Jimbokav1971
As some of you might be aware, I'm not really enjoying FM21 at the moment. I don't feel able to continue with my R&D save or anything that deep, so that's South American Journeyman out and I've also struggled to find anywhere new I want to manage. I've had a look at Edited databases for both Spain and Germany, (by Sangue Blu) but of course I don't feel able to delve into a deep save so as well as ruling R&D out, it also rules those out too. While looking at edited databases The official Gibraltar database caught my eye and I thought that might be an interesting option to keep me going while I wait for some of the issues I've encountered to be resolved. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about serious game-breaking bugs. Just really small, petty, annoying bugs that you can workaround, but which I don't want to. I play quite quickly and want to delegate stuff, but I seemingly can't delegate anything at the moment. I'm not sure if I will go back to R&D or start a lower level save somewhere else, but when and if some of these issues get resolved I do plan on going somewhere and doing something more in-depth. Until then I'm going to try and hammer through some seasons in Gibraltar and see if it can keep my interest. Apologies if the above link is to a bit of a negative comment. I appreciate that loads of you are loving the game, (and the ME is spectacular), but for those of you who play like me..... I wonder if you are feeling the same way. Anyway. here we go. Popular Post DazRTaylor
I always like reading stories about Gibraltar, as I used to live there in the mid 80's. A true story: My Dad was in the RAF and was a qualified referee. The final game of the league season in 1985 was the top two playing at Victoria Stadium, which from memory is next to the airport. The winner won the league. A capacity crowd would be present and it was going to be live on Gibraltar TV. The league didn't trust local officials and asked the armed forces to provide the officials. So an Army guy was the referee, a Navy guy was one linesman and my Dad was the other. In the last minute of injury time, one player was clean through and scored, but my Dad had flagged for offside so it was ruled out. The player stormed up to my Dad and assaulted him, live on TV! Needless to say he was sent off and got a life ban. Completely irrelevant to your save, but a fun and very true story nonetheless.

Jimbokav1971
Season 1 Summary. Youth Intake preview. Youth Intake. National League. 1 loss in the league meant that we didn't manage an unbeaten league season. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. Disaster. Europe. I can't really complain about losing to a French side. I was pretty impressed that we were even competitive. Appearances. Finances. Our European campaign may have brought in Approx £900k in prize money, but we still only have £590k in the bank so we are far from rolling in money. We are unlikely to get past any big Nations sides so we need to build the GIB coefficient to progress further. Records. Jimbokav1971
Season 2 Summary. Youth Intake preview. Youth Intake. (22a) Haigh looks decent and I would play him this season but we're currently unbeaten un domestic competition and I'm chasing that 1st unbeaten domestic season. (22c) Pollock looks to be a 2nd decent central midfielder. A little weak physically, but there are decent signs there. (22j) Knibbs looks is the 1st decent striker we have produced and I think he's well capable of scoring goals at domestic level, (or at least will be in a couple of years). Pepe Reyes Cup. National League. I was hoping to go unbeaten in the league, but having to holiday so many games I'm not sure how realistic it is. We managed it with ease in the end and only drew 3 games. The aim is to win all 21 games at some point and concede single-digit goals to start with, but as we lose our experienced players and transition to a full Academy based team. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. Disaster, (again). Europe. Squad by Appearances. Finances. We've got £1.3M in the bank but I didn't want to spend it on Facility upgrades because I want to keep it in the bank so the board don't get involved in ridiculous transfer offers. At the moment our players aren't good enough to generate any income so there is no point in selling them. I have just turned down a few bids and would rather that our best players leave on a free later, than leave for a pittance now. £1.7M income from prize money has put us in a good place, but we need more of the same again next season, (and ideally a little bit better). Facilities. We upgraded x2 in the 1st season and I managed to force through another single upgrade this season, but I can't remember what. Junior Coaching is maxed out so I'm guessing that's what was upgraded this season. I've had the option to upgrade both Training Facilities and Youth Facilities, but have held off for a while as we build our bank balance. Next season I will look to upgrade at least the Youth Facilities and hopefully Junior Coaching too. Records. Best XI. Overall best XI. If this is how they want it to appear than I don't agree, but at least they can look at it again and decide. I'm reporting absolutely everything this year. They need to understand how much more they have missed in comparison to a normal issue of the game. I appreciate that remote working and #Covid19uk will have had an impact this year, but at the same time I don't think what they have given us is good enough. Jimbokav1971
