Yeah, things are going ok in Europe, (albeit slowly). 

I had to appoint some staff myself because the Chairman/DoF wsan't recruiting anyone. 

The last intake I had was surprisingly decent in terms of personalities. 

2 of the Casciaro bros were kept on (1 of them is Resolute). I think there is at least a 3rd brother. 

Our old GK is a Perfectionist. 

The HoYD is F.Pro.

the U21 manager is F.Det.

To start off with it was just bums on seats really. I could probably do better now our reputation has been boosted.

No worries. I'm also doing a Gibraltar save, but with Europa FC. I'm finding working with the homegrown matchday and work permit rules really interesting!

I was confused as hell because at 1 point I thought there had been a hard Brexit as all the Spanish players needed a WP and didn't have one, (but English players didn't), and I thought I was going to have to release them but after them not playing for a bit I chanced by arm on applying for a WP and it was agreed so I just got all 4 of them agreed. They didn't last long though. 

The squad number selection is a right pain in the bum.

Last season was a Golden Generation I think and they were all pish. Christ only knows what this lot are going to be like. never seen anything like this before.

Youth Intake Day experiment. Mar 2027. 

This is our Youth Intake Preview and I think you will agree that is spectacularly rubbish. 

Because it's so rubbish, I thought it might offer the opportunity to delve back into a little experiment again. 

We know from my Rushden save, that CA/PA is not set in stone from the date of date of the preview, but what we don't know is how much it changes. 

Right, before I go any further, I want to tell you that I am NOT going to be using any of the Youth Intakes. As I write this now I have just had the intake for the very 1st time and this is what I will use going forward. I'm NOT going to be looking at the CA/PA of that because I don't want to know how good/bad they are. What I am going to do is run 10 intakes from the day before and see what we can learn from this. 

This is the 1st intake, (actually it's the 2nd), and we will be using it as a base to judge the other 9 against. Despite the appalling preview, I'm actually being told that this group could have a Real chance of developing into a Golden Generation. 

I usually rank this screen by PPA, but for the sake of this experiment I'm going to rank them by PA. 

This is the 2nd intake. This one indicates a so called Golden Generation.

This is the 3rd intake. This one is a so called Golden Generation.

This is the 4th intake. This one is a so called Golden Generation. 

This is the 5th intake. Another so called Golden Generation.

This is the 6th intake. Another "so called Golden Generation. 

This is the 7th intake. Another so called Golden Generation.

This is the 8th intake. This time they have a real chance of developing into a Golden Generation.

This is the 9th intake. Another with a real chance to become a Golden Generation.

This is the 10th intake. Back to a so called Golden Generation.

Once again, I appreciate that this is a tiny study, and any conclusions that we draw from this are likely to be indications rather than something set in stone. That being said, an indication is better than nothing right? 

The 1st thing I want to look at is the way they are named. I have long wondered if the difference in wording of the intakes indicates sub-levels with regards to quality. In this particular instance, (that all came from the most appalling Youth Intake Preview that I have ever seen, all 10 intakes were a "Golden Generation", (and indeed the 1st one that I will be playing was classed as a Golden Generation too. 

We had 3 intakes labelled a "real chance to become a Golden Generation". 

We had 7 intakes labelled a "so called Golden Generation". 

I don't know about anyone else, but I think that the 1st label sounds better than the 2nd, so let's see if that's the case. 

Real chance (3 intakes). 96, 92, 91, 91, 84, 82, 82, 82, 80, 80. (7 players with 80+ PA). 

So called (7 intakes). 94, 93, 92, 91, 88, 88, 88, 87, 87, 85, 83, 81, 80. (13 players with 80+ PA). 

I thought I was on to something here, but the 10th intake was a "so called" and had players of 94, 91 & 87 PA. 

Unfortunately I don't think there is enough information here, (or difference), to add weight to my opinion that the "titles" of intakes give an indication of their strength. I think it, but I don[t know it. 

