Valerenga for the first game back was always going to be a tough one. I blame myself though I was a little rusty and tactically I was maybe reactive rather than proactive, I suppose not playing for a while will do that.

Clean sheet is a big bonus a feature that has been attributed to Nesselquist throughout is that he loves a clean sheet but Unfortunately, Molde and Rosenborg both capitalise on our dropped points and the title race turns once more.

ea8c3490a837dded10067cfa451c8860.png

Late fightback rescues a point and saves our blushes against bottom of the table. Self-sabotage as the opener is scored by our own player on loan. Krohg the 16-year-old forward gave his manager food for thought as he blasted his loan side in front!

e822be49cf82a2720b3fa813f16cb16e.png

Lady luck was shining as pulled off a remarkable result in Trondheim as Rosenborg are beaten 3-2, However Molde close the gap and its getting even more interesting.

A second Italian giant feels the wrath of the Odd giant killing machine at home. Incredible performance in such a tight game and to come out on top with a clean sheet made it all the sweeter. The Skagerak is now widely regard as a very tough away day in Europe no matter who is in visiting.

The signature shape worked wonders, Add in some immense goalkeeping and ruthless finishing and it’s the perfect recipe. Of course, at the heart of much of our big wins are vital set plays. The second goal comes from a well worked short corner a new routine being trailed out. The third goal is more the typical corner. Nesselquist’s attention to detail pays off yet again. However.....

05e6f553007dc5024b41380d2ca29bd4.gif

It was the opener that provided the goal of the month. A slick move down the right. The finish from Aas is beautiful but it’s his movement, the shadow striker played to its best ability running in unmarked after playing between the lines of defence and midfield.

A magnificent strike from Rasmussen who has been brilliant since returning from injury had looked to set us on our way, but seconds after the game in the artic circle was tied. A penalty in the end delivered the 3 points that were deserved in a hugely dominant performance.

cafa6658c8f8c519e437ee264a74c95f.png

It was Molde's turn to drop points in dramatic fashion in a 5-3 loss.

46ed6ef944e82131b1af8c96e94ad124.png

Odd and Rosenborg are going punch for punch yet again this season, But Molde are still looking to have their say as they chase very closely, I wouldn’t rule out a Stromsgodset who are really strong defensively if they start finding goals it will see them close the gap. The Draw against bottom of the league could really come back to haunt Ole Martin.

Time for Odd to raid the Rosenborg and Molde Squads for talent that could upgrade the team.

Play a zero sum game like Bayern.....

Great result against the "Old Lady" with your young guns'!

Nice result against the big cheating Italian team with the striped jerseys.  Impressive!

In the league it's crazy how consistently tight the title is!

Always a great battle!!

Well we have been raiding them slightly but in the end we actually produce the best talent at the minute!

Flying out the traps, Both Rasmussen and Tjåland getting goals is great start, as both will be key if things are to go to plan for Nesselquist and Odds run to glory! Rosenborg dropped two points in the Trondheim derby which swings the Pendulum Odd's way.

Within a blink of an eye Tjåland is wiped out from the equation. Huge blow, but when one door closes another will always open.

Juve dish out some revenge, it wasn’t plain sailing for them as Odd made them work for it. A poor first goal made it uphill battle for Nesselquist’s side. Then final blow struck late on dealt the hammer blow of a miracle result in Italy.

The train keeps on rolling, Rasmussen has hit a real purple patch at the right time as he breaks through his most productive season to date. Viking survive even after being brushed aside! The result paves the way for one hell of a spectacle.

The short throw yet again comes off, as the ball stood up to the back post is headed home by the poised Rasmussen. 1-0 Odd

I have gone on and on about how important set plays have been throughout this save. My work here is done they have paid of time and time again. Here are the biggest example two colossal goals in such a tight game its worth all the time and effort.

Failing to take our chances early on in Eindhoven sees us crash out the tournament, Disappointing to say the least considering the big Juventus result.