Season 3 Summary. Youth Intake preview. We need a GK, but we really need a centre-half and a striker. Youth Intake. It's really not a good intake. I was desperate for a centre-half and a striker and got neither. (23a) Cooper DLP looks like he has something to offer, although I will have to retrain him to play further back. Pepe Reyes Cup. National League. We have struggled at times this season with a lack of options up front. We really are desperate for a striker or 3. That was largely the reason we lost 2 games in the 2nd half of last season and eventually only won the league by 2 points from a resurgent Europa FC. As we transition from an experienced ageing squad full of Internationals to a younger squad of homegrown talent I think it's to be expected that our performances may suffer and we might even not win the title. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. We finally won this trophy for the 1st time. Europe. What a shambles this was. We exited the Champions League so early that we skipped right over the Euro Cup and landed in the Euro Conference. I didn't even know that was possible. Squad by Appearances. We will be weakened more next season as both Hernandez (ENG) and Yahaya (GHA) will be leaving us and moving abroad. Finances. I wanted to keep at least £1M in the bank to keep the board away from selling players. We need a better run in Europe to boost our finances again. Facilities. I've managed to force through another much-needed Junior Coaching upgrade, but have held off upgrading the facilities because of poor performance in Europe and lower than expected prize money receipts. Hopefully we will do better this season and I can upgrade at least the Youth Facilities. Records. Chino (Perfect) beat the league record for 11 clean sheets in the league in a season, and also beat the record of 14 clean sheets at the club in all competitions. I hope to improve on both of those next season. Best XI. Overall best XI. Edited December 3, 2020 by Jimbokav1971

Jimbokav1971
1st Academy product capped. Jun 2023. (22a) Haigh probably doesn't look great to many of you who haven't managed in a league like Gibraltar, but I can promise you that he's already decent. The fact that he is only at 2.5 CA and has 5.0 PA suggests that there is significant room for growth, and his average rating and goal/assist contributions suggest that he's already well capable at domestic level. I didn't have any players suitable for the DPL role in my 1st season, but he looks great. Jimbokav1971
Transfers in a Youth Only save. Sep 2023. While this is absolutely a Youth Only save, (in so much as I will only ever sign players who are produced by the Academy of this club), I operate slightly different to many in that I am happy to re-sign players who leave, (just so long as they are a product of our Academy), and that goes for players who are produced before I took over. I couldn't find anyone at all who was produced by our Academy, (which I thought was pretty strange), and I decided that I would report it as a bug so went about explaining exactly what my search parameters were and that's when I realised what I had done. It all looked fine to me. Until I checked the "Trained at club" menu. I had somehow clicked on this option in error, and it was giving me a nil return. As soon as I used the 2nd Trained at club option, I had 40 players on my list. This was the name that really jumped out at me. I recognised him as having scored against me, (more than once), but also because we were warned about him in a pre-match media interaction. Sure enough, he came through our Academy. We have a few quid in the bank so I asked the DoF to sign him and to my surprise he actually arranged a deal for £77k. And then the Chairman got involved. I haven't seen this before so thought I would show you how it works. We discussed it and discussed it and discussed it some more. And then they said no again.
DaneBramage
That seems a bit backwards. Not selling a player to a fierce rival makes 100% sense, but I'm not convinced by not buying one. That was my thinking. I assumed that I would just protest the cancellation and they would agree, but they dug their heels in until the only option left was "I'm not sure if I can continue to do my job bla bla" and I wasnt prepared to say that. To put things into perspective, £77k is a good sized transfer fee in Gibraltar. I've sold a player for £98k I think, but it's certainly not going to bankrupt us. We had £1M in the bank at the start of the season, are well within wage budget and we have done pretty well in Europe this season, (so we have significantly more than £1M in the bank now), while £77k might be a lot of money to them, it's honestly small change to us. This player is 19 years old, will immediately be our best striker and they are going to find it hard to bring in a similar quality replacement. To add to that he's classed as HG at club. I wouldn't call this a bug exactly, but I don't think it's working as intended either. If it's such a big deal, how did he leave us and join them on a free in the first place, (like he did in real life). I suppose we are comparing this to real life and that's where it's falling slightly short. I'm going to raise it as a bug anyway, and the SI boffins can decide whether they think it's right or not. I love that stuff like this is in the game so I'm not complaining. Was just posting it because I hadn't seen it before.
