Goals Galore 2009 - flowing football ends with bang to the goal

GOALS GALORE 2009

First of all welcome. Thanks for all the feedback and input for this tactic. It really helps in the developing stage. I think I've develop enough of this tactic. Maybe I will do it in the future if it still got major problems

So far I've tested this using Atletico Madrid and Reading and in both games it has been well. I reckon if you're using higher skilled teams this tactic would work as fine (as most tactic is on clubs like Barca or MU). I have no promises on lower division sides.

If you're nice to read all that crap then congratz coz you just got yourself a candy

Formation & Team Instruction :

formasicx0.jpg

• Basically this is a 4-4-2 Diamond tactic which focuses on attacking.

• Having normal tempo game; it creates opportunity by passing around between defender-midfielder to make room for strikers to get a good through ball and create good scoring opportunity. Also, it means you will get more control of the game as you'll get most of the possession.

• As FM09 is somehow more 'tactical', I use the my own "tweaked 'Rule of Two'" - meaning there's a 2 mentality difference between each position. That way, the ball can be flow from defender to midfielder to striker flawlessly and there's no more that 'too big of a gap between midfielder and defender' comment by the assistant manager.

• But don't worry, this tactic will not always play that boring old-Chelsea's-passing-around-until-the-opponent-is-bored way of football, but goals will come from every direction, seriously. I would like to show the 'video' i made from the tactic, but I don't know how to make it as a gif file.. so I guess you have to try it yourself :delighted: .

Notes :

*Put your pacey on right striker and your 'tall-all-around' striker on the left.

*Put best header defender on the right central defender

*The playmaker is the AMC; so don't forget to put him on the playmaker box

*This (somehow) works best with short pitch

Players recommended :

Pacey striker : The RIGHT striker. He will having a lot of forward runs to mess up opponent defense and create room for the other striker and AMF to supply a through pass. Best Eg : Aguero, Agbonlahor

Big Strong striker : The LEFT striker. Dropping deep on the field. He will flick the ball to the other forward or score goals himself. Most from heading. Best eg : Cardozo is awesome ! :delighted:

Creative attacking midfielder: The PLAYMAKER. He must be able to dribble, pass, and score. Creativity, flair, dribbling, passing are the most important aspects. (Matias Fernandez?)

Pacey wingers : Well, not really must-have, but having someone who can pass the defender easily from the wings is always a good thing. Best Eg : Walcott, Messi

'Traditional' DMF : A hard-working DMF with good tackling to break down the attack before reaching your defenders as well as help to build up play from back to front. Palombo (?)

Pacey fullback : This is A MUST ! Man marking needs high-speed fullbacks. More important from the pacey wingers as they will also run forward to help attacking, and also to run back quickly to prevent counter-attack. If you don't got pacey fullbacks, change the marking into zonal marking.

Good defenders and goalkeeper : What's the point of scoring 9 if got conceded 10? :geek: (Lols jk, we will strike 11 goals then !)

My current project

leaguetablelm0.jpg

Finished 7th in my first season in EPL as Reading (it could've been 5th if i didn't got conceded against Liverpool at last minute of the last game)

Earlier development of the tactic.

My Atletico was the champions of Europe

FAQ

Q : Who is the playmaker?

A : Well, I've written it. But since I'm so nice I'm gonna tell you again. It's the AMC aka Attacking Midfielder

Q: How can i choose the right playmaker?

A : The player must be able to play the AMC position (duh) and he must have high creativity and passing as well as the ability to dribble.

Q : Where do i put my strikers?

A : My recommendation is the fast striker on the right and the all-around one on the left.

Q : I don't got pacey fullbacks. What must I do?

A : Buy them. lol jk. Change their marking to zonal marking, but I think it would affect the defense.

Q : I want my team to play like Arsenal.

A : Change the passing to short.

Q : Strikers not involved in open plays

A : Make them drop deeper.

If you got long pitch, lower down the forward runs. (left strike to rarely, right striker to mixed)

If you got short pitch, lower down the striker's mentality (-1)

Q : Where's the 'away' tactic?

A : Since the home tactic itself is still in BETA mode, I haven't really got the time (and willingness) to make the 'away' tactic. But I will tell some changes that might be effective

Mentality : Defensive (5 or something)

Individual mentality : Each player's mentality -2 or -3

Forward runs for RB and LB to rarely

Q: If I got the lead; it's 10 more minutes and the AI is all attacking bonanza. What should i do?

A: Set your mentality down to defensive (or ultra-defensive) and waste time often (way too often is fine too :delighted: )

Q : You're cute. Can i get your number?

A : ......

Some crappy notes from creator :

I know the results hasn't been showing Goals-Galoring, like 8-0 or something back in the original version;

that's why I need your feedback and inputs so I can improve it.

(Try it for 10 games or so first to get more 'accurate' result. )

Thanks and have fun :delighted:

I have just downloade andwill try with Spurs. At pre-season stage currently having played one season.