The 2nd thing I want to look at is the type of players that are coming through. Just from posting the above screenshots I know that there were 2 strikers often at the top of the list by PA, and that 1 of them was often a TM. So let's have a look at that. I couldn't fit height on here unfortunately, so we will have to make do with roles. 

Gibson. TM, AFx2, PF, Px5, DLF

Wilkinson. AFx2, Px7, TM

I usually get loads of AF's through the intakes because I play with double AF's, but in this save I have adapted things slightly and am playing with a P and a DLF. While it's of no surprise at all to see so many P's coming through, it is very much a surprise to see just 1 single DLF from 2 players over 10 intakes. 

The 3rd thing I want to look at is the range of personalities. Is it completely random of is there maybe some sort of core starting point? For this I'm going to look at Webb-Ross for no other reason than he is the GK. I'm going to look at his Det and Personality each time.

I think this possibly suggests that it's completely random and that there is no "starting point" that is then influenced by other factors. This is backed up when I look at players with greed Determination scores. Of the 9 green Determination scores, all 9 are recorded by different players. Again, this suggests that my idea that players were created at 1 point from the preview and then "edited" according to things such as relationships and influences is false. I'm wrong. 

The 4th thing I want to look at is how often the PPA report is wrong. We all know that I keep banging on about this, so let's have a look and see of I can use this as another example. We already know that there are 8 players who scored 90+ and a further 15 who scored between 80-90. 

Let's see how many PPA stars they were given. 

First the 90+ group. The problem here is that I don't know what the CA of my current players are to gauge this against, but we have been smashing out upgrades left, right and centre-so I would suggest that 80-90 CA is probably right at the very top end of the best players in my squad. I'm suggesting that these 8 players all have the potential to be better than the best players currently at the club, but they are being rated on average 3.5 PA stars, with just 2 given 4.0 stars and 1 given as low as 3.0 stars.

I'm not sure this even suggests anything, but I've got something in my head, (possibly from a @_Ben_save), that is telling me that in general, better players, (relatively speaking of course), will have better personalities. Do we know that, or do I just think I know it? It's late and I'm not sure. 

As usual I have given you very little in terms of concrete evidence, and obviously asked far more questions than I have answered, but I think what I have done is shown quite how significant the difference between 1 Youth Intake and another from the same Youth Intake preview can be. When you make a statement like that, (which I think is perfectly reasonable based on the above), it might suggest that everything is completely random and that's not how I understand it. 

Here are a few more questions for you.

• Does having a poor personality make it more likely that the Ass Man will look at the player and think his PA is worse than it is? 
• Does having a good personality make it more likely that the Ass Man will look at the player and think his PA is better than it is? 
• Of the 160 players shown, only 25 are lefties and only 8 more are Either footed. Are we putting too low a price on good "lefties" in comparison to good "righties"? 
• If there can be such variation in the Intakes from 1 day to the next, what on Earth is the point in the preview? 
• If all the above 10 intakes came from the same preview, what on Earth is the point of the preview? 
• I ask again, what on Earth is the point of the preview? 

Anyone interested in pointing out anything that I have missed here, please feel free, (or alternatively tell me to stop boring everyone).

The return of the goal-scoring GK? May 2027. 

I'm not completely sure why I didn't start with my GK's taking pens and free-kicks this season, but I didn't. 

I suppose it was a mixture of expecting this to be a relatively short-lived save, but also because there are so few league games in a season that it wasn't very likely that we would be able to score many. 

Britto (DET) only has 1 year left on his contract and isn't interested in renewing, but he has made me change my mind. 

He has featured in a total of 32(2) games this season and has scored 21 goals, 17 of which have been penalties from 19 penalties taken. (1 other player also took 1 penalty this season). Being awarded 20 penalties in a season is just too many for me to not start letting my GK have a go.

Season 7 Summary. 

Youth Intake preview. The worst Youth Intake preview I have ever seen. 

Youth Intake. Yet the preview somehow converts into a a "so-called Golden Generation". 