A nice clean sheet is a nice way to round of a title wining season, A Trademark Of Ole Martin Nesselquist

e7569740bc496677fc864eddab9aa9f4.png

In the end Stromsgodset rallied to be our biggest challenge! Sad to have no completed an invincible season thanks to Stromsgodset. The Norwegian giants falter to a 3rd place finish and yet to win a title during Nesselquist’s reign at Odd. Molde who in recent times have been the biggest threat to Rosenborg throne finish 4th. A stark reminder to them that Odd are now the club of that title.

The only team to beat us all season domestically are the team that stands in the way of the treble. Both teams are known for solid defensive displays and lethal counter attacks so it could be an interesting tactical battle, a tight affair to say the least.

7ad0b77be633cfaba75d81407bffe15c.gif

We have seen the return of the clean sheet machine of Nesselball, but a special mention goes out to his splendid ability of construction lethal set plays another key component of his game plan.

The treble is sealed and the young man from Moss cements himself a place in history and a becomes a club legend in doing so!

Early goal proved to be killer and end any chance of a big European trophy. A poor group stage really bar the massive Juve result.

Summary

I think it’s now time to call it a day here and finish on top with a domestic treble. I have become bored I'm sure some can even tell that by my writing. Work has been hectic which never helps but in truth I have achieved all I set out to do. it was never a large task but more a relevant one to do with the location I work in. Tactically it was a challenge away from what I normally do and that was also a success.

Odd the oldest club in Norway won their first title and followed up with a further three in a row behind it. They have seen knockout stages of the Champions league and given out some major giant killings in the process. The Skagerak Arena has become a fortress to be reckoned with not only in Norway, but Europe. Their youth academy is the best in Norway and will continue supply the club for years to come. They have an endless pit of money and a squad that will go on to win the league and challenge for years to come.

676dfaa73b882e0a3b173cecb9990a66.png

I would love to play on and really chase down Eggen and Rosenborg, but the gap is huge and with wavering interest I feel I wouldn’t to the team ive built any justice. A European trophy escapes us but I have my reasons for that mainly the timing of knock out games.

Up Next

I plan a tactical post that will link all this together over on the tactics side of the forum I will link it in here. As promised, I’ll go into more depth of all the systems. Then ill embark on another journey where perhaps I will leave my one club save idea behind just maybe though.

Thanks

Thanks for everyone's input into the save. All the readers, comments and feedback are much appreciated I hope you enjoyed it and maybe took some extracts of Nesselball to your game.

Going out on top is the way to go. Good on you for finishing strong despite your lagging interest!
Always going to be tough in Europe but you made a good account of yourself.

Looking forward to the tactics thread.

Thanks very much! I think things could have played out longer had there not been big gaps in game time. But domestically it had become stale.

tactic thread is underway as we speak. But it  will take some time to get spot on.

Of course! Take your time. Even just my latest “tactical interlude” took me quite a while because sometimes it’s fun to, you know, actually play the game a bit too...And then there’s those “life” and “work” things too...

Hi @SixPointer, loved reading this.

Would it be possible for you to go on holiday and sim 5-10 seasons without you as manager? Would be really interested to see how the AI tackles your departure, the direction they go in and if they make the most of the legacy your manager left behind!

Yeah certainly could. Am in the middle of W tactical write up then. I’ll do this. Also toying with the idea of carrying on with it myself 🤣

Ooooh. Well the latter idea sounds even better to me and I'm sure countless others in here :D Nesslequist (potentially) continues!

Reading this inspired me to play with a Scandinavian side (to start with) in a journeyman myself. 3 seasons in with Thisted at Denmark I am loving it!

Delighted to give you some inspiration.

well since doing the tactical write up I’ve really considered coming back to it and rounding off at ten seasons but I also have a new idea. So when it comes to actually playing the game I’ll have a decision to make

my full tactical write up is complete now for anyone who cares to read more into the tactical side of odd.
I now have free time to decide what happens next. As it stands I’ll holiday for 5 seasons as a request to show how the legacy played out then begin a whole new challenge.

Are you thinking of taking another challenge in the world ODD made?

