devlin1985
As the title says, i'm stuggling to bury the poorer teams that come to us, we're very difficult to break down away, however, at home we are susceptible. The pitch is 114 long and 74 wide, what would you say is the best style to use? We use 4-3-3 with A.Sanchez and De Maria as AMR/L and Yakubu up top, if we face a team that uses wide men in similar way I drop down to a 4-5-1. This works away from home. Only once have we scored more than 3 at home, that was to West Brom. my basic squad is: akinfeev diogo, rafinha (when i get his wp, hes on loan in norway), jagielka, guilherme, baines yobo, gerson, papadopolous, rodwell veloso, fellaini, castillo, van der vaart, cahill sanchez, de maria, wellbeck, pienaar yakubu, vaughan also a couple of regens, a CM and an AMR i have enough depth to have 2 players for each position, so creating a home fortress style shouldnt be a problem squad wise. should i drop my tempo down and put creative freedom up? more free roles? my d-line/ mentality/ closing down and tempo are very similar - all around 14 teams like pompey, villa, spurs, rovers come to goodison as underdogs but we always struggle, usually relying on a 2nd half winner, it would just be nice to get the team to run teams over at home like we do away.... any ideas would be greatly appreciated
devlin1985
after some tinkering, i decided to go back to an old formation for home games against medium-poor sides, which is a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond formation, using mixed focus passing, lower width...the results are much better, dominating teams, creating chances and restricting theirs. Could this be the lack of width of the pitch affecting my style too much and/ or a 2nd striker causing them too many problems?
AreQ
I have this in my game too, what i does it to attack more: My FBs goes from support role to attack role, and my whole team gets +4 in mentality (and Closing down) individual instructions. Wide was +1 or +2, and tempo as well. I'm switching on Counter attacks as well. Then, when i have lead (usually by 2 goals, cus i never trust in 1 goal leads) and my assman saying, that opposite team goes more attacking, and because of that we should playing more defensively, I'm going back to my 'standard' tactic. I need to add, that my standard tactic is between 'normal' and 'attacking' in sense of player instructions like passing, but in mentality its like for normal tactic, and that is way i don't changing passing, creative freedom etc another players. So in generally You need more ATTACK! -ing tactic And about free roles, i don't like them. High creativity - yes. Free roles - no.