(27j) Simon Warren (Driven) might be the 10th ranked player by PA, but he's actually the player than most caught my eye. Let's hope his PA is better than the Ass Man thinks. 

(27b) Wilkinson (Pro) is the 1st of 2 strikers and is ready to play straight away. Composure is an issue but I'm sure I will find a PPM or 2 to try and hide that. This bloke is going to score a LOT of goals. 

(27c) Gibson isn't as good as the above striker, but I've no doubt he will impact significantly for us. 

Pepe Reyes Cup.

National League. We didn't concede a single goal in the opening 9 games, and then concede 2 against Europa FC. We conceded 7 over 21 matches in the end, but our old friends Europa FC scored 5 of them. I'm hoping that as other clubs start to improve, this will actually become harder rather than easier. 

For those who have read my previous comments about Borges *, (who refused to join us even while a free agent), I added him to St Joseph's squad as a free agent and he obviously scored against us during the last game of the season. 

Gibtelecom Rock Cup. I know I shouldn't be, but I'm actually happy that Europa FC beat us in this. I don't want it to be so easy that every game is a foregone conclusion, and certainly against them it isn't. 

Europe. I was determined that we were going to do better in Europe this season and had my sights set on the Champions league Group stage. Red Star (I was Team Partizan even before this), were too string for us though, and we dropped into the Euro Cup. After a 4-1 home win against Sarajevo I was basking in the glory of the Euro Cup Group stage when they went and overturned the deficit, knocking us out on away goals. We still had another chance though. I was sure we were going to progress through the Euro Conference Group and all we needed was a point in the last game at home to Olympiakos, but a sending off in the 2nd min of the game scuppered our plans and we fell short yet again. 

We still haven't got into a Group Stage other than the Euro Conference and we still haven't got out of the Euro Conference Groups.

Transfers. I don't expect to see any big money transfers in the next few seasons. At the moment I'm keeping players as long as I can and then just letting them leave on a free at the end of their contract. Keeping them for 1 extra season is worth more than any pittance I might receive for them. The money we would receive in terms of a transfer fee pales in comparison to the money we get for progressing in Europe and we just need to accept that and let them move on if they want. If we were in a bigger league I would be selling players for relatively low fees with significant sell-on clauses, but the players we are working with, (even our best players), are just never going to generate that sort of money.

Introduction to the best players at the club. May 2027. 

(23l) Campbell * is the 1st choice GK and likely to be so for some time to come. 

Britto (Det) is our 1st choice left back and was our penalty taker, but he has taken his last penalty and this coming season will be his last as he will be moving on as a free agent at the end of next season. 

(22i) Bromage * is our 1st choice right back, but he was nowhere near as good this season as he was last, (although that might be because he was playing in Europe for the 1st half of this season). 

(26b) Watson (F.Det) is the best defender we have produced and I have high hopes of him. 

Yeo * is a centre-back who wasn't at the club when I took over, but I managed to bring him back as he was a previous product of our Academy. 

Verjaque is our 1st choice left winger, but it's the weakest area of our squad after we lost Torrilla ML in December. Again, he was brought back to the club as a previous product of our Academy. I will be looking for youngster (27d) Allen ML to make an impact next season. 

(23a) Cooper (Res) * DLP is one of our best players and while I want to play him as a DLP, he has often had to play up front because of a shortage of options there, and even this season the Ass Man kept picking him on the left flank. I don't think I have allowed him to play on the left at all, but maybe just maybe that's not such a bad idea......

(22c) Pollock (F.Det) * probably just gets the nod over (22a) Haigh * in the other midfield slot. I prefer (22c) Pollock (F.Det) * but (22a) Haigh * seems to be performing better. I think that's to do with who plays where when (23a) Cooper (Res) * DLP plays in midfield though. Either way it's a real area of strength.

Shay Jones (F.Amb) MR is someone the Ass Man wants to play "wrong-sided" on the left, (and I have agreed on occasion), but I see him as my 1st choice on the right. 

