AI sides hoarding players

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Currently using the official SI Gibraltar league and I'm noticing most teams hoarding a huge mass of players. Regardless of db size and amount of leagues running near the nation. So transfer activity should be decent. First teams have anything from 25-45 players in, reserve teams 30-35 and U19's 20-25 players. Some sides have over 110 players on the books. Most of these players are aged between 24-29 and haven't played a single competitive game for the side in over 5 seasons.

Any ideas on how to circumvent this on a new save? Would squad limits on the editor as a rule change this, or just cause the AI to have the same number of players just a lot unregistered? Examples below. You can see from the side bar the amount of players. It's also about 40% of teams, the other 60% are fine.

I'm having the exact same issue on a separate db in San Marino with teams having at a minimum 105 players at the club across the first team and the U19's and a maximum of 181 players. Mostly all transfer listed

Sounds like too many players for those small leagues and the players can’t go play for anyone else because of no interest. Are there lower leagues for those countries?

Yes I did think that myself. I initially run the sim just to check for bugs etc on a medium db with just 3/4 nations selected. So for the next test did the same with a medium db and 8 nations selected down to lower leagues which appears to of helped maybe by 10% on the player numbers or so looking into it. My usual set up when playing is a medium db with about 20 nations and 50 leagues selected so this might also help potentially.

There is quite a decent level of transfer activity between Gibraltar, Spain and England but does only really seem to be for top/good players rather than players struggling to get a game in Gibraltar. I wish the AI would just release the deadwood and let them retire!

It's odd that some teams have ''normal'' sized first team and reserves, but other teams have huge amounts in each. I'd say 60% of teams are fine and the other 40% huge squads. And all the sides have a varying level of success so I can't even say it's just the low rep performing teams who can't offload players, even though they are all non-contract.

Seem like most of the players don’t have a contract add that to the fact there isn’t any interest in them from other lower tier teams, they will probably just sit on the roster. Maybe go into the editor and make it so that the lower tier players require some sort of contract. That way they’ll be released.

Another way is to set an age limit for the teams. (Not for registration l) They’ll be released once they’ve hit that limit.