Jimbokav1971
40+ players called up for INT Duty. Jun 2024. This is the 1st time our call-ups have reached 40+. (22c) Pollock * may only have 4.5 PA but just look at that passing and technique. (22a) Haigh * might look decent and have 5.0 PA, but his Low.Det has hindered his development. He's still better than decent, but I need to get his Det up to develop him quicker. (23a) Cooper * DLP is someone who I wanted to play as a DLP, but he had no suitability at all to play in the MC slot when he came through. He has played many of his games up front due to the paucity of attacking options at the club and the hectic fixture schedule. (24k) Jon Farrell is a bit of a surprise and by bit of a surprise I mean HUGE shock. He hasn't even played a senior game, only has 2.5 PA and has already been called up to the full National side. That could either suggest that the 2.5 PA is wrong and he's higher, or it could just be an indication of a lack of centre-backs in Gibraltar. Either way I have immediately moved him up to the First Team.
Jimbokav1971
Season 4 Summary. Youth Intake preview. We STILL really need a centre-half and a striker. I would perhaps prefer 2 centre-backs and no striker. I forgot to take a picture of the preview. Sorry. Also no save to go back and check. Youth Intake. This looks a pretty poor intake when I start to look at the individual players. Yeah the top players have significant growth, but there are lots of unambitious personalities at the top of the list and the only thing worse than unambitious is unambitious twinned with low determination and we have 3 of them near the top of the list too. Really not good. Not good at all. (24b) Marcus Jones will immediately be one of the best strikers at the club and will obviously go into the senior squad. Pepe Reyes Cup. National League. A 2nd undefeated league campaign. Too many goals conceded though. Our defence needs strengthening and our only decent GK says he's retiring. Just the 3 draws and 0 losses this season is great, but we conceded 3 goals twice, (albeit winning both games). Our GK is the weakest area of the squad, then our defence. Our midfield is strong and our attack is adequate. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. We were battered in the Final. Telling the lads I expected to win wasn't the best advice. Europe. The conversion from an ageing squad to youngster continues at a furious pace to such an extent that we only have 9 players who can be registered for European competition. We have to register U21 players in order to get us to the minimum of 15 players. We only won 2 games in Europe this season, but those wins got us to the BATE game and 2 late goals in the 2nd leg sneaked us through on away goals. I don't really care that we won so few games or only got to the Group Stage of the Euro Conference. It's a HUGE achievement and big money at this stage of the save. Squad by Appearances. Finances. We're looking pretty good here. £6.5M in the bank and a transfer kitty of £2.6M+. It's important to remember in a save like this that our main source of income will come from European prize money because our gate receipts are so low. Even if the board was to build a new stadium, I doubt the attendances would increase by much. The prize money from Europe made the difference this season. Facilities. I've tried twice this year to upgrade the Youth Facilities but the board have refused on both occasions. I don't want to upgrade the Training Facilities at this stage because because it will be too expensive. Records. Best XI. Overall best XI. Jimbokav1971
Season 5 Summary. Youth Intake preview. Youth Intake. What an absolutely pants intake. Pepe Reyes Cup. National League. Largely as a result of playing a weakened team in the Euro Conference Group Stage, we won all 11 of the 1st phase games, conceding only 3 goals in the process. I would love to concede less than 7 goals in the 2nd phase, or to not concede more than 1 goal in any league game, but either way our defensive stability has been much improved and I need to mention the arrival/return of Yeo * who has been instrumental in our improvement. On the plus side we conceded single figure goals, (which is brilliant), and nobody scored more than a single goal against us in any game, but we still lost a game. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. We won this without conceding a goal. Europe. It was brilliant to get through to the Group Stage of the Euro Conference and I will completely admit that I fielded a weakened team in all but the last game, (which we won). Getting there won us the prize money I wanted. I didn't care about anything else once we got there. That will change as we become more competitive, but at the moment it's just about getting there and adding to the bank balance. Squad by Appearances. (23l) Campbell * played in every single game. We had 4 players score 10+ goals and (22j) Knibbs * doubled the previous record of club goals in a season, (16-32). Finances. Facilities. Records. Best XI. Overall best XI. Transfers. Verjaque was signed on a whim. I wasn't sure how much impact he would have, but thought I would take advantage of him being available on a free by getting him in. Yeo * was a brilliant signing for us. Better than any of our other centre-backs, signed on a free, a current starting International, and only 22 years old. Really chuffed to get him in. Michael Ruiz was really signed because I was unable to sign Borge *. Edited December 4, 2020 by Jimbokav1971