TdB can play in a few different positions and roles for us, and does a job, however is not as prolific as other players. 

(24b) Jones * is my current 1st choice striker, but he hasn't yet hit the heights of our previous strikers, (who scored at better than a goal a game). He's young though, and I fully expect him to score more goals next season than he did this.

Yep. It's strange though. I've never had such a variance in previous issues of the game. I knew "something" wasn't quite right so I was looking for it, and the awful preview gave me the perfect opportunity. It's exactly the same as the way I found the Facilities bug in FM20. I knew "something" wasn't right, but it's hard getting info from SI so just because you think something doesn't mean you can prove it. 

There are a few other things concerning me, but I want to wait for the right opportunity to dig in and have a look. 

I'm tempted to go all-in on the penalty taking attribute.

Season 8 Summary. 

Youth Intake preview. What positions was I looking for? A striker of course, a left winger and a quick centre-half would do nicely. 

Youth Intake. No 5.0 PA players is a little disheartening if I'm completely honest, but maybe they will be 5.0 players in the next week or so after we get to have a better look at them. 

(28c) Ibrahim (Bal) looks amazing.  I'm not sure how he is only 2.0 CA looking like that. 

(28e) Gordon (F.Amb) also looks good, albeit weaker physically. Both these strikers have green values for both shooting and heading and I don't think we previously had a single squad member with either of these attributes showing green. I don't like his PPM though. That's going to have to go. He doesn't suit dropping deep at all. 

Pepe Reyes Cup.

National League. I'm going to stop showing the domestic league fixtures because this save is all about Europe now. I'm not saying we will never lose in the league again, (we did actually), but we won't lose very often. 

Gibtelecom Rock Cup. 

Europe. We did it again. We choked. 

I was adamant we were going to make the Champions League Group stage,, but we were decimated by injuries at the start of the season and even when our strikers came back they struggled for fitness and the damage was done. We lost to KuPS of Finland when we should have won with ease, but we just couldn't put the ball in the net. So we dropped into the Euro Cup and this time I was determined not to be denied. Başakşehir ran us close, but we eventually beat them 6-5 on aggregate, with (23a) Cooper (Res) * DLP scoring 5 of the goals filling in up front. That took us to the Euro Cup Group Stage for the 1st time and I was really keen to finish 3rd and drop into the Euro Conference knockout stages, but we were found just a little short.

Finances. You might notice that the Facility upgrades are pretty hefty in price now that we are nearing the top end. I hope we start seeing a return in terms of Youth Intakes because we've invested a hell of a lot of cash into the Facilities and at some point we need to see a return.

I've finally had a new stadium named after me. 

Because we have spent £7M on a new stadium though, we don't have enough cash to improve the Training Facilities. (I'm not complaining though).

Top goal-scorers. 

For a few different reasons, I thought I would do a separate post on top goal-scorers. 

The 1st thing to mention is that my GK (23l) Campbell * is taking penalties again and he scored 15 of 18 penalties this season. (His penalty taking attribute is 2). 

(23l) Campbell * was our joint top scorer. 

So while we were sharing our goals about between a number of different players, who was the top goal-scorer in the league? 

(21f) Peter Wiles. is obviously a product of our Academy, and doesn't look anything special. He scored 1 goal from 2(3) appearances with us as I didn't rate him at all. He scored 21 goals in 24 appearances for Lynx this season as they finished Runners Up in the league, qualifying for Europe in the process.

Season 9 Summary. 

Youth Intake preview. 

Youth Intake. I'm not sure what to make of this intake. PA looks as rubbish as ever, and personalities look worse than normal, but CA looks decent. Because I have got our Facilities up I want PA rather than CA, but maybe CA isn't a complete disaster. We got our 1st player with better than 2.5 CA. 

(29a) Barnes (L.Det) * looks like he will be a very good full back, but also might be able to fill in on the left flank against better opposition. 

(29b) Tuck (Unsport) * looks like he has something in him, and Christ knows we need at least another couple of centre-backs.