Before I start though, do you tweak the tactic at all during games? E.G. 2-1 up ten mins to go and the A1 goes 4-2-4, will i stick to the tactic or change to a shut up shop?

hmm, yeah you do. i mean it's basic stuffs.

if you're almost winning and the AI gone all bonanza attacking just set mentality to defensive and make often time wasting.

you might also want to lessen the forward runs

and if you're away.. since i haven't made any away tactics

just make the mentality defensive.

thanks for being the first tester here. cheers

Currently testing it out with Torquay.

Will keep you posted.

First impressions are that both central midfielders get pulled over to one side which then pulls the FB across as well. This leaves a huge gap down the channels. May need to get the central midfielders to man mark an opposition midfielder each.

central midfielders?

your midf or opponent's?

i might try to work on that gap. for the meanwhile test it for a while and see how it turns out.

My DM and AM get pulled over. I set the Dm to specifically mark the more attacking of thier CM's and the AM to specifically mark the more holding CM and it seemed to stop the flow.

Tried this with Man City.

West Brom 2: 0 Man City (two thirty yarders from bednar (long shot rating 7!!!, one on his wrong foot!)

Man City 1:0 Wigan (Robinho)

Man City 0:0 Portsmouth

Playing Robinho behind Vagner Love and Cardozo, but they are creating nada with it and i am losing possession 40:60 in every game. I am in a slump mind you and cant buy a win at the moment so I will persevere with it until i get sacked I reckon

same here with man city played four matchs with this so far:

Sheffield Wed 0-1 Man City (dominated match and even when sheff wed lost a man still cudnt get another goal)

Man City 1-2 Liverpool (Torres and Gerrard both scored long range goals, i had better possesion of 52% but my goal came in 2nd minute so again a bit poor)

Everton 3-3 Man City (Equalised in 90th minute had 57% possesion but defence just opened everytime they attacked even when i set mentality as defensive etc., lucky i had been leading 2-1 from first leg which means i am in League Cup final now :) )

Man City 0-0 Chelsea (Had 60% possesion again still cant score much but defence played better in this one)

Except for the everton match i have been the dominant team using the tactic but just cant score for some reason, i have cardozo as target man and robinho/owen as my fast striker. I matias fernandez as AMC and have van der vaart as back up.

If you have any suggestions on better players for these places that i could get for under £20 mill let me know as i am at 25th jan in my season so could get someone in

Okay Tested this so far with Spurs in my second season 09-10.

Played 4 pre season matches all away, lost the first one then won 3-0, drew 1-1 and won 2-1.

Started the season with a Derby against Arsenal and drew 2-2 at home.

Then: Hull away 1-1, Oldham away lge cup won 3-0, Preston home won 3-2, Sunderland away won 4-1, Villa home won 3-2.

I have stuck totally to this tactic and firmly believe had I shut up shop I would have beaten Hull and Arsenal.

Therefore it has worked so far for me, I have 11 from 15 League points and sit 3rd.

I will continue to test it but now implement the shut up shop if the A1 goes 4-2-4 or I have a lead with 10-15 to go.

Okay my latest test report does not read so good...

Since beating Villa we beat Wigan in league cup 3-2, then the losing streak...

Blackburn away 1-3, Chelsea at home 1-2, Liverpool away 1-2 (Lost 3 games)

Next game at Reading will let you know. I am going to stick with it ...

Man Utd at home won 1-0

Birmingham away 2-2

West Brom away in cup lost 2-1.

I think I have given it a fair go now, P14 W7 D4 L4 F29 A22

How doea this fair with others? I think it seems a decent tactic but just something needs changed to make it tops!

I really like this tactic. Played 5 games with Man City:

Everton, away - 2:1 win

Chelsea, home - 0:0 draw

Bolton, away - 2:0 win

Kaiserslautern, home - 0:0 draw

Stuttgart, home - 2:0 win

Fair enough results have been iffy in places but my word do you dominate the game with this tactic. Always lead in possession, shots (on target, off target and clear cut chances) and pass completion. The strikers seem a bit poor at scoring imo and it has been my AMC, Riquelme who has been rescuing me but I put that down to my squad trying to blend in etc etc.

I have tried most of the 4-4-2 tactics so far for FM09 and this is the only one which stands out to me. I always like taking a look at a tactic but then modifying it to my needs. That being said, this won't need much playing around with. I know people expect to download a tactic and then boom, 38 wins in a row with a below average team. Not gonna happen!!

Top marks aaannndddiii!

Here's my current result..

Just started this afternoon so haven't really got much. Will update it though. Tomorrow or sometime. Got a lot of school project at the moment. LOL

This is v1.5 :

currentresultsfc0.jpg

Both strikers are scoring now.

Kevin Doyle plays on right scores 5 goals in 6 games, but he get a lot of opportunities.

Jermaine Beckford plays on left and scores 7 goals in 5 games.

Hopefully it works.

If the OP meant goals galore AGAINST he wouldn't be far wrong. This is an ugly tactic that simply invites pressure onto you with a huge hole in the centre of the park that the opposition exploits.

Oh, did i say tried this with my treble winning Real Madrid team? Lost more games in a month with this tactic than i had done for the previous 2 seasons.

Thanks but no thanks.