Jimbokav1971
Gibraltar clubs in Europe (updated). Lincoln Red Imps. 2020. We're doing quite well as far as our development in Europe is concerned. I'm in no rush to try and win thing and getting to a group stage was the 1st big target because of the income. While I would like to get out of the the Euro Conference group in the not too distant future, I think what will probably happen is that we will qualify for the Euro Cup Group instead. Then the aim will be to finish 3rd and drop into the Knockout stages of the Euro Conference. It's the same end result, but with more money. 2021. 2022. 2023. 2024. Europa FC. They've dropped off a little over the last couple of seasons after a decent start to the save. 2020. 2021. 2022. 2023. 2024. St Joesph's. I was aware that ourselves and Europa FC were the big boys in Gibraltar, but I wasn't aware that St Joseph's were next in line. Jimbokav1971
Release clause met. Jan 2026. Our main striker has been (22j) Knibbs (F.Det) * for a couple of seasons now and he is absolutely filling his boots. At the halfway point of the season he has already scored 26 goals from 19 appearances and that's even with me resting him on occasion. He doesn't look that good, but every time he gets the ball we seem to score. I have mentioned elsewhere that I think "balance" is a key attribute in attacking players, and his performances would seem to back that up again. Although he has only scored 54 league goals in 46(10) league appearances, he has actually scored 81 goals in 77(18) appearances. I like his PPM's and have worked hard on both them and his personality. He's only 20 years old and it's a shame to lose him, but that's the way it goes I suppose. I knew about the clause, (it was the only way he would sign a new contract), and that's why I signed Michael Ruiz, (who is nowhere near as good but will do a job I'm sure). I know we're a few seasons into the save now and I would have expected to be in a better position, but the intakes just haven't been good enough. We are hammering domestic competition, but not quite making the strides in Europe I had hoped. This is everyone at the club who can play striker. TdB plays as the support striker on the right. (22j) Knibbs (F.Det) * is the star man who will shortly be on his way. (23a) Cooper (Res) * DLP can play up front in a pinch but I don't see him as a striker. Valarino is a right winger. (24b) Jones * is the heir to the throne, but has lots of developing to do. Shay Jones (F.Amb) MR is a right winger. (25f) Stephen Marshall is a left winger. (25d) Cole Abraham came through the intake last season and is still pretty raw and lacking physically. Ruiz was signed, (or re-signed to be more accurate), last season and I think he will play a lot of games over the next couple of seasons. I look at his physicals and everything looks great..... apart from "balance" and what was I just saying about that? (24g) Cameron Robinson is a player I haven't paid much attention to so far, but I like his physicals. He's not going to tear it up, but he might be able to do a job while someone else has a rest. Jimbokav1971
Season 6 Summary. Youth Intake preview. It appears better than last season, but not by much. Youth Intake. It's the 1st Golden Generation we have had in a while, but it doesn't look very "Golden" if you ask me. The personalities are decent for this stage of the save though. (26b) Watson (F.Det) looks to be a real star and a much needed centre-half. (26c) Faulkner looks mightily impressive. Pepe Reyes Cup. National League. Gibtelecom Rock Cup. Europe. I'm happy with this in Europe. Of course I prioritised the league. This was all about the money. We need to develop our facilities and improve the squad. Squad by Appearances. Finances. Facilities. Records. Best XI. Overall best XI. Transfers.
Jimbokav1971
Coefficients. Jun 2036. We're doing ok, but it seems as if we still have a long way to go. I know that once we start performing in Europe, progress can gather speed rapidly.

6 minutes ago, Jimbokav1971 said: This isn't working as intended. It just can't be. I want to sign him myself, but I feel I have to sign him for someone else. I'm either going to use the editor to add him to another GIB club, or I'm going to add a 2nd Manager to another GIB club and just sign him and then resign. I don't really feel comfortable doing this but I feel I have to do something. Any suggestions?