(29c) Button (Bal) * is the 2.5 CA player and it's typical that he's a GK when I don't think that we need another GK. 

Pepe Reyes Cup.

National League.

Gibtelecom Rock Cup. 

Europe. Once again I was setting my sights on qualifying for the Champions league Group Stage, but I think I'm being a bit unrealistic. We did really well to squeeze past Malmö FF, (on away goals), but then were were hammered away to Basel. Draws against Marseille and AEK Athens in the Euro Cup Group stage is OK, and a win against Marseille in the final game would have seen us finish 3rd, but I don't think we are quite there yet. When our best strikers are still teenagers I think we're going to be lacking at the tope end of the pitch. Maybe it might be worth be engineering results to see us play in the Group Stage of the Euro Conference, (and the coefficient points that would bring).

It's a bit of an ugly stadium, (so it's well named), but it reminds me of old Football League stadiums from a different age.

I'm surprised to see so many youths from your intakes join the club with high stats, like Barnes with 17 for tackling this year and Ibrahim with 16 for finishing last season. 

I've never had a stadium named after me despite the 40+ seasons spent at clubs in the past, plenty of new stadiums in my time though.

I'm able to largely ignore domestic competition now and rarely select domestic match squads  (which is why I lost 2 games in recent seasons that we shouldn't have). The save is completely about the European campaign and then fast-forward to Youth Intake. That's the real reason I'm able to fly through the season so quickly. The hard part is making sure that I have the correct players in the Senior Squad so that the Ass Man has to choose the players I want. 

I've been a bit frustrated by our failure to get out of any Group Stage so far, but I think I have possibly been setting my expectations too high, (and the Euro Conference groups have been pretty tough). 

With regards to the high attributes seen in the Youth Intakes last season, I think I have now just got to the stage in terms of Youth Intake where that's a possibility. 

You have to remember though that there is likely to be a pretty low ceiling for the players we can produce, (with very occasional exceptions), so when we get high individual attributes like we have seen over the last 2 intakes, (I'm talking 16's and 17's), then there is likely to be a shortfall elsewhere. If I could design players, I would have the top attributes maxed out at 15 in order to spread the CA over different attributes. Over 15 is possibly overkill. 

The most recent intake, (which I haven't posted yet), sees green attributes come through in the following numbers in different areas.

Mental. 8
Physical. 1

I've played a LOT of FM. You know I have. I mean I have played REALLY A LOT of FM over the years. This is the 1st time I have ever had a stadium named after me, (or female me).  I've had sons in the game in the past, but not for a few issues now. Fingers crossed we will get another in this save. I started off as young as possible in anticipation of how this save might develop, and someone mentioned that you can't get a son until the manager reaches xx years old, so I'm happy that we will have good facilities by the time we reach that age. My character is 28 years old now, (can't remember what the trigger age is), so fingers crossed it happens in this save.

The most recent intake, (which I haven't posted yet), sees green attributes come through in the following numbers in different areas.

I've played a LOT of FM. You know I have. I mean I have played REALLY A LOT of FM over the years. This is the 1st time I have ever had a stadium named after me, (or female me).  I've had sons in the game in the past, but not for a few issues now. Fingers crossed we will get another in this save. I started off as young as possible in anticipation of how this save might develop, and someone mentioned that you can't get a son until the manager reaches xx years old, so I'm happy that we will have good facilities by the time we reach that age. My character is 28 years old now, (can't remember what the trigger age is), so fingers crossed it happens in this save. 

Yeah I guess the gulf in quality domestically now doesn't command your full attention. 

I know what you mean, high tackling but then in contrast poor defensive positioning/decision making/marking etc, kind of wastes that attribute being that high when lower tackling could mean better elsewhere. The facilities look fantastic for the level already. 

I had a son in game many moons ago but he was poor but kept around for sentimental reasons. Would be nice to get another in this edition and I can document his progress better.

