Motlhen
Mar 2024 At the start of the month we were 4 points behind Walthamstow & have managed to end the month 4 points ahead of them with two games left to play after they lost yet again! The title really is ours to lose. One more win will do it! I've been continuing to improve the squad where I can in anticipation of next season. & we have also had our youth intake, but more on that once I can concentrate on anything but the league! Motlhen
Apr 2024 Walthamstow got back to winning ways in their penultimate game the day before we played. A win would mean we were crowned champions, but we played out an epic 3-3 draw. We'd had a penalty saved & they'd fired a penalty wide before Seidi showed both teams how to put it away from 12 yards to complete his hattrick in the 90th minute and earn us a point. We're ahead of Walthamstow by 2 points & 10 goals better off on goal difference, so a draw should be enough in our final game. Motlhen
Apr 2024 continued... We go up as champions! In no small part to resurgence of our key man Seidi. At the start of the season, he was in my plans, but then more established strikers came and took his place. But none of them could replicate his scoring stats and after a run in the team mid-season, Seidi got us back to winning ways and with two hattricks in the last two games, he deserves all the plaudits! Seidi's record of 124 goals in 109 games for the club is outstanding. Walthamstow will feel hard done by as they gave us a tough run in until the end of the campaign. But ultimately, we improved on coming close last season to making it count this season. & the stats from our two seasons in the division reflect that. Financially it's been a tough year. I'm hopeful we can chalk this down to a one-off 'Other' payment of £20k and that those sort of losses won't become an annual or regular occurrence. I don't think I've ever had a squad this big. There will be a lot of culling over the summer as I want to have more structure to our approach next season.
deltablue
Good work on another promotion. My own attempts at this sort of save suggest that I'd be moving my way up in a series of short steps rather than going far with one team.

Motlhen
Jul 2024 Our takeover has finally been completed. But it's taken a while... We're about to start the new season & haven't been able to make any improvements to the squad due to the transfer embargo. That's now been lifted & players are asking for a lot of money, so I think I will see how the current squad fairs in this new division for now. We're slightly worse off than last season due to a half a dozen retirements & some key players choosing to move on. The new board have set some pretty high expectations, so I'll have to make sure we come close to the playoffs. We're predicted to finish 6th, so we'll have to beat our media prediction to appease the board as 1st gets automatic promotion & 2nd-5th go into the playoffs. I don't feel very prepared, but the new season is now upon us!

The quality of player that appear in the Scouting Centre seems to have remained consistent, but we've been more successful in signing the better players as we've moved up the leagues. I think now I am starting to see the ceiling of scouting this way as you have mentioned there are not too many players offering their services that would immediately challenge for a first team place now & an only a small percentage of those players want to join for a reasonable wage! Motlhen
Aug 2024 Seidi continues to shine in a higher tier with 7 goals in the opening 2 league games. & he helped the youngsters past Roman Glass St. George in the FA Cup. Motlhen
Sep 2024 We were on our best run of the save until meeting Hayes in the FA Cup.Seidi already has 22 goals this season!!! In the league we have started well, but Harlow Town have been perfect so we are some way off top spot already. I would be very happy with finishing in 5th at the end of the season. We've had two replays & we're about to play another as our cup draws have been adding to an already congested fixture list. Injuries are starting to become more common & we are only 2 months into the season. Another month of benefitting from the finances from the cups as we hit new heights for our bank balance! Motlhen
Oct 2024 I have finally caved in to signing players on part-time contracts with a weekly wage.Mensah is the first of those players. He is a youngster with a lot of teams interested in his development, so I thought it would make sense to offer him £20p/w, especially if we can work towards another team paying his wages in full whilst he develops in their first team out on loan. A deal shouldn't be far off! We've not had a great month, with 3 wins & 3 losses. We are still in a strong position in the league, especially with 2 games in hand on the teams around us. The worst news this month is the loss of our talisman as Seidi is sidelined for a long 6-7 weeks. Hopefully someone can step up in his place. The board have agreed to improve our facilities again. Motlhen
Nov 2024 We've capitulated without Seidi! We've tumbled down the table & we're now out of all 3 cup competitions too. The squad are in unfamiliar territory & aren't happy about our form. In only a month's time, I've gone from the promotion spots and looking above us, to checking how far off relegation we are! We recently broke our longest unbeaten run record, but now we are breaking some unwanted records: We can't be this much of a one-man team, can we? Looking at the average ratings of all of our players this season so far, I don't think we can argue that we're not.Seidi is head & shoulders above everyone else & we definitely need to start looking to improve the squad in all positions! We seem to be losing just over £2k/month without the cup comps covering our outgoings. This increase in outgoings is coming from 3 places: Our youth setup League Fines & our player wages, which have remained consistent over the past few months but were the reason we moved into the red month-on-month when we were playing in the lower leagues. Motlhen