I think that might be an avenue to consider....starting as an unknown manager in 2030 or whenever or take Nesselquist to Germany to rebuild a fallen Giant at that date and think up a whole new tactical setup!

Tbh I’m giving more thought to jumping around in the future. But more than likely will come in a new save. I have my eyes on a team. Am just doing research. However I’ll build my database this time to allow for manager progression as well as the club. Cause if I had a better database spread on Odd I would have carried on.

Ole Martin Nesselquist's legacy

i saved the game and made another file then I resigned at the club, then holiday for five seasons. Now its to check on if a legacy lasted after all his hard work building the clubs infrastructure to be the best in Norway. I have the chance to re visit if i wish but feel this is it as I'm well underway with my next career.

c0fac8e10b9051af7815ac23f9d515ab.png

Well the following year after his departure the title was won, then the run of titles ended. A runner up 2027 but back to winning 2028. It seems Bodo raised there game to became the big challenger. What is pleasing is... yes you guessed it no Rosenborg victory!

d601ec2e71b14148e57c4a1f5cd385e3.png

The Cupen however never came again until 2028 3 years after he left, but 3 in a row has came since, cementing Odd as the second best in Norway in terms of trophy. However Europe has been poor with only one qualification to the UCL groups

Managerial history, there has been two men in the hot seat at Norway's oldest club. now ironically the job is available.

Benjaminsen lived up to his potential as a wonderkid and some more. Now an elite level attacking midfielder, the boy was always destined for big things. I didn't think he would become one of the best in the world and eventually sell for 127m

Nino Moi went onto PSV and has made himself a Norway regular, lived up to his billing and his attribute spread he has 5 seasons ago! 40 million pound defensive midfielder is good going.

05176ecf8845f6acf21828bb71dd50a3.jpg

11f66e23e3a8cf31b212266255ffcdc9.png

Moen later to the show but seems to have now got his bigger move. was never regarded as a wonderkid, but after Nesselquist left he muscled Tjåland and Rasmussen out of the team to be number one striker which am shocked at.

4bd76c18f66c50f4eb9b6c66c2f13334.jpg

 e91c44d11d0d952f119543eefaacb58f.jpg

My favourite example of the talent that has went on to big things. Due to the fact he was made at Odd under Nesselquist's directly under the orders of him. Holland came calling a season after Nesselquist left he has now since went on to sign for German power house Bayern for 60 million

7d636ae1fbcf62d4349cd21ba8df7253.png

he is rated the second best Norwegian in the game behind only Erling Haaland

203eedced293ae472563eb02f52ef881.jpg

Brede rude is a sign that the talent factory would roll on after the work spent on it by Nesselquist. he has a big move to Chelsea after coming through two years after ole martins departure. There is no fewer than 7 academy graduates in odds first team with a good amount of others playing elsewhere.

I think the young man left a legacy, Odd are certainly there as the top teams in Norway. in terms of how I seen it, could I have stayed on and kept the run going to 10 yes I don't doubt I could well have, especially when you see the level players reached but for me the domestic game had went boring and Europe frustrating due to when knockout games came along. Another factor was there wasn't a great level of player to actually enhance my squad and I could have picked any player in Norway and bought him so that was a bit of blocker. All in all this was actually perfect save to move clubs and take some of my young stars with me. unfortunately I never set the database up correctly due to me being a one club save. I wont make that mistake. All in all I really enjoyed my second ever save in Norway.

Thanks for everyone's input and I hope to see you on my next venture in eastern Europe

Fun to see how things went after you left! The sustained success, if not quite to the level you achieved, speaks to how well you set them up.
It’s a fun idea and I’ll have to do the same when my Livorno save runs its course!

You definitely improved the club....even the AI could win titles.

I think I will put a spin on this 5 year in the future run and have Dauphinais "Comeback" to managing after 5 seasons after resigning for personal reasons!

I will then continue my now on hiatus save after the school year finishes in a few weeks.

@SixPointer Good Luck in your new save. Will you be posting it by chance?

Thanks!! Yeah it was good to see how the AI would handle the club. If the database was right it would have been good to watch it play out closer. Glad you like the idea
