to two groups of six after 22 league games, it was time to test ourselves against the best sides over 10 games With all points carried forward, we were 2nd but ahead of two other sides only on goal difference But as you can see, the form was largely good and we managed to win seven (with two draws and just one defeat) in this series of games Included in this was home and away wins over the champions from the capital, helping us to cut the final gap to six points by the close That delivers Champions League football to Aarhus (qualifying stage anyway) which is a great achievement after just one season We lost in the Semi Final of the DBU Pokalen on away goals to Brondby, who went on to win the Cup Final Here are the final standings of the Championship Group (was unable to get the full table showing) And here is a quick summary of the season including performance graph, best player stats, team stats and financial position Here is a run down of the players who served us during the season (across all competitions) Al Hassan Toure hit a purple patch when given a few more chances at the end of the season, which was pleasing to see and he always looked lively when on the pitch What was surprising (in a bad way) was the lack of assists from the wingers who were always playing in advanced positions They scored enough and contributed (particularly Gift Links), but it fell on my attacking left-back and set-piece specialist to create the majority of goals Central defender Chris Richards was always reliable, target man Patrick Mortensen did quite well, and Yuriel Celi was superb in the No. 10 role Here are the player stats, showing our best team and our usual 4231 formation And the end of season player awards, with key man Casper Hojer rightly voted best player by the fans And finally a brief commercial summary showing the numbers there Edited January 17, 2021 by Jogo Bonito

Would never happen in real life We have a joke in Aarhus, that as soon as AGF wins their first league match, everyone thinks they'll win the Champions League xD I comes from the fans never giving up, despite the team disapointing us for year after year (latest trophy was in 1996), but with a great UEFA Cup run to follow. A cup final and a third place finish in recent years, has however restored faith amongst the fans. Something like the San Marino challenge, but with a bigger country. I'm not sure how long it's going to take but I'm pretty excited about making the nation better and improving the quality of youth generated in the country too Save going well so far, about 2/3rds through the season, 17W 5D 1L in the league, on an 11 match winning streak, and 15 points ahead of 2nd place. Did pretty poorly in Europe, got knocked out in the 2nd qualifying round of the champions league, and then the playoff to make the group stage of the europa league was lost as well. Not too dissapointed, though, as it is only my first season and at that point team cohesion & tactical familiarity were still pretty low and I hadn't figured out how I wanted to play yet. Currently play a high-tempo, attacking, direct, style and we're banging in the goals, 24 in our last 9 games.

Gungner
So... Gone with Anderlecht, and it's going... well, I suppose. The finances are awfull, and we're currently £20 million in the red, and counting. We need to make the Champions League this year! In the league, it's pretty much a two-team race, with Club Brügge going insane, scoring 4 or 5 goals a match. Only made one signing, a young american on a free transfer. Three players coming in on January 1st: Matias Arezo £1,6 mil, Isak Pettersson Free, Sigurd Grønli Free

Yeah, Guindo is getting some games off the bench, as Nmecha is simply superb atm., with 14 goals in 12 matches. And I do plan on eventually selling Verschaeren and Arezo for big bucks. Luckily, 95% of the transfers I have my eye on in the summer, is gonna be free, as they have contract expiry in the summer of 2021. So hopefully, I can keep the money spending at a minimum and sell a few off for some hopefully big money. Yeah just be weary that even though they are free transfers they will still cost the club in wages, signing on fees etc. I assume you knew this anyway but just saying just in case. Nmecha was immense for me and I managed to sign him on a permanent deal. Also try sign his brother who is also very good.
Ewan0404
I have just started a game as my hometown Cowdenbeath in League Two in Scotland. I was going to create a Scottish thread but may as well start in here.

Obviously post in here if you don't want the hassle of making one and good luck with Cowdenbeath.

He's my number one target, but both Club Brügge and Benfica are interested in him... So I might not get him.

Ewan0404
Aberdeen Season One I have decided that my latest challenge will be to try and break the Old Firm dominance in Scotland. They are the third most successful club in Scotland having won the top flight 4 times but not since 1985. They have also won 13 domestic cups to go along with the 1983 UEFA Cup Winners Cup that they won with Alex Ferguson at the helm. Below are the trophies won under Sir Alex. So all in all I have some big boots to fill. I will get my transfer news up soon.
Ewan0404
I inherited a pretty good squad at the start of the game and didn't think I needed to make any real transfers apart from signing a striker as our main striker Cosgrove is out injured for the first few months of the season. We brought in Jón Daði Böðvarsson on a year long loan deal with an option to buy from Millwall. We begin the season with no real pre season as we have the Europa League qualifiers to contend with as shown below. We were unlucky to lose out in the 3rd qualifying round, losing 14-13 on penalties. I will do another update shortly at the end of the January transfer window. Edited February 1, 2021 by Ewan0404