Dec 2024 Seidi returning has helped us stop the rotten run of results, but even with him we are not immune to a hiding, which is exactly what we got from Walton Casuals. We are a lot worse off when relying on the squads back up players, so a few more injuries were partly to blame for the horrendous result. I have been looking to our youngsters in light of the injuries we've had & that we have a few standout players that are already playing at the same standard as some of our backups. I am hoping that we can have another strong youth intake this season & the preview looks promising. Financially we are taking a hit every month now. Motlhen
Jan 2025 A good start to the new year! After conceding 7 in the last game of the previous year, not conceding in three games is a huge improvement. We have had a couple more injuries that disrupt our first team selection. Motlhen
Feb 2025 A few more injuries for us to contend with. Motlhen
Mar 2025 The extra expense of the facilities has not put me off pushing for more. & we have had a great youth intake this year in terms of ability & potential, but we've got some serious mentoring to do! My top 3: Back focussing on the league; we have been dealt a huge blow as our main man Seidi has been sidelined until probably next season. His goals have been important, but we've managed to get back to winning ways without him! Somehow we still have a big chance of making the playoffs with 4 games to go. The decrease continues.. Motlhen
Apr 2025 We started the month with a brilliant victory over top of the league, but an early red card in our next game meant we were on the wrong end of a thumping. Luckily for us, Carshalton are on a horrendous run of form so we have made our playoff position stick for now. Two games to go! We can't slip up because there are 4 teams in the chasing pack that could jump ahead of us if we lose another match. Motlhen
We missed Seidi massively in a game we dominated but just could not keep our composure to overturn Phoenix Sports early goal. Both strikers had an abundance of chances and we kept the pressure on to the very end of the game, but it wasn't enough. Both Carshalton & Staines won their matches & climb above us. Making the playoffs this season is now unlikely.
Motlhen
Seidi has made it back from injury in time for our last game of the season! & I'm not the only one hanging all my hopes on one player, as my assistant manager has heaped the pressure on too:
Motlhen
What a crazy final day! & actually it won't be our "final" day of the season as we've managed to sneak into the playoffs. Seidi immediately showed us that he doesn't mind playing under pressure. It took him less than 24 seconds to open the scoring on his return from injury! We held our nerve to beat Met Police as Carshalton's late flurry wasn't enough to win against Broadfields & Champions Harlow Town came back from 3-1 down with only half an hour to play to knock Staines out of the playoff spots too. We've floated around just outside the playoff spots all season, so to make it into them when it counts is a huge achievement. We're up against Broadfields in a single-leg semi-final. Motlhen
After the valiant effort of making it to the playoffs, we looked like we had run out of steam as Broadfields never looked like losing. A disappointing final game, but I think promotion would have come too soon for the current squad. This summer will be a reevaluation of our financial situation whilst I look at who we can bring in to improve the squad. Financially we have made small improvements in a few areas & our wage budget is under control. But now players are asking for a lot more money to come to the club so we may be looking at what we can do with our youngsters who don't demand such a high wage! The squad from this season: The records: Special mention as always for Seidi. He's been consistently incredible and I do not know where we would be without him. Season Games Goals Assists POM Rating 20/21 24 40 11 11 8.13 21/22 37 42 8 9 7.59 22/23 40 39 6 12 7.36 23/24 33 39 3 11 7.49 24/25 37 45 5 11 7.52 ----------------------------------------------- Overall 172 205 33 54 7.
Motlhen
Summer 2025 I negotiated a deal for double my wage & have started on another coaching licence. As I'm trying to make sure no player/staff earns more than me & I was looking to start moving some players on to proper part-time contracts it was necessary to make sure that there was enough room to bring in the players I wanted. I approached our back up left back for a Player / HoYD role as we have to ensure that we are getting the best out of our youngsters as the facilities are costing a lot to run! We have had a couple of good intakes, but the personalities on the last one were not great. I'm hoping that Fitzpatrick can change that. I also managed to get two retiring players to join our scouting team to shake up our scouting reports. Our coaching team has been depleted by the departure of our GK Coach & Ass Man. In terms of signings, it has been really hard to find replacements to improve the team. Any players that would potentially fight for a first team place were asking for way more than I was willing to pay & any player that would accept the £75p/w max wage I was willing to offer I decided were not good enough to warrant it. So we have been left in a bit of limbo. Luckily, I was able to secure a couple of loan signings before our first match of the season & I'll continue to look to fill the other four season-long-loan slots that we are allowed. I've managed to sign a few youngsters on to more secure contracts, including the top prospect at the club. & looking at our squad, I am very excited for the new season. ..despite the media not backing us to do very well. Our aim is promotion! We have had a decent pre-season & we're ready to go!