Reading your thread, @_Ben_'s and watching a couple of streamers has me itching for a new save but I'm enjoying the #DanskeDanske save even though I'm not in Denmark at the minute. Not sure where to begin, need to see what additional league files have been done already I think.

There are still long-term issues with the game so if you are enjoying your #DanskeDanske save then I would say stick with it before starting a new one.

Yeah I see there's a few problems at the minute. 

Of course not, I try and watch DoctorBenjy most afternoons when at work and then LokiDoki in the evening when he streams, sometimes watch a few others like James Allcott or Clayts if no one else is on.

Any impact on Youth Intake? 

I wonder if this is going to make any difference on Youth Intakes? Is it possible that we will get some non-GIB players now? 

This isn't how it worked last year in my Irchester save for some reason. I was getting FGN players come through when I was a Semi-Pro club and it seemed to stop once we gained proper Academy status in National League or League 2 or whenever it was. This should have an impact though you would think? Maybe?

Honestly. All the things I have done in FM and never once had a stadium named after me until this. I was starting to think I was jinxed and it was never going to happen. Typical that I have to have a sex change to get it done though. 

I really don't think I have done all that in this save yet, (although dominating domestically and getting to the Group Stages in Europe is great). The real proof of whether I'm deserving of having a stadium named after me is if I can push on from here.

(30d) Alfie Blackett (F.Pro) has 15 for tackling which is brilliant, and as I mentioned in a recent response to @ToMexico!!I don't really want to see attributes bigger than that because I think it uses up too much CA. More concerning is that the best player to come through the intake last season was also a left back, (or WBL to be more precise), (29a) Barnes (L.Det) *, and I don't really want our best players in consecutive intakes to play in the same position when I can only play 1 of them. In this case I might be ok because (29a) Barnes (L.Det) * is also going to play as a left winger, (or that was the plan at least). 

(30a) Ballester (F.Pro) is a strange one. He's a wrong-footed left winger who also has a decent personality, (relatively speaking). I think I will be re-training him to play at MR. Physically he's not amazing, but both dribbling and crossing are almost at double figures and he has good passing for this level. I also like his mentals. 

(30c) Jamie Muscat (Merc) is a player I really like the look of. Continuing on from the conversation with @ToMexico!!I see few "wasted" attributes. I want this bloke to put the ball in the net. I don't want him to be a little bit good at doing other things. 

(30e) Huge (MAS) (ESP) (Res) had me REALLY excited. Malay with a 2nd Nationality of Spanish is exactly what I have been waiting for. A proper FGN player who might come through with a PA not restricted at all by the GIB Youth Rating levels, (or whatever he's called). The problem is that he also has GIB has a 3rd Nationality. Absolutely gutted. He's good, I really like him, but he's unlikely to be mind-blowing like some of the players I had come through in my Irchester save. 

Pepe Reyes Cup.

National League. In recent season we have conceded 20, 9, 9, 7, 9, 8 and now 5 goals across the whole league season. I'm starting to think that it might just be possible to go a whole league season without conceding a single goal. Boca Juniors scored 2 goals in 1 game and 1 in another game against us last season and Mons Calpe and Europa FC also scored 1 goal against us. Our full backs are ok, but we can produce better centre-backs and will. 

Gibtelecom Rock Cup. 

Europe. I would like to say that I engineered our results to ensure that we qualified for the Euro Conference Group Stage, but the truth is that we just couldn't squeeze past Legia Warsaw. I think I need to just relax about progress in Europe and remember than I'm managing in Gibraltar. We're only 10 years into the save and it's probably naive to expect us to be doing better than we are. We're properly knocking on the door of being good enough to finish 3rd in a Euro Cup Group and I think the only reason we didn't progress to the Knockout stages this season was because we had such a tough group. Even if we were to not get any new players, I think this group will be capable of progressing from a Knockout Group in the next few years.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on, especially in terms of other clubs in Europe and ground requirements, although you are likely to lock out the Champions League spot, and the National Stadium must meet requirements, someone might want the larger capacity
